Merry Maids of New Braunfels

Lousy - no cleaning products were used; the bathroom shower drain had a wad of hair and the glass tiles were not cleaned; kitchen sink was not cleaned; dust on obvious places; items and wall hangings pushed around and left askew; broke automatic trash can (how?). They offered to come back but I said no; I didn't have availability and work in SA and certainly wouldn't leave them unattended. Christine (manager) would not return or take my call; never did. When I asked for David Cantu's (the owner I was told) contact info I was told they didn't have it. They finally ageed to refund part of the money (approx $95); saying they would only charge for the time they were here - one hour and 15 minutes. They refuse to reimburse or comment on broken can. The stove top was not cleaned; microwave not cleaned. I would never recommend or use again. Not trustworthy. Only good thing I can say is that Fauna who has taken the majority of my calls has excellent customer service skills and has handled herself very well. The fact that the manager will not take calls speaks volumes.

I would use them again in the future.

They come regularly.

First of all they did not show up until 4:00 (2 hours late) without a courtesy call. They got there at 4:00 and were gone by 4:30 so apparently they completed the deep clean from top to bottom in 30 minuets. When we got home we went over the list of what they were supposed to do and not half of the work was done. We decided that they were no longer going to clean our house and tried to terminate our contract, but they said that we now owe them the full price of 350$ for the deep clean they didn't even do. Needless to say I would not suggest this company to anyone.

Work contracted for and not done or done poorly: Cleaning of baseboards, doors and door frames, under beds and furniture, cobwebs on walls, ceiling fans, light switch plates, windowsills, upstairs bathroom (toilet & shower), 1 downstairs toilet. Floors (all tile and hardwood) in entire house were done with 1 small bucket of dirty water. Each visit 1 room was supposed to receive special attention on a rotating basis. This was never done. When all of us had to be gone one day, they rushed to finish and left early (each time was supposed to take 2 hours for a team of 2), leaving, among other things, kitchen counters not even touched; they were sticky from spilled sweet drinks left by grandchildren! Frequently spent less time than they were supposed to, and that included smoke breaks for one of them, who left cigarette butts on the driveway! Last day we had them here, a stairwell wall was damaged; paint and plaster was knocked off the wall (about a half dollar in size). Second week they were here, I called to complain and left a message for the general manager of the New Braunfels store. He said he never received the message, and I was confronted by one of the maids the next time they came, which was uncomfortable. We finally decided to terminate our contract. The general manager refused to give us any but a token reduction of the ETF. He pushed for sending another crew out to redo the work, but by that time we were so unhappy we refused.

The house was not cleaned to even a minimal standard. After an inspection by the office manager, they did re-clean our home. It was still not cleaned to standard. It was obvious they cater to cliental that do not see or pay attention to dust and cobwebs.

We had Liz come out and give us a quote to do a deep cleaning for us as we were getting ready to move into a rental. The quote seemed higher than others but I did like how she listed it on paper so we knew exactly what we were getting and that she came to the house for the quote, i figured by paying more, we were getting more...not the case. The cleaning ladies came before we moved in so I'm not sure how long they were there cleaning. I'd say they did an OKAY job....I really thought for the price the place would be SPOTLESS...it was not. There were cobwebs in areas I could reach without a ladder, one of the chandeliers wasn't dusted, part of the wooden blinds in some rooms could have used a better cleaning. The baseboards weren't done to my expectations...I assumed that they'd wipe them down, when I called about it I was told they use a duster and "dust" them....for the amount of money we spent I felt like they should have wiped them down...I ended up going around and wiping them myself as well as getting the cobwebs. Bottom line, I feel like I could have done the job better than they did...it was just basic cleaning, nothing I would have expected from a professional cleaning company. They do guarantee their work, however my idea of clean wasn't the same as theirs...yes, they "dusted" the baseboards and yes they "dusted the wooden blinds but if they had a heavier coating of dust of them and the sweep of the duster didn't take it off, that wasn't part of their quote.

They come every three weeks. I like they way clean and they do a good job.

They worked hard and did a reasonably good job. They used their own equipment to clean.

One thing I made clear was that they could not contact me at the house as we had moved and it would be empty, but we would meet them to let them in. I also told them that it was a 50 mile drive from our new home to the old one. The next 3 week cleaning they showed upon time and did a good job. Before the next cleaning schedule I called and asked if we could change the date from Thursday to Wednesday, but they could not facilitate that change until the next week. They called on Tuesday evening and confirmed the time, 1:00 PM. On Wednesday, we arrived at the house at 12:45 PM, no one showed up at 1:30 PM, so we locked the house and left. When we arrived back at our new home, at 3:00 PM. There were no messages on our machine, so I called Merry Maids, and said how unhappy I was. It was explained to me that their cleaners had a short window for showing up, they could be 30 minutes late. I explained they exceeded their window. The manager said well they tryed to call you and asked if I wanted to reschedule, I told her I would call her back. I checked the calls on my phone and found they had called at 2:23 PM and left no message. I called the manager back and told her they were fired. I do not remember the manager ever apologizing or using the word sorry. When I noted to her before I ended the telephone call, I said I was going to write this up for Angie's List and pass on my experience to the person who recommended them. I would not recommend them.

Did not have the work performed, estimate was too high.

The people who came to do the work were personable, eager to do the cleaning well, and also on time. The cost was a little high though, and they could not always come when we desired. The big problem, however, was that they always sent different people. This meant that we had to show them the house, and what we wanted cleaned every single time. It became such a hassle; we decided to discontinue service with them.

We are not happy with the quality of the cleaning job, done by Merry Maids. They did not seem to put much effort or pride in what they did. There were different people sent, who were not familiar with our house. There were also several occasions when they did not even show up, or call to let us know they would not be able to make it. After a few months we had finally had enough, and found another cleaning company.

The cleaning assistants have always been on time, and display excellent manners, when inside our house. If there is something extra we would like cleaned there is no hesitation on their part. My wife and I genuinely like the people who are sent, and the job is done extremely well. This is no easy task, considering the size of our house. We should have hired them years ago.

I been using Merry Maids in my home for years. The first lady they used to send out, I didn t care for too much. The lady who has been coming for the past year is great. I really trust her in my home. She sits down and has great conversations with me. I like to confide in her from time to time. I love the work she does. Everything always looks beautiful.

I had been laid up with back problems for a few months and the cleaners did a wonderful job filling in for me. They cleaned the house better than I had. They were prompt both times we called, and had very outgoing personalities. There were two women sent, it took them about five hours to do the whole house. If we could afford it we would call them twice a month, on a regular basis.

I cannot say enough about Merry Maids; they are a great company. I only used them one time. I am considering using them again because I liked them so much. My house looked awesome, everything was spic & span. I do not know the price because Merry Maids were a gift to me from my daughter; therefore, I did not have to pay anything. I did love the lady who came to the house. She was very nice to me & she made sure she asked me before moving anything around. I felt as if I was treated like a regular customer. Not just a one time cleaning where they took advantage of me.

OVERALL EXPERIENCE WAS VERY GOOD. THEY WERE PUNCTUAL AND QUITE PLEASANT. I FELT THE PRICE WAS QUITE FAIR FOR TWO CLEANING SPECIALIST. MY ONE SUGGESTION WOULD BE THAT THEY USE MORE TRADITIONAL TYPES OF MOPS TO CLEAN THE FLOORS. THE TERI CLOTH TOWELS THEY USE DON'T SEEM TO GET THE FLOORS AS CLEAN AS THE MORE ORDINARY MOPS.
