D & B Upholstery Denrick Harris

Excellent work.

Simply put, Denrick is a genius! I commissioned him to create a floor to ceiling tufted headboard constructed for my bed. I called SEVEN different upholsterers - both top rated vendors from Angie's List and referrals from interior designers / fabric stores in the area. Several of the companies could not even understand what I wanted even though I sent picture and a description to them. Of the ones who said they could do it, only two (Denrick and one other) inspired enough confidence from their conversations with me to consider them. What set Denrick apart is that he truly listened to me on the call and brainstormed with me ways that the project could be accomplished. All the other people I spoke with were fairly transactional in our conversations. I set up an appointment with Denrick and he arrived promptly at my house even though i live across town from him. He looked at my wall (9 foot tall) and my mattress (king sized pillow top) and took detailed notes and measurements to give me a final quote. During the appointment he again discussed different options for me as a consultant - not a sales person. While he was there he also gave me estimates for a chair and ottoman that I needed recovered and for pillows i wanted made. Additionally is he such a polite gentleman that I felt extremely comfortable with him in my home. Denrick came back to my house to pick up the chair and fabric that I needed for the projects. He remeasured and planned for the headboard again to make sure that he had what he needed and did a good job. On time and as promised, Denrick arrived with my chair, ottoman, pillows and my GORGEOUS HEADBOARD!!! He and another gentleman installed it onto my wall. and it looks gorgeous! His work is impeccable. To think he created this from scratch - with no frame, template of other resources- is AMAZING! This headboard is truly a show stopper when anyone sees my master suite. His attention to detail is wonderful and his craftsmanship is perfect. DON'T EVEN THINK of hiring a different upholsterer. Denrick can do anything from a standard chair reupholstery project to a custom built from scratch project.

Derrick picked up our furniture and retired it to us. The. Entire process took 4 weeks which is a little longer than he originally stated. It was well worth the wait. He did a great job.

Simply put, I cannot say enough nice things about D&B Upholstery. Bottom line: extremely nice & talented craftsman – excellent service & price. Here’s the story: I contacted D&B with a fairly sizable job. We had 5 pieces of furniture we wanted restored – a sofa, a recliner, 2 wingback chairs and an ottoman. The pieces were old and had been used for 30+ years by smokers. They were a mess! Denrick Harris, owner, gave me a ballpark quote over the phone, then came out to my home to examine the furniture and show me fabric. I wanted all the pieces to be coordinated – and they had to complement a beloved oil painting. Denrick patiently worked with me as we held swatches against the painting until we found a combination I liked. The wood on the furniture needed to be refinished, and Denrick recommended someone (Barry’s Furniture Repair & Refinish). Denrick ordered the fabric and picked up the recliner (which didn’t need wood work), while Terrance Barry picked up the other pieces. When the wood work was done, Denrick picked up the 4 other pieces of furniture directly from Terrance. While all this was going on, we moved across town – Denrick delivered all 5 pieces to our new home this week. It took less than a month for the entire project! The furniture is absolutely gorgeous. Denrick didn’t just re-upholster – he essentially rebuilt the furniture. The outer fabric is beautiful, and so is the workmanship. Denrick also completely replaced the foam and cushions (as they were rank with smoke). We have totally new (and awesome!) furniture and I feel like I’ve made a new friend. I absolutely, and without reservation, recommend D&B!!!!

I supplied my own fabric; Denrick picked up my Granny's chair, gave me an estimate/bill, and took it and repaired the seat, put a new pad, and covered it in my fabric. It looks fabulous! He delivered it in a very timely fashion and performed the work for a very reasonable amount. I will use him again!

First, D&B is not a big company with a fancy storefront and cheery yet aggressive sales people. He's just a guy, and he's working mostly with his son. When I called him, Denrick is not a fancy-talking, marketing type. Quiet, slow, and matter of fact. To be honest, if it hadn't been for Angie's List I might have walked on the basis of the phone call, because I'm so used to sales people. But. There were pictures of his work online and nothing but rave reviews. So we invited Denrick to come by and look at our aging sectional sofa. It was not all that great a sofa to begin with, but it was just the right size for our house and was hugely comfortable. So, we hoped to fix it up instead of buying a new one. Denrick came by late in the afternoon, so both my wife and I could be there. He brought a big book of fabric for us to choose. Our first choice was a very heavy fabric that looked like it would wear forever. Denrick shook his head. That stuff is for airport lounges and hotel lobbies, and it's scratchy and stiff, he told us. So we picked a nice neutral color in a fabric much better than what we had, but not quite so stiff and scratchy. Then Denrick told us he could pick up the sofa right away, but that he had another week or two of work before he could get to us. We decided to have him come back when he was ready to work on it. We paid a check for the fabric, and off he want. Two weeks later Denrick called and came out in the evening with his son to pick up our sofa. He brought the fabric we'd ordered so we could take a look at it. Looked great and off he went. About a week or a week and a half later, he called on Saturday around 4:30p and told us it was done. If we could be home, he'd bring it by around 6:30p. Great, we said. So, last night he and his son brought it home. Fabulous. It's substantially better than it was when it was new. The fabric is better quality. He fixed the broken back rail, he put plywood on all the backs so it is much stronger. The pillows are all fluffed out with new stuffing. It has a more sophisticated tailored look than it did before. We are hugely pleased. What I liked about dealing with D&B: no surprises. Denrick came at times convenient to us. he helped us not make a stupid fabric choice, he was fast. it's not a "mill". The guy you talk to is the guy that's going to work on your sofa. our sofa is better now than it was when it was new. We would do it again in a heartbeat.

Mr. Harris arrived on time, gave me his quote for the work, which was extremely reasonable, and said the pieces would be ready in three weeks. As promised, the pieces were delivered at that time and, frankly, I was blown away at what an extrordinary job he did. His workmanship is top notch and the next time I have a piece of furniture that needs to be reupholstered, I would never consider anyone else.

Denrick is very professional as well as friendly and his work is top notch. He had the chairs finished by the time I needed it and even through in 2 sofa pillows at no charge. He is a pleasure to do business with.

Denrick did a fantastic job on reupholstering our large sectional couch. We loved the couch and did not want to buy a new one. It is now as good as new and at a much better price than buying a new sectional. We will use him soon as we are getting ready to have two more couches done.

Excellent. You can't beat the price, professionalism and speed. Workmanship is very, very good and sometimes that is all you need for an old sofa.

I called Denrick and he came out immediately and gave me an estimate. I chose some fabric from a sample book and he took the couch and promised it within a few weeks (I was in no hurry to get it back, and he was going out of town for the Christmas holidays). He also told me that because of the worn condition of the pad that it should be replaced, along with some other parts, as the couch had been sitting in storage for decades and was in terrible shape. When he brought the couch back, it looked gorgeous, and it was much more comfortable with its new pad. It looked new. He really restored it to its former glory!

The work was completed on time (or even sooner). Everything was delivered to our house. The quality is supreme. Denrick Harris is very professional and polite. The price was reasonable, considering amount of the work that was done. The price included new material used.

I had a great experience getting my chairs seats recovered and rewebbed. Denrick was fantastic, he helped me pick out fabric from his samples of high quality material. The chair seats were ready on the date given. He was very reasonably priced and so professional with his workmanship. I would definitely go to D&B with my next upholstery needs and I will recommend him to my friends and family.

Excellent service, workmanship and professional dealings. Arrived promptly for appointment. Very polite and professional demeanor. The proprietor is originally from Grenada and said he learned the craft there. I'd say he had a first-rate, 'old school' teacher.

Overall, great service. He first came out to the house several days before to see what kind of work would need to be done. Very pleasant man. Very professional. I think the job was more involved-both time wise and work wise-than he had anticipated. My experience in the past is that some some contractors have raised their prices from the original estimate, but he did not. Very thorough job.

This guy will show up when he says he will, complete the work when he says he will, call you with questions, return your calls...I can't say enough about how reliable he is. Also he does beautiful work. My chairs had part fabric and part leather with a lot of detail (conchos, decorative nails etc.). He did a beautiful job. He is an artist. You provide the materials (fabric etc.). I gave him the materials and a picture and he gave me better than what I expected.

Everything so far has been excellent. His price is very good, I did check around at other places. He came exactly when he said he would. He keeps me posted on his progress. He gives me feedback if something isn't going right. He makes recommendations.

Mr. Harris kept me appraised of progress. This job's timing was complicated by Hurricane Ike, but the results were worth waiting for. These chairs have sentimental meaning: channel back chairs were my grandmother's and overstuffed chair my father's. Mr. Harris treated them with respect. I would happily recommend him to others.

I emailed pictures of my love seat and rocking chair and Denrick gave me quotes over the phone. He was then very patient while I waited for my fabric and then some family emergencies but finally I was ready and he picked up both pieces. He even returned them to my storage space (still remodeling and need carpet) and helped me get them upstairs and in the room. The work looked beautiful and very professional. My sister-in-law who is the expert in this thing said his prices were very competitive and also thought the pieces looked great.

This family heirloom chair has been in storage for over 30 years. The frame was in good shape but needed refinishing, all the fabric and foam had to be replaced. D&B Upholstery is across Houston from us. The owner, Denrick Harris, made arrangements with Barry's Furniture and Refinish, to do the refinishing (an additional but very reasonable cost). We dropped off the chair, picked out material and finish, then went on our way. Two weeks later the chair was ready. Denrick had arranged for transportation of the chair between the two companies so we had only one drop off and pick up place to deal with. The chair is beautiful. The fabrics and finish the two companies helped us to select complement each other well. We could not be more pleased with the work or the two companies and their representatives.

His work was wonderful. He picked up and delivered the chairs. He came by to look at the chairs first, gave me a careful estimate and told me how much fabric I would need for each. He even made sure I knew that large repeating patterns would take more fabric. He also suggested a number of places where I might look for fabrics at reasonable prices. He was most accommodating when arranging for pick up and delivery etc. I would recommend him without reservation.

I was very impressed by the craftsmanship and professionalism of Denrick. He picked up and returned my couch when he said he would. He also answered any questions and concerns I had about this project. I would certainly call on him again when the need arises.

Denrick Harris did a really good job with re-cushioning my couch. To be honest, my couch didn't really need it, but I ran into some softer stuffing that I wanted in my couch, so they did it. They did it just the way that I wanted it to be done. They did a great job. I can't see one seam and I was real comfortable with that. They completed the job in a reasonable amount of time.
