ADR Construction

Andy was extremely polite, helpful and patient as he assisted my wife in figuring out the details of the job (color of paint, styles of painting, addition of architectural trim, modification of cabinetry, colors for masonry repair). He offered many ideas regarding how we could spruce up the house without getting into major projects. For example, the kitchen cabinets needed to be refinished. Competing contractors offered to remove, refinish, and replace the cabinets for many $thousands. Andy had them refinished in-place for half the cost. (Of course, remove/replace would have been a higher quality job, but the in-place approach was what we were looking for.) Another example: We initially thought we'd like to add some fancy architectural wood trim and Andy actually bought some wood and did some carpentry to show us how it would look. (He was very flexible about cancelling that part of the work when we changed our minds.) Another example: When the painter found rotten wood, Andy repaired it. Andy does cabinet and trim work himself. He is a skilled craftsman, and he bent over backwards to redo some cabinets when they did not turn out the way we expected. Now this is really amazing: He was in constant phone contact with us, and tradesmen arrived punctually. Now the not-so-good news: We had discussions with Andy about our fussy little needs. However, when tradesmen arrived at the door, all they seemed to know was "I'm here to do sheet rock" or "I'm here to install electric wiring". I assumed they were aware of the details, but not so. Some of the details we desired were left undone. The homeowner needs to direct tradesmen regarding the detailed scope of the job and must be prepared to withhold payment until totally satisfied. (That said, the bulk of the work was done fast and was of good quality.) In summary, Andy is an amazing one-of-a-kind general contractor: low-cost, flexible, punctual, efficient, friendly, helpful (my wife loves him). All of the tradesmen were skilled, showed up on time, and worked fast!!!!!

It went very well, took about one week beyond estimated time. All his workers were polite, careful, and efficient. Andy came by almost every day, and did some of the jobs himself..such as cabinet painting, and installed an additional custom-made cabinet.
