ATD Painting

We had a new custom kitchen installed in our house this year including new cabinets. The painter that sprayed the cabinets originally did a very poor job, orange peel, brush marks etc. We contacted ATD after finding them through Google and reading the positive reviews to see if they could sand and repaint the cabinet doors to achieve a better finish. We were assured by the salesperson that they could fix the issues and provide a much better finish in 1-2 days. We signed and submitted the quote October 29 and agreed on a date to start November 8th. We met with the salesperson and project lead the morning the project started, left a check for payment and then went out of town for three days providing them uninterrupted access to work. We received a text Saturday the 9th that everything was done except hardware and they’d come back to put the hardware on Monday the 11th. We came home to a mess with masking still up, doors not on etc. The worst part was how bad the cabinets looked almost all were even worse than before. Orange peel, drips, brush marks, rough texture, peeling paint, unpatched visible holes where cabinets had been hung to spray, overspray on counters, interior shelves, appliances etc. A supervisor came to review the next day, admitted the job looked horrible, had been subbed out, would need to be fixed, and returned our check. The work was so bad we considered just using a different company but ultimately decided that ATD had caused so many new issues they needed to fix it. ATD agreed to come back out and confirmed we were scheduled December 2 at 9 AM. The salesperson called the day before Thanksgiving and said ATD had changed his mind and would not be coming to fix their work. He stated his boss had tried to call me the week before and I had not responded. I did not receive any contact from anyone at ATD until the notice that they would not come back to fix their work. I was shocked by the unprofessional way this was handled and would avoid this company at all costs.

I called ATD because of very positive reviews during a Google search for painters in my area (I live in Parker TX). I was immediately impressed with the receptionist who took my call and answered all my questions. I was given an appointment the following day for Rudy to come by to give me a bid for my project. He was straight-forward, honest, never pressured me for any extra work and made me feel comfortable from the moment he walked in my home. He worked with my difficult work schedule (I am a flight attendant and away for days at a time) and was able to assign the 5-6 work day job, for the very day I requested. Workers arrived promptly every day and I was very comfortable having them in my home. They worked quickly, efficiently and with careful attention to detail. The job was completed on time and with very few touch-ups needed. I loved working with Rudy, Ken and Elmer throughout the job. I was so pleased with the completed job that I immediately asked to have a 2nd job done. It entailed repairing the ceiling in my garage and repainting it. Beautiful workmanship and again done timely! My neighbor down the street requested to have her home painted because of my high recommendation. If you need a paint job done... call ATD!

ATD exceeded our expectations! The owner takes COMPLETE PRIDE in what his crews are doing! The first crew that was sent out did not do what was up to the owners standards. When we called about it. ADT was lightening quick to respond! The owner sent out a whole new crew and all I can say is WOW!!! MY home looks amazing! I am so glad we choose a company that addresses concerns and makes sure we were happy! I will definitely use ADT and recommend them to anyone looking to have a painting job done! The are a gem in the construction industry!!!!

I’ve never been more disappointed in a business. All I can say is “get the estimate in writing!” Because this company’s employees run one of the biggest goat rope shows of them all. It started when I called 2-weeks ago and spoke to Kayla. I needed a brand new door stained and we communicated through phone and text messages. I sent a photo of my new door and got back a $700 quote. At first I was shocked it was $700 to stain a door that cost $1500. But I went with it. When the door was complete from being built, I called and spoke to their field guy Ken about the process. I wanted someone to come out and check the color before the door was delivered so it could be stained. But he told me that his crew would come check it and most likely do it same day if they had the stain with them. Another point to make is that the Friday before, I called and spoke to Lindsey in the office. I have nothing good to say about her so I won’t go into detail. She also assured me it could be done same day. Well Monday comes along (the day the work was to be done) and Ken shows up. I even got a call 2-hours before from Lindsey asking if the door was installed before sending Ken to my house. When Ken arrived he seemed very disinterested. Completely lost as to why he was there. Not to mention didn’t know the price or the work needing accomplished and he specifically told me this as he walked up. He did exactly what I didn’t want happening. He not only couldn’t get the job done since it was just him and no crew, but left and said he’d call me back later that afternoon. Yep… no phone call (luckily I bypassed him and spoke to Kayla for a Wednesday appointment) she also confirmed she remembers speaking with me, had the notes about the $700 price and needed to talk to Adam the co-owner since there was a question about the price from Ken. So, Tuesday comes and I call Ken at 9 AM and left a message to make sure we could still do it as the forecast didn’t look good. It wasn’t until 4:30 pm the day before the work was to be done that all h*** broke lose. I got a voicemail and text from Ken that there was miscommunication and that to stain the door for $700 was only the FRONT! And the whole door would be $989. Are you kidding me?! $700 to stain just the front of a door. I’m sorry but you are a brain dead if you pay $700 to stain the front of a door. So I called the co-owner Adam (can’t say anything bad about him because he was very nice). He said he would call me back after he looked at some stuff. He later left me a voicemail that they couldn’t do the job. This entire process has been terrible. What I came to learn about ADT Painting is money means far more to them than customer service. Several times $700 was quoted to stain my door. But apparently when you tell them you have a brand new door it only means the front. So here you have it. They would rather lose $700 than make things right. I get it if it was an expensive product. But anyone that has been to Lowes or Home Depot knows that a can of stain is around $40. This was primarily service work, not product. I not only do not recommend them but say hire them at your own risk. They do not stand by their quoted price. I’ve used DFW Painting and Southern Painting in the past. They were great reputable companies. That were amazing to work with. I only called ADT because they mentioned staining and the other companies did not. I hope this review helps others make a decision not to hire ADT Painting for your home projects. I can’t wait to see how they respond and once again try and pass the buck off to the customer being the issue rather than holding their employees responsible for a severe lack of communication. I guess buyer beware.

Great job on providing an estimate and scheduling the work. Team of four painters took two day to complete the work. Awesome job. House looks great.

I highly recommend ATD. We needed the exterior of our home painted. They did an excellent job to power wash and caulk before painting. Prep was timely. Crew was very professional and polite. The Supervisor Ken was extremely diligent on our walk through! I can hardly wait to get our inside patio fence painted. Super job! Thanks so much.

I highly recommend ATD. From the moment Adam arrived he was incredibly professional. He walked us through color choices and provided us with a fair and written estimate. The crew that arrived did an excellent job and completed ahead of schedule. We even added on extra rooms due to damage done by the previous owner before we moved it. They even filled some chunks missing from the wall. The paint looks beautiful and we can enjoy our new home in comfort. I would definitely hire them again! The price I’ve listed below was actually a great price for the large spaces that they pained so please don’t let that scare you. The house is over 4500 sq feet and the basically did the entire downstairs and two staircases. Also keep in mind that sometimes you get what you pay for. We couldn’t be happier.

THey are wonderful and did a perfect job. They moved everything out of the way and protected the carpets. They cleaned up and left nothing behind. I will definitely hire them again!

Everything went great, from my initial and subsequent meetings with J.C., to supervisors appearing everyday on the job, to nonstop workers painting. Took five days, and these guys did not let up! They had added difficulty in that my walls are faux painted and I wanted to ensure that they did not damage my walls in any way. They were very meticulous and took extra care to make sure that they taped off to the cabinets instead of the walls and then brush painted on the edges of the cabinets so as not to touch the faux paint, which could not be matched. Extremely pleased with everything! Great job!

When the job started the supervisor came by everyday in the morning and afternoons to check progress. They even texted us pictures while we were out of town. Once the job was done, we asked for a few touch ups and they handled them without hesitation. These guys did very high quality work, we were very impressed. The owner even came by at the end of the job to inspect the final product and make sure we were content.

The good - Over all the house looks great and the colors really pop. The bad - It took me 3 phone calls from me to get them to schedule a date to do the painting and then when I needed to reschedule, because I was unexpectedly going to be out of town, it took 3 more phone calls to get them to reschedule the date. I was told they would be at the house by 9 the day they scheduled and at 10 they still weren't there. There was rain in the area, but none by my house. I had to call to find out where they were, they didn't call to let me know they wouldn't be there. Once they started they worked quick, but I was told it would be a 1 1/2 day job and it turned into 2 full days. After they left I was checking the job and found there were paint splatters on the fence and paint on the brick porch floor. They also did not clean up all the caulk they pulled out, it was left on the ground and porches. Over all the house does look great, but there are some communication issues and clean up issues. I don't know if I'd use them again.

I contacted Jeff to come give an estimate. He walked around and took measurements and gave me an estimate right away. I called a few days later to accept the estimate and sign the contract. We were open with our schedule for the actual work. Victor and his crew showed up when stated and worked a whole day. Jeff came to check on his crew and explain some things to me on the first day of work. Victor and his crew returned the next day to finish the job. Overall, excellent work.

They are excellent. They had a guy who did can do it and there's no special price for that. They're excellent detailed oriented. They have eight people with one head man. They're fantastic. They gave three prices made. They came on right with the others; but their offer is very much and I use the highest quality paint. They guarantee it for three years. He's name is Mike. They're really good. I would recommend them. They were great.

I had an absolutely superb experience with ATD! Rachel provided an on the spot written estimate the day after I called. She even came out on a Sunday! After I called her back to accept the offer, she came back out and took her time helping me pick out colors and going over everything I needed done. She then had my house on the schedule within a week. The crew that did the job showed up on time and were very professional. They completed the work very quickly and I was quite frankly amazed by their attention to detail. As the job was progressing, I was constantly checking for things they might need to correct. Before they were done, they had found every one of them and I never had to say a thing! Jeff, the owner, also came out to make sure everything was going as planned, as did Rachel. Special thanks to Omar, who answered all my questions and did a fine job making sure everything was completed to such a high standard. The house looks great and I've received several positive comments from my neighbors. In summary, I'm extremely pleased with the folks at ATD and would highly recommend their services to anyone. I will certainly use them again in the future.

We found them on Angie’s List and we have used them a couple of times since then. The service is great. They are cheaper than anyone we have ever used and the quality of their work is really good. There was nothing to clean up. The painted the outside and everything was fine.

Company was prompt in coming out to give an estimate. It took three days of calling back to set the appointment for Oct 2nd. I would call, a message was taken but then no return call as promised. I should have known then, that this job would not go well. When I finally did reach someone, they said that I was scheduled for October 2nd. Not sure how that happened but the day worked for me so I made arrangements for my daughter to be home until she had to leave for work, and booked the job. Oct 2nd - Painters were supposed to show up at 9 am. When they arrived, they said they could not stay because they had to finish another job but would be back at 11:30. By 12:30, they had not returned. I called the office and someone said they would get back to me. Jeff the owner called me and left a message. When I called back he apologized and gave a long list of why they were not at my house. I told him I did not need to hear the reasons why just whether his guys were going to show up. He said they would be at my house within the hour (by now it was close to 1:00 pm) and should finish before the end of the day. I questioned this because the two sets of built-ins are very large with drawers, etc. He said "your job is about 1500.00, right? We always finish that size job in one day". This concerned me because he did not do the estimate so had never seen the job. His estimator (Racheal, I think) had said that it might take more than a day but they were pretty fast so they might finish.....So my understanding was they were going to get there, set up their paint equipment, cover and seal off the room, seal the nail holes, caulk, prime, let all of that dry, and paint these two large sets of built ins in about 4 hours give or take a few minutes. Since it was close to 1:00 when we were talking and the painters were not even on their way yet, I made the assumption that they would not arrive till approx 2:00. According to the business owner, their hours are from 8:30-6:00 pm which would have left 4 hrs of work time. I told him that my daughter had to go to work at 4:00 so I did not think it was worth starting the job this late in the day. He said they would not do the job unless they had "reasonable access" to the house. He continued by saying that reasonable access means 9-6pm - their working hours - because they did not want to set up their equipment, etc. and not be allowed to finish the job - it takes a lot of prep to paint. Now remember, just minutes earlier he was going to set up and complete this job in approx 4 hrs. I had given them 7 hrs today and offered to let them do it in the same time frame tomorrow but now this was not "reasonable". He said I could leave his painters in the house alone but even though they are a bonded company, I was not comfortable with that arrangement. We talked about doing the job Monday but again, I would have to give "reasonable access" to the house (9-6) for a 4 hr (his estimate by wanting to do the job on Oct 2nd) job. I could do that on Monday but tried to tell him why that was so inconvenient for my family. We went to a lot of trouble to unhook and move the TV's/satellite/etc. Since one of them was the main TV for our satellite network, when we unhooked it, it knocked all the other TVs in the house offline. If you've ever dealt with this, you know what a pain it can be...So now I have the choice of going without TV for the next 4 days (Friday-Monday at least) or hooking everything back up and tearing it down again Monday morning.) Jeff said that he didn't need to hear about all that. In the end he said he didn't want the job and I certainly did not want him to do the job. With his attitude and lack of commitment to his customers, I have no faith in his ability to get the job done right or stand behind his work.

Prompt and quick. I did have to point out a few places where they missed or splattered. I felt as though they should have noticed, but they did correct issues as I pointed them out.

I called to discuss painting the exterior trim and entryways of my house. Rachel came out for an estimate just a couple days later. She looked at all the areas that needed painting, pointed out areas that they would repair (some I didn't even know about), and helped me select colors. They came out and did the work the very next day - cleaning, scraping old paint, making repairs where needed, caulking all the seams and windows, and finally painting. The crew was very polite professional, and the work was impeccable. I will definitely use them again.

I think they did a great job. Very professional, keep job site clean and cleaned up very well afterwards. Would recommend and will use again if needed.

It turned out good. I thought it was two coats and they only did one coat. The paint they used was good though so one coat covered pretty well. There were a lot of issues regarding when the service would take place, but they stayed in contact with me all the way through. They were timely when they did come out.

The did the interior first and they worked with me to do the interior in stages so that we only had to pack up and prep part of the house at any given time. They were very careful about making sure that they put stuff down on the floor and protected anything that was left in the room, they cleaned up at the end of each phase and did a good job. They came back, there were only tow things that we noticed after the work was done, where we wanted an extra touch up and they were very happy to do that. They did a walk through after each phase to make sure that they've taken care of everything that they were supposed to. They did a really nice job, I'm very happy with them and I've already recommended them to other friends.
