Shane came out on time and was a Pro at all he said and did. He gave me options and was very knowledgeable, answered all my questions fully and patiently. I was easily able to make a choice for service with a great warranty that I was comfortable with. Also a great guy to talk with and deal with all the way thru the whole process. He was back promptly the next morning and brought a second person to make the job faster, they had the job done and the water back on in a very reasonable time frame. They also cleaned up the entire area very well when the job was completed. The price was a little bit higher than others, but I believe you get what you pay for, and I did get a discount. I will use them in the future!!!

The upstairs sink was filling up seemingly by itself, but they determined it was the AC condensation backing up into the sink because of a severe clog. He cleaned out the gunk in the sink quickly and efficiently. The charge of $180 was a bit higher than one would expect for this service, but he did travel a long way from Bay City to Clear Lake with no complaints. Plus, we thought it was a much bigger problem, so I'm very grateful that he didn't try to upsell us when we didn't need it. Great job! We will be calling again.

i had a leak in my bathroom ceiling and Big State Plumbing determined that the problem was from roof vents leaking. he thoroughly checked attic to find the source of the problem. very thorogh, friendly and professional. i will definitely keep them in mind for the future!

It was OK and it was just one guy and he was fine.

It went fine. It was a pretty minor situation there. The fellow did a real thorough job.

They were really good. They took care of the job really quick. He left the place clean. The price was good I was expecting it to go way up higher. It was interesting that we had to change the schedule a couple of time and with plumbing you never know from job to job when they will show up. They were here. They did a great job. They were prompt and swift.

Slight delay due to City not coming and marking the lines in a timely manner, then it rained. Not any fault of the company. They dug the trench with a small backhoe and replaced the line, re-set the grass and were on their way all in one day. Knowledgeable folks.

plumber recommended a new toilet - quoted Western toilet for $ 650 and Kohler for $ 950. Approved installation of Western. On Day of installation he showed up with a Vortens brand telling my wife he couldn't get a Western brand but the Vortens was comparable to the Kohler. Researching toilets I find that the Vortens brand is an extremely cheap toilet with a history of bowl cracks. (I found one online for $95). Vortens is being sued by consumers to recover damages caused by the leaks. ( I just sent Big State an email to address the issues so they haven't had a chance to respond yet. I will revise this review based on their response). In my opinion this is a classic "bait and switch" maneuver. Second issue - Second time I've used Big State. First experience was ok however I didn't get my Angies discount even though I told their dispatcher when setting the appointment I was an Angies List members. Plumber did the work but told me he couldn't give me the discount because I didn't tell him before he made the invoice. It was a small job so I let it go. On the toilet job the plumber quoted me $ 650 to install the toilet. I told him I was an Angies List member and he immediately replied he had "already figured in the Angies List discount". I have no way of knowing if I got the discount or not. The plumber did discount the sales tax on the quote so the total amount to be paid was $ 650. In reviewing the invoice Big State put the tax back in. At this point I can not recommend this company nor will I use them in the future. Update: Big State responded before 8 am the day I emailed them with my issue. Jolee the office manager promised to investigate and respond quickly. After speaking with the plumber that did the install she decided to have him return and install a new Kohler toilet at no additional expense which was done the next morning. She also credited the invoice error. I am am satisfied with the end result and appreciate Big State's quick response and solution. It's obvious they stand behind their work. Not sure why we had the issue in the first place but suspect it was more of a problem with the plumber.

Tech showed up on time. Went right to work and was on his way in less than 90 minutes.

From the moment I contacted them, they were very helpful and available. The work was done very professional and quick, knowledgeable and friendly. I have them on my speedial now as my "go to" plumbers

Everything went great, would definately recommend! I was able to make on appointment through the Angie's List message center. A few hours before they called to say another job finished early and if I was available, the plumber could come by then, which I was - so timing was perfect. When he arrived he wore shoe protectors and even entertained my crazy puppy! He was extremely knowledgable about the issues causing the leak. He started very basic then worked his way up to troubleshoot the issue giving us both short term and long term advice. The charge for about an hour and a half of his time was about $150, then I used the $50 Angie's List discount. This place is on our list to call for any future issues.

Technician was wonderfully helpful, courteous and found our tank. Now we can proceed with a clean out and septic install.

First of all I want to make it clear that no work was actually performed. It never got past their attempt to tripple the price. I called to get Angie's List "Plumbing - Drain Clean...$189 for Drain Cleaning with Camera Inspection". The person on the phone would not verify the price and told me she didn't know much about Angie's List. She indicated that the plumber would have to verify when he got to the job site. Being anxious to get the problem taken care of, I went ahead and scheduled immediately. When the plumber arrived, he took a quick look and announced that the price was actually $600. When I reminded him of the price on Angie's list he started talking about branch lines versus main lines and how he'd have to remove the water closet. I'm not sure if he was saying that it was worth $411.00 extra to R/R the toilet, but it just sounded like a bunch of BS to me, so I sent him on his way. Luckily the plumbing service that I have used in the past, S & B in Sugar Land ,found a crack in their schedule, so they called me right after the Big State guy left. Within an hour of the time that he called, the drain was flowing again. No BS, no need to remove the "water closet", no $600. and no big deal. My total was $180.

The only redeeming quality that I can even comment on was the average politeness (albeit not very professional) of the administrative staff since they were the only contact I had. Had I not called several times over the course of two days to check on the ETA of a technician, I'm curious if they'd have bothered to contact me to alert me to the scheduling. I'm shocked they have the best rating, as this is possibly the worst customer service I've ever experienced. And boy! have I dealt with more than my fair share of terrible contractors, being the property manager of a small apartment community. If you have other things to do in your life, I would not hold out for this company to accommodate your needs in any way. Granted this was a quote for possible work, but I am possible NEW BUSINESS!! And now I've wasted an entire week and must start again from scratch. Just annoying.

Big State was able to sent someone for same day service to repair a faulty shower valve, they arrived on-time (and even called ahead when they were on their way), completed the repair promptly, wore shoe coverings so as not to track anything in the house, and were very professional. All in all a great experience, thanks!

Bathroom drain: Didn't seem like he did anything. I had cleaned out underneath so he could clean out the trap. No indication of anything being touched - I should have watched him. Went back to having a bad smell the next day. Kitchen faucet: He said he didn't have an aerator and used one from a hardly ever used upstairs bathroom - that was fine with me. To stop the dripping, he used one of the several replacement cartridges that I had purchased. He said it was the right one. Not dripping while he was there - next day, dripping again and the water pressure is half what it was. I did not want to have him return to re-fix the above, as he was smirky the entire time, like my issues weren't challenging enough for him.

The customer service with Big State Plumbing was great. Yolee (not sure if I spelled correctly) was the customer service/operator that assisted me with my call. She answered all of my questions and booked an appointment right away. Due to strong rains that came into the area the day of scheduled service, I received a courtesy call from Yolee that the service man was on way but was running late due to weather. I was able to reschedule the next morning instead. Shane, the plumber came approx on time, introduced himself and was very polite and professional. Shane was very knowledgeable about the issue I had with clogged drainage. Overall, I had a great experience. I will use Big State Plumbing again in the near future and will refer to others. Thanks.
