The contractor was supposed to come out on tuesday the 29th. I got a phone call at 8:30 that morning from one of the owners saying he had a question. I didn't get the message for a couple of hours and called Tommy back as soon as I did. I left a message assuming it must not have been much of a problem and that the crew would be out later in the day. They never showed up. I called Tommy 2 more times that day with no answer or return call. I called Tommy again the next morning hoping they would be out to do the work soon and again no response. The crew showed up on Thursday unannounced and I went ahead and let them get started. They did the work pretty quickly and then left without a word (like, let's walk around and make sure we are done or can i get paid?). At this point, I figured they would send me an invoice in the mail or email and I would mail them a check once I was satisfied the work was completed. The very next morning (Friday) I got a couple of phone calls from Kayla the other owner wanting payment, I asked her to send me an invoice via email. She sent it right away, I also told her I hadn't looked at the work yet that I was very busy and I would let her know if anything was not finished. She seemed perplexed that I would want to make sure it was done and she was very concerned with getting paid. Later in the day I received 3 more phone calls from the other owner wanting payment. I talked to Tommy that evening and looked at the work with him on the phone because he was insistent on sending someone out to collect payment. I told him I would not pay until I was satisfied and he wanted to know what wasn't finished so we discussed in low light while on the phone so he could know what the crew needed to finish the job. He said it would be taken care of. He called again later to let me know his crew would be out between 7 and 7:30 to finish and get paid. I thought that was fine because had a company breakfast meeting to conduct 30 minutes away at 9 AM. I called Tommy at 8 AM when his guys were nowhere to be seen and let Tommy know I had to leave at 8:30 and i was not leaving a check until the work was done. I got a quick call back and he began telling me to leave a check under the mat and I explained that wasn't happening until the work was done. It wasn't much but I knew I would never see these people again once they were paid. He began to argue with me and I told him that was how it was going to be. His Guy showed up at 8:35 as i was literally walking out the door to leave for my meeting. The guy began arguing with me about me leaving a check so at that point I knew this was going to be an ongoing soap opera if I didn't just allow myself to be late to my own meeting and wait for the guy to finish. He finished (sort of) He would not re mount the light that had been on the fascia properly ,he mounted the entire fixture to the edge of the gutter. He did a cheesy tie in that looks lousy but is probably functional to drains that carry the water through our retaining wall. And I wrote the check to end the episode and get these jokers out of my life. While the guy was "finishing" I called Kayla because that is who I was told to make the check to (not the Natusch Group). I explained my unhappiness and also that I was going to review her company on Angie's List and Yahoo etc. and she didn't seem all that concerned. She made no attempt to do anything to rectify the problem and even said "there's probably nothing I can do to make you feel better". Well you never know until you try.
Description of Work: I was having some gutters put up on our house where there had never been gutters before. Additionally this company was coming out to finish the work another company didn't finish when I had the roof replaced over a year ago. Basically installing a downspout and doing two tie-ins to drains that take the water under our retaining wall.
