Replaced a water heater for a very fair price and fixed my dishwasher as a courtesy while here.

A gas leak was detected by the gas provider, so we called Big State seeing the positive reviews on Angie's List. Two guys came slightly earlier than expected. We had turned the gas valve off the night before and did not open it until Big State arrived. They sprayed the exposed gas pipes immediately with soapy water to detect a leak but no foaming action, so Big State declared no gas leak with the plumbing. I'm not a plumbing expert, but logically, I'm not sure the gas valve was even turned on long enough to detect the leak with soap. Big State performed their test immediately after the gas valve was turned on, not giving a chance for gas to build up. But I still smelled the leak (I have a keen sense of smell) at the valve and underneath the cooktop space. Big State then proceeds to tell me the only best thing to do is to do a gas test on the entire house to detect if there is a leak anywhere. The whole home gas test requires a permit that is $110 and the the remaining service by Big State is over $200. The icing on the cake was when scare tactics were used to get me to check my home. After all this, another alternative recommended to me was to call the cabinet company to drill a hole in the wall to expose the gas pipes. As a homeowner you take the word of the trained professional, so I called the the cabinet company who came over and confirmed with me that drilling a hole would not be much help because the sheet rock would have to be cut into as well. Needless to say I felt like I was chasing my tail and all of this spanned over a week time which is nerve-racking when dealing with a gas leak. I finally called an appliance repair guy who checked my cooktop. There was no malfunction with the appliance itself. Big State was unhelpful and lost my trust at this point to call them back.

The plumber, Juan was courteous, professional, and quick to diagnose my problem. He arrived on time and quickly resolved my problem. I am completely satisfied with my experience with Big State Plumbing, Inc and will call upon them again for future plumbing service.

Appointment was made for between 8 and 12. Got up early to wait for representative to be ready for 8. Received a call at about 11:30 that he was about 30 minutes away. Told him that was fine. IWhen he arrived, he was dressed in his uniform and looked very nice. He mentioned water heater check, and I showed him where it was. He then explained that the water heater should be replace due to its age explaining that there were no supply lines originally installed. Also said that the valves were made of plastic and due to age he would not recommend trying to open them as they may be brittle and bread creating a leak. I agreed with his assessment. However, he never proceeded to the plumbing inspection which included a list of items. Therefore, I mentioned dye-testing the toilets. He then visually inspected one toilet saying that he didn't need dye to determine any leaks. He did not do the other items on the list. I asked for a quote for a new water heater which he provided. I also asked to a bid to replace both toilets, one with labor only and one including the toilet. Also requested quote for two leaking faucets, one in the kitchen and one in master bath. I received 3 quotes and told him that I would obtain 2 others and get back to them. The young man was very courteous and professional. Although disappointed in the inspection, I would use this company again and will consider their quotes.

I wish we could have addressed upstairs since that drain makes a banging sound much if the time. Go figure that it was quiet then. Technician was polite and helpful. They were about 30 minutes later than their 4 hour window. Replace toilet inside and it works fine but probably waste $200 worth.

We were in a bind with no hot water for almost a week and the warranty company was giving us a hard time about fixing the water heater. I called big state plumming and they came out to my home the very next morning. Now that's what you call 5 star service! We had hot water that afternoon. Their price was great. The service guy was very courteous, honest and helpful. Thank you so much!

Alex and Dave (?) were ultra-polite, punctual and efficient workers. It was a long, hot job, which took them hours to finish. When I had a question about water quality, they came back and re-flushed the purification system to my satisfaction. The office staff is also extraordinarily nice to deal with. Great job, Big State!

overpriced. 250 to install a faucet is overpriced. Job was completed satisfactorily and he cleaned up the area when done.

I bought the $49 water heater inspection and Rick promptly came out from Big State Plumbing and tuned-up my water heater and readjusted the vent pipe. He did a great job and was very knowledgeable.

The provider was on time, very professional, and gave me tips on how to avoid having to call a plumber in the future!

We called them at the end of June and needed a total re-pipe in our house. Shane came out from Big State and told us he would honor the $5,500 Big Deal on Angie's List. I did not purchase the deal through Angie's List. Shane promised he would finish the job in 3 days. Work was started on July 1st. My husband had to take off work to be here with him. We paid him $2,987.70 to get the job started. Half down and half at completion per agreement. By July 3 all that was installed was the ice maker, hot water heater, washing machine and the water was shut off in our kitchen. They scratched our wood floor, and cut holes in the wall where holes didn't need to be cut. He was supposed to be here that Saturday to finish the job. By 6:30 pm on July 4th we had a leak in the ceiling. Eric from Big STate came out on July 4th in the evening to stop the leak. The supervisor told us he would finish the work and fix everything by turning it on insurance. He told us not to worry, he would our house restored. Due to our schedules we could not get them out till 3 weeks later which was the 27th of July. Eric was here on the 5th, on the 6th he sent someone who installed the dishwasher and got us running water in the faucet which had been out for 4-5 days. Eric gave me his cell number and told me to call anytime. I called for 3 solid weeks and no one ever answered. We were trying to negotiate the damages and what was going on with insurance claim. We finally got another supervisor, Marcus, who came on the 27th and promised it would be finished by that Friday. On the 30th and 31st they gave him no helpers. My 70 year old husband worked with him for two days - 14 hours. The hot water heater they promised as part of the installation was finally installed on August 10th. I have been asking them every day about the work that would be done on the sheet work since it was bowing. They kept telling me they did not do sheet rock, they hire people to do sheet rock work. The plumbing job is still not finished and the insulation is all folded back. They have squashed vents for our air conditioner. They have dropped insulation down in the chimneys for our lights. They have moved floor boards, etc. It?s a mess! We had confirmation they would be there on the 17th to do our sheet rock. On the 17th at 8:02 am that they call and said they don't actually do sheet rock. They finally offered to do some sheet rock on a day that we were not available. We have paid them $2,987.70 and we still owe them about $2,987.70. We just want our home to be fixed. We asked to speak to the owner and they told us we could not speak to him. On Tuesday the 18th we sent an email to the owner and we still haven?t heard from him. We cannot sit here and wait for them to show up to do the work. We have to get our plumbing finished and our sheet rock done. We have extra holes that need filled in our formal dining room. There is still vertical pipe to be removed. We actually have a list of things that were negotiated with Marcus that need to be finished. It is hot on our house in places it has never been hot in because of the insulation being pulled up. Our overall grade for this experience so far is an F, but some of the workers have definitely been A rated. It's hard for us to believe they are going to do something when we have had such a poor experience.

The plumber and his helper showed up on time. They were both very pleasant and they fixed everything on my list. They cleaned out the hair and gunk in the sink and bathtub drains, which were draining very slow due to previous occupant bathing their long-haired dog and not using a hair-catching device (shame on them!). All is well with my drains now, and I love my new kitchen faucet, which they did an excellent job of installing.

Two plumbers showed up to give me an estimate for a Badger 3/4 horsepower garbage disposal. After looking at it for 2 minutes, they had to go to their truck for 10 minutes to talk it over, seemed fishy and flakey. They wanted $435 to do an hour job. When I asked them how much was parts and how much was labor and what kind. They said the same model and had no idea about the estimate which was obscene. They laughed at me while they walked away. I couldn't imagine a more unprofessional plumbing company but they got an A on Angie's List. Another guy came out to do a sewer drain clean out, but left without even pulling his machine, even though I had paid for the Angie's List Deal. Do not do business with these thiefs

I called for an estimate and they came out twice. The first time they cam by early without warning and we missed them. The second time they came out and fixed the problem without an estimate or permission. They did do a good job but I really wish they would have told me how much it was going to cost up front. 300.00 is too much for replacing an inexpensive part and doing it in under 10 minutes.

Big State installed a RO water system under the kitchen sink. Tech, Josh, came out to install new system. Josh spent a lot of time time installing. He was patient, knowledgeable and explained what he did. System works very well so far! Josh is an Iraq veteran. Applause to Big State for hiring Vets. He was very professional, puncutual, knowledgeable and polite. He cleaned up the work area before leaving. We will use them again.

The technician was not able to figure out what was wrong with the leak. They asked me what the problem could be, and I feel like it is their job to figure that out. I was told that the manager would call me and I never a received a call.

I really wanted the plumbing inspected and he suggested that I back out of the sale because of problems which I am not interested in doing and it is not that bad. The home was built in 1975 and has the usual older home problems.
