After buying our house, there was a number of small plumbing questions and fixes I had all around. He patiently walked around with me and addressed all of my questions and concerns either with knowledgeable advice or with a fix. He explained everything and I was very happy with the service.

The technician arrived 10 minutes before the schedule time. He clearly explained what was going on each steps, and didn't mind answering questions. Good respectable company.

My daughter called Big State Plumbing about a leaking hot water tank in Lake Jackson TX and got a great estimate to replace the hot water tank with a natural gas tank. Big State even worked to get the replacement cost approved by our home warranty before starting so that eventually we could be reimbursed. Big State showed up on time, removed the old, installed the new, and cleaned up. Very nice, very professional, happy to have a company to use in the future.

I bought the Angie's List special since it was a very good price. The installer came and did an assessment of the work required and made an appointment to return at a later day with the new heater and all supplies. When the installer returned, I noticed that the new heater was wider than the old one. I thought this could be a problem due to the tight location where it was going to be installed. The installer said that he would make it work. Sometime later, the installer realized that indeed space was going to be a problem, so he started calling his home office to see if there was a smaller heater. Since, they could not locate one, he proceeded with the installation. But as he progressed, things kept looking much more difficult to connect. It came a point where after a good number of hours of him trying, he had to make an appointment to return the next day. The installations turned out to be a much bigger project than anticipated, requiring many more hours and two installers. Although this was not what I expected, I was greatly impressed by the level of professionalism demonstrated by both installers. The second one was a master plumber with a lot of experience, and he was able to resolve the problems. All this time I felt that they were concerned for me and my family, and they made every effort to fix everything right. They never got frustrated, and all along they kept being friendly even when the project required a couple of late nights to complete the work. The owner was in touch with the installers making sure that they were able to fix the issues, and I thought that overall they did a great job in making the best of a difficult situation. Another thing that impressed me is their level of integrity. Since they originally assessed that it was going to be a normal installation, and I also pointed out later on, before the installation, that the new heater was likely not going to fit, when the problems occurred, they absorbed all the extra expenses to remediate the situation. This to me shows that this is a company to keep as an A+ preferred provider for all your future plumbing needs. Great job guys! Thank you!

Chris assessed that it was not a hose problem unfortunately, but a dishwasher problem. I will have to find an appliance repairman on angie's list, but I am sure I will not be disappointed

We were scheduled for 12-4. We never heard from anyone by 4, so we called. They told us they would be there in 1 hour. No one showed up until 6:30. We will never use them again. They could have at least made some phone contact. Very unhappy with their customer service.

They cleaned the drain but never did the camera inspection.

The man was very nice. There were two other questions I asked other than what he did. He did what I asked. I asked him about a toilet that wasn't flushing how I'd like it to and a sink that was backing up. He told me he would go out to his truck to find liquid plumber and came back saying he did not have any.

The person who took my call was nice and professional; indicated the company doesn't offer estimates over the phone even for straightforward jobs. Set an appointment for Saturday 4-6pm, but 4-6pm on Saturday came and went without a contact or a visit. A call back to the company at 7pm was answered, although it seemed to take a while to find my original call details. I was connected with the on-call plumber who indicated that "he was about to call". I re-indicated the work I wanted done and he offered an immediate estimate (was "in the book") - which is what I originally would have thought was the case. The price estimate came in at 330 (taxes, shop fee inclusive), which I felt was excessive for what the plumber indicated was a 30-45 minute job - I don't think even doctors charge 400-600/hr. I was a little disappointed that the time came and went without contact - I wasn't surprised at the delay since unexpected complications/emergencies occur, but I would have appreciated knowing that I didn't need to be locked at the house for that time. I also didn't appreciate that the standard estimate couldn't have been immediately provided. I felt the price was overdone, but still have other estimate requests out - might be that exorbitant hourly rate is the going rate in Houston. Might be time for me to become a plumber.

Big State Plumbing, Inc was quick on responding after I purchase my Angie's List Offer. I was able to schedule to an appt within the following week and within the time period I had requested. The technician called about 10 minutes before showing up within the 4 hour appt window I was given (8am-12pm). The technician wore a business logo shirt and showed his company ID when he was met at the door. He reviewed the Angie's List Offer and understood what he was there to do. He and another person-in-training were both wearing "booties" on their shoes inside our house. After all the inspections, we sat down to discuss his findings and also review a list of items he was suggesting should be handled within the near future. We were given a statement of work handled and an estimate of suggested fixes via email; received these before the technician even left the house. The technicians were courteous and did not pressure us with the suggested estimate.

Chris and Eric did a great job. They arrived on time (in the cold rain), and got to work promptly. They identified some issues with the old water heater and found that it was full of sediment. Chris clearly explained the issues and gave me a quote on the additional costs involved. Then they began work and completed everything within an hour or so. I wouldn't hesitate to call them again for any plumbing issues.

He charged me an additional $20 for the shop fee (glue, fuel, paper towel, gloves and other misc items.) I find this really underhanded. I asked him to do two small things for me. He changed a shower head and tightened screws. He did that well. I wrote him a check for $20 for the two small items. I would have no complaints at all if I would not have been charged the additional $20 for the shop fee. I don't think this is a way to do business. He should have listed out and mentioned additional charges on the deal. They $20 was not clearly was not clearly on the ad. It said $79 and that's what I attended to pay. What you should have had was $99 plus tax.

We had another plumbing company out the previous day who wanted to charge us about $750.00.We didn't use this person, and when he left ( after paying a service charge ) he took the paper work where I had written down the estimate. When the plumber came out from Big State, it was an altogether different experience! He knew right away what the problem was . His name is Jim Mason and I want him to come out when we have any problems.He was extremely courteous and professional. We will stay with this company forever! We were leery at first, but he soon put us at ease. I cannot say enough about this company and Jim Mason.

He arrived on time to the appointment. He spent about an hour on the consultation. Everything was fine.

Had a very good experience with Big State Plumbing. The plumber showed up on time, was very nice and courteous, quickly fixed the broken pipe and made sure I was pleased with the job. Plus, the timing couldn't have been better as they were running an Angie's List special that paid for 2/3 of my bill.I'll definitely call them the next time I need plumbing services.

The plumber was on time. When I explained and then demonstrated the problem of the pipe rattle, he looked in the attic. Finding nothing obvious he made some phone calls and after some talking suggested adding air-arrestors in the attic. The estimate for 4 of these was right around $900. Now this plumber didn't have me turn on/off the water while he felt any exposed pipe for vibration or listened for noise. The noise has been bothering me for about 5 months so I was almost ready to give it a try. I wanted a 2nd opinion before I spent that amount so I called another plumber who came out 2/17/2015. This plumber went through the same initial steps of looking in the attic but then went outside to turn off any back flow valves and other things. Nothing helped at all. But then he had an idea and put his ear to the wall in various places while I turned the water on/off. After doing this a bit, he said that it might be the shower faucet cartridge because Delta's have some pressure valve. I had absolutely no faith that this could help but it was cheap and I had the part anyway. We swapped that part and the problem went away. So it really paid to get my 2nd opinion. .Now for Big State Plumbing, I would use them again if it was a very obvious issue (leaking pipe/faucet, clogged drain), something that has an obvious solution. If their price was right, I wouldn't mind using them for things like that. They were on time and polite. However I would not consider them if I thought the work would be challenging or hard to diagnose. I know nothing about plumbing so I need some confidence that when they suggest work it is probably a real solution

Jim arrived right on time. He was friendly and professional. He replaced our kitchen faucet and fixed our leaky toilet handily. We hired Big State through the Angie's List Big Deal of $99 for $250 worth of plumbing. We will hire Big State again for future plumbing needs.

Showed up within time frame promised. Cleaned up work area. Unclogged the drain and found a problem with the camera inspection.

Initially I just wanted an estimate and was referred to Big State Plumbing by Angie's List. When I went to work they turned the water back on and the home was flooded again. When I came home the only work they had done was to put a piece of pipe on the leak. The kitchen flooring was all flooded again, and they charged me $300 for the work when I only wanted an estimate. I have had to put fans on the floor to try and dry everything out again. They have offered nothing other than to come back out and charge me again. There service was totally unprofessional and terrible.

The actual install itself went okay. I was overall pleased with the office staff, the installer less so. The hot water heater is great! It was after the installer left that I had some issues. He had tracked blown insulation all over my upstairs landing and down my stairs. Then I went into the bathroom and discovered that he had broken my ceiling (stepping through in the attic). I called the office and told them what happened. The woman I spoke to immediately apologized and asked for photos of both the insullation & the ceiling. I sent them to her and she sent the installer back. He came back a few hours later. When he initally arrived before going upstairs, he denied that he could have stepped through the ceiling. He did offer to clean up after himself at that time. He went up to the attic and to the bathroom and then told me that he thought maybe his assitant who had been there briefly had done it. The office told me to call my own contractor (loved that as I have contractor that work with regularly) and send them the invoice. Once I had the invoice (there was a long delay that was my fault), a check was cut the following day.

The line was fairly well blocked by roots and mud. Camera inspection was used before the plumber seemed to be finished trying to clear the line from the clean out end. As a result, he suggested removing the toilet and augering from the other direction (from the toilet). He was succesful, but it cost me and extra $375. I think he should have finished augering from the clean out end before he gave up, but I'm not a plumber, so I'll have to trust his judgement. In fact, he was much more tenacious and proactive once he started augering from the toilet end. If I had kinown that he was able to push the equipment that hard, I would have suggested he tried harder from the original spot before I agreed to spend an extra $375.
