Chris showed up and was professional. Chris even wore bags over his shoes to not get my floors dirty. After the initial drain inspection was done and it was determined that the drain pipe was broken. Chris gave me different options on how to fix the problem. After I decided just to reroute the drain pipe instead of repairing it we scheduled a day to come out. Chris did come out on the day we scheduled, but due to excessive standing water in my backyard from heavy rains we had to reschedule. When the new day came, Chris called and said he couldn't make it. This did annoy me since we did have an appointment. Big State Plumbing actually tried to reschedule the appointment a week later, but do to weather concerns I told them that was unacceptable. They agreed and rescheduled for the very next business day. The second rescheduling was probably the only negative aspect of this job, but since Big State moved around other jobs to get to my sooner it was acceptable. On the day they actually came out to do the job they were fast and professional. They had to dig a trench in my backyard to reroute the drain pipe. The trench was covered as best as they could and they tried to save my grass to put back on top of the trench. The pipe coming out of my house is cleanly done and now my drain works very well.

Technician (Willie) was extremely experienced and on close inspection was able to confirm that no corrosion was evident. No repair work was therefore necessary. Technician was very accommodating and detailed his findings on a formal service email.

On 5/3/15 my washing machine drainage started flowing into my kitchen. After checking Angie's List, my husband called Big State who made an appointment to come on 5/5/15 between 4pm and 6pm. They missed that appointment, and the next on 5/6/15, and when they hadn't shown up by 5:00pm on the third day, I called Big State to see if they were actually coming. Told them I hadn't done laundry since Sunday and Monica suggested I use a laundry mat. Eric finally showed up at 5:45, did the camera inspection, but didn't have the equipment on him to do the hydrojet cleanout. Eric quoted me the price of $625 depending on what he found. Said he would be back tomorrow, but needed to make sure with dispatch. Got a call on Friday that he wouldn't be able to come back until Saturday between 4pm and 6pm. Saturday came and at 1pm I called and spoke to Monica about the probability of them actually showing up today. I was promised between 4-6pm. At 6:30pm I called and told the answering service to tell them not to come. Eric called my husband at 8pm and said they could be there at 8:30pm. He also told Eric not to come. Monday I got a call from the office manager Yuli who apologized and asked if we would give them another try. Three strikes . . . I told Yuli I wasn't going to pay for work not completed, and she told me she would take it to the upper management to see if they would charge me anything. She would let me know by email. I haven't received any emails; so do I owe anything or not? Still not sure. We ended up hiring a different plumber who came on Thursday 5/14/15 and apologized for being 2 minutes late! They told us that with our old pipes (cast iron), if Big State had used a hydrojet they would most likely have damaged our pipes because the water pressure would have exasperated any weaknesses caused by age and use. Eric told me that this had happened with Big State before where a pipe broke during a hydrojet and spewed raw sewage over a customers furniture, etc. Our new plumber cleaned out our clean out pipe with a two inch auger and the pipe from the roof using a 3.5 inch auger successfully and for a third of the price of Big State's hydrojet. Big State may have deserved an Angie's List Service award in years past, but they need to refocus their business plan, turn away customers they cannot help, and retrain their staff before they deserve another chance. However, it won't be coming from me.

Purchased the service via a Big Deal package i.e. $99 for $200 worth of service. Had to call and ask exactly what qualified as $200 worth of service and I think that was the one hitch in the promo, because the response I got wasn't clear enough. Should have given me an estimate for the tasks I wanted done (of course with the clause that they wouldn't be able to decide properly till they assessed the work in person) But since I am reviewing the work and not the promo, I won't let that affect the rating I am giving. It went quick and easy. Very professional service from Chris. My husband had bought a rather expensive replacement kit for the shower - we expected to need only one part of the kit but its sold as a whole (very irksome cost-wise) - but Chris got the said part from his truck and used it instead. So we were able to get our money back from Home Depot! And he patiently and politely answered all our questions, and made good recommendations on other things we could do around the house. Summary is, I have found our plumbing company. A+++

I bought the $99 deal for $200 worth of plumbing. I made an appointment through Angie's List and the company responded quickly through email. The plumber came on time and was out in 15 minutes. I had a clogged bathroom sink that would somehow drain out to the bathtub sink adjacent to it. I had already unscrewed and opened the clean out drain in the bathtub so the only thing he had to do was to run a snake through that drain. He was able to remove hair through the clogged bathroom tub and as a result the bathroom sink was able to drain properly without draining directly into the bathtub drain. I also asked him to checked other bathroom to make sure that it don't have any clogs. He told me that unclogging the drain in the other bathroom was already close to $200 and that checking the other bathroom will incur another fee but he will do it for no charge. I'm glad I bought the $99 deal. I think for him to say that $200 just to unclog a simple drain was quite expensive. Overall, communications with the company was excellent. They respond quickly to email and also they called the night before to confirm appointment.

The flush and inspection went fine. The other items in the Deal such as checking water pressure, checking that all faucets are operating properly, dye-testing all toilets, inspecting all emergency shut-off valves, inspecting all exterior water pipes and hose bibs, were not done. If these things were not suppose to be done then they should not have been listed in the Deal. The person that came out was on his cell phone while the water heater was draining which took about 15 minutes. He could have used that time doing the items mentioned above.

First off, toilet repair was very simple and didn't require much. Another company quoted me hundreds of dollars to fix it which wound up not being necessary. I wanted to get a second opinion about our water heater since the first company said we needed to replace it. I was happy with their explanation and went with Big State because their guys were honest and friendly. They explained the whole process clearly and were respectful and professional. I plan to no longer use my current plumbing company and use these guys instead. They were great.

Purchased the deal on Angie's List for 2 hours of plumbing work. Had the plumber check out a puddle in my backyard. Ran a camera down the cleanout and found that the original concrete sewer line that came with the 60 year old house was cracked and full of tree roots. They recommended a replacement that went from 20 to 40 to finally 65 feet as they found more and more line that needed to be replaced. Had to dig out the old line by hand so my backyard was trenched for a week. Final cost was $8,000. They did not offer to re-sod my backyard and they also kept a pile of old sewer pipe in my backyard that they didn't pickup until 4 days after the job was finished. I found out after the fact that I could have gotten the same work done for about $2K less with another plumber who has done work at my house. On a scale of 1-10, I would rate my experience with Big State Plumbing a 5. They did the work that was needed, but the price was high and the customer service was mediocre. I doubt I will use them again.

Terrible. I thought I would get a diagnosis of an issue, and the person that was sent out did not know how to access the line to be able to see if there was a problem. (there is definitely a problem, water back flows into the house instead of draining) No one from the company ever called even though he said that he would have someone call, and I followed up twice trying to reschedule with someone that could perform the test I had paid for

Big State Plumbing did a fantastic job! They quickly responded via email and set up an appointment on following day(Saturday). He came to do the work at the time promised and was very courteous and professional. The work was completed efficiently and was of very high quality. We would use Big State Plumbing again in a heart beat!

I called around 10:30 am to get someone out to check out a clogged drain line. The receptionist said she could have someone over between noon and 4pm. I was surprised when the plumber showed up at 11:30. He ran a snake machine down the line and was backing out of the driveway by 12:30. Everyone I dealt with at Big State was very courteous and professional, and next time I have a plumbing problem they'll be the first ones I call.

Showed up on time. Did a great job. Some upsell. But overall happy with what they did.

I was very impressed by the Chris, the service rep who did the work for me. He was very informative and helpful and did an excellent job on the installations. He arrived at 4 PM and was all done by 5:30, and was very clean and efficient during the whole process. He even provided some advice on a couple other problem areas in my house. The cost was fully disclosed and agreed to prior to any work being done - there were no surprises! I would say his knowledge and expertise seemed top tier, and I will definitely use this company again for my future plumbing needs!

Reciew is too time consuming.

I was having problems with our water heater not producing any hot water. Called Big State Plumbing yesterday and a plumber came to the house last night to assess the problem. Water heater was 12 years old and was leaking water. The price quoted for a new heater was very fair and reasonable. Crew came out by 10:30 the next day and installed a new water heater in an 1 1/2 hours! Very impressed with the professionalism of the crew. Will definitely be calling Big State Plumbing for all my plumbing needs in the future!!

My wife contacted Big State, after finding their review on Angie's List, on the evening of April 8, 2015. We had no hot water in the house. They addressed my wife's concerns and set an appointment for the next morning. Two technicians arrived the next morning (Shane & Tyler). They inspected the hot water heater and found it to be in bad order (leaking), and recommended a replacement. Their pricing was fair compared to pricing I had received several years back for a similar unit. They proceeded to replace the heater. After it was installed they flushed our hot water circulating loop and found it to have silt and dirt in the system. They then proceeded to inspect the circulating pump and found it to be in bad order. They installed a replacement pump, with an upgraded unit, tested the system and left with all working properly. They also cleaned up after themselves, even vacuuming the upstairs carpet. They were very courteous and professional. To prevent future failures they also suggested installation of a water softener. We will consider this in the future.

The first time the plumber came out he was to come between 4 and 6 and came at 8:30 PM. He called and said he was late. So that was ok. However, one of the sinks that was fixed continued to leak. It took 3 appointments which were rescheduled to realize that we must have the first appointment of the day to actually get service. The second plumber fixed the leak.

It was a very pleasant experience as he arrived on time, did the work quickly and had parts needed. It was a clean correct installation. Would use them again.

I am changing the review after discovering numerous leaking gas and water pipes. Stay away. Litigation Pending

Technician showed up on time and explained the whole process prior to camera inspection. He provided bids for the repairs which was lower than Roto Rooter substantially. I would definitely use them for any repairs in the future.

He was prompt, courteous, and knowledgable. The leak was fixed perfectly. However, the water cycling returned to be a problem in about a week. We still have the problem.
