We recently bought a new house. We had 2 AC companies out that informed us that we had a leak in our system and needed to have our coil replaced. Jeremy verbally told me that the coil needed to be replaced, but did not put this on the written report. He noted that there was a leak in the system, and that the coil and the air filter were dirty. We received a call from our home warranty company stating that they had been contacted by Jennifer from Speedy Electric and told that the coil and the filter were dirty. Therefore, they were going to deny the claim. I called Jeremy (the next day), and asked why he had told us that the coil needed to be replaced, and Jennifer said that it needed to be cleaned. He told us "he couldn't remember." I called Jennifer and she made it very plain to me that I was not her customer; the home warranty company was their customer, and they would fix things as economically as possible (to benefit the home warranty company). The home warranty company sent a 2nd opinion out, and they confirmed that there was a leak in the coil, and that it needed to be replaced. Do not use this company if your home warranty company wants to use them--ask for another company that will be YOUR customer; not the home warranty's.

Yes, when we are called to a home for a home warranty company we are working for the home warranty company. They are the ones that are paying for our service & professional, honest, opinion regarding the HVAC or Electrical system we are working on. Your policy with the home warranty company was less that 60 days old & the 2 companies out before us were not with the home warranty company. We have to give an accurate report to the home warranty company as to the maintenance of the system & most cost efficient solution for repair. It is up to the home warranty company, not the technician, to decide the repair or replacement route they choose. The A/C technicians run 8-12 calls a day in the summer & most times are not home until after dark, so I apologize if Jeremy did not remember your exact system, that is why they fill out tickets on each job-site. I know it can be frustrating when your A/C is broke, especially if you are at the mercy of the home warranty company approving repairs. The technicians do work hard to help every customer & at the same time we do have to follow the rules set in place by home warranty companies.

The service was good. My only complaint is that there were 2 guys, which I did not ask for. One of the service guy was "in training" and the other supervised him. SO I only got 1 hour worth's of service instead of 2 for $111.00 as was stated in the coupon. The company should not send out 2 guys if not asked by the customer. I was happy that they did more than I asked, the guys were nice and helped me with all the details.

I bought a Big Deal for an inspection of the A/C and furnace, performed by Nate. We had been having a problem with the air conditioner throwing the breaker and he did a couple of things that seemed to fix it. I soon realized that the problem was still there and called them back out. The second guy that came out checked the system, gave me my options, and installed a hard start kit that, so far, has been doing the trick. He was professional but boy, was he serious. In the end it's not his job to smile, though. Overall I had a good experience and would do business with this company again.

The two individuals that came to my home were prompt, professional and very thorough. They performed the inspection and explained their findings, in addition to what my options would be. They provided their opinion when questions were asked. They provided a quote on the work that they recommended in a timely manner. I am considering contacting them to have the work done. The quote that they provided did not confirm if they would install the same Trane unit so I need to follow up with them to see what their quote was based on and if it would be a comparable high-end system.

The repairs were done to an investment property that had sold. The inspection report named about 17 items that needed repair prior to close. I called Speedy Electric & AC, spoke to them about the scope of the job, emailed them the list of repairs needed and they handled everything without direct supervision. They rewired and labeled the breaker box; installed various GFCI outlets; fixed other outlets; either replaced or balanced four ceiling fans; straightened and secured the electrical riser; supplied and installed three smoke detectors; secured hub to meterbase; supplied an AC disconnect where there wasn't one; mounted two outlets; checked the HVAC system; installed a new 20 x 25 filter rack with door; replaced 3' suction line insulation from house to condenser; checked ductwork for proper heating and cooling. They did all this work efficiently, on time, at good prices, and without anyone being there to supervise them. The home inspector had suggested on his report that the breaker box needed rewiring or replacement. The Speedy electricians were honest and advised there was nothing wrong with the box that some rewiring wouldn't fix. They could have told me the box needed replacement and I wouldn't have known better. I applaud them for their honesty.

I had called ahead before buying the deal to determine if what I needed done could be done and was told that I should buy the deal and find more things for the technicians to do because the outlets wouldn't take that long. I then went out and bought switches and lights for two other rooms. It turns out it took longer than even the time I bought for the deal for the workers to just install the two outlets. I was also charged a different price for the time over the allotted time than that quoted to me. I've also noted that the lights flicker when I use power tools in one of the outlets sometimes.

Speedy Electric was contacted to check the extent of the damage and repair if reasonable. They had to reschedule once due to rains, but a not-too-happy electrician who was quite busy talking on his phone to even say hello, did show up. He held his conversation for a few seconds to indicate that he was from Speedy and I lead him to the pool equipment. He took one look at it, finished his conversation, oh'd and hmm'd a few times and started snipping wires and was done in 10 minutes with a charge of $75. I was thrilled. He indicated that the pool company guys were morons and had caused the blowout. He said that the wiring was all fine and nothing was out of code. I was initially unhappy with his mannerisms, but found him to be a very honest and efficient guy. I changed my opinion of him to more of a bored genius in his field. He could have (unnecessarily) replaced the whole system billing me lots, but he was very honest in his work and resolution and saved me lots of money. In hindsight, I would rather deal with a guy like this (never did find out his name) than the smiling, smooth talking idiots who have no clue what they are doing. I got to see both types of people for the same issue.
Description of Work: Improper electrical work done by the pool company (Carefree Pools in Dallas) while replacing a pool timer switch resulted in a burnout of the wires and an electrical surge that ground out the booster pump. The pool company washed their hands off their shoddy work and indicated a professional electrician was necessary as the current wiring was not up to city code, and that the work involved would be very detailed and had indicated may cost up to $800. They later called and indicated that they had suddenly come up with a master electrician in their ranks and could do the work themselves, which was laughable.

Once the guy arrived, however, he immediately started telling me that there was nothing he could do for $200 and that I just needed to replace the whole box for $1,200. When I said I couldn't afford that right now and to just do whatever was outlined in the ad, he said there was nothing he could do and that his boss had made a mistake putting that offer on AL. He then tried again to upsell me on the $1,200 box. If there was really nothing they could do, then they need to put that in the ad. They need to say, we will only replace fuses on very new boxes and the rest of you are out of luck. This was an obvious bait and switch and I expect better from Angie's List companies. As if that wasn't bad enough, they still have not returned my $200 and its been more than a month. A completely unacceptable experience.

We will make a note in your file to give you a free electrical service call anytime you are ready for us to do so. We are sorry that you were unhappy with the code violations & cost of repairs the technician found at your home. Federal Pacific panels are not only not up to current code, but they lost there UL listing due to safety issues, and yours not having a dead front on it makes it even more of a liability. We do stand behind the findings & recommend you upgrade the panel for safety reasons. The coupon was also to replace any common stock breakers as needed, unfortunately, Federal Pacific breakers are not only not common stock, they are a discontinued brand. Feel free to call us if you have any questions of if you would like to have the owner give you a free second opinion.

Overall, it went very well. We also had a power sure problem where the lights were flickering in the house. Brian noticed that the electric wire from the utility pole was freyed. We called Oncore and they came out the next day to repair wire....problem solved.

We had to upgrade to a larger box because we're putting in a pool and needed the extra connections....saved $500 because of the big deal. The electrician was running late, due to an earlier appointment that required more time than originally planned, but the company did call and advise me of the situation, and they called again when the electrician was on his way. Once he got there, it only took him a few minutes to replace the two heaters, and he was very professional and answered all my questions while he worked. When he was through, he asked me if there was any other electrical work I needed done, and he was nice enough to replace the florescent lights in my garage. I was impressed with his professionalism and concern, and would definitely refer Speedy Electric Company to my friends and neighbors.

After calling to confirm that it worked with our schedules, he arrived earlier than the original appointment, which was good for us. They worked with our needs for a Saturday appointment, did the repairs and installation quickly, and were gone within an hour. Fair price and quality service. ***This is an updated response: The company offered to come out and redo the work, to which I declined because I didn't want to deal with them anymore. Eventually, I realized that I would like to have them come out and redo the disaster that the previous representative had accomplished. After settling on a time and getting the company back out to my house, I was really impressed. Truly. Again, I was called ahead of time to announce their arrival (I was asleep as I work nights). The owner of the company came out and did the work, as well as an assistant. They worked very quickly and did a stellar job in correcting what was wrong and even pointed out some new things about my electrical connections that I didn't know! This go around, I was highly impressed. The professionalism that they both displayed was extremely heart-warming! I felt that a major injustice had been righted completely. I thank Speedy Electric for the service that they provided and I would definitely call them again! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It went so horribly wrong for the money I paid that all of the suggestions he gave me, I just did them myself rather than call them back. For $200 (an Angie's List coupon for services that are regularly $400) I only got a half-correct rewritten circuit schematic (half-correct because he (Skip, was his name) ) did the first column correctly - by the assigned alpha numeric numbers to the circuit, but the other column he labeled by the circuit's amps - 15, 20, 15, 15 , 30, etc rather than their assigned alpha numeric number, AND there was nothing different than the old one that was on there). I had to add the correct numbers in after he left and I went back to inspect his work. He unscrewed the circuit box's back and cleaned out some wasps nests that were no longer in use and he asked me for some cleaning wipes so he could wipe something down. He then had me assist him in labeling the circuits by running all over the inside of my house chasing lights that were on or off. If I had something very important to do, I would not have been able to do it because I was chasing lights! That wasn't so bad, but the kicker...is having Skip explain what he had accomplished while we were standing outside, and he had a mouth full of chewing tobacco which he was spitting out on my lawn while he was talking with me. Eww. He may as well have been the Talking Tide Stain at that point as whatever he said went in one ear and out of the other as I was just amazed at what was transpiring in front of me. After we went inside to finalize some paperwork, I mentioned some other work that I needed done, and he offered to do it for me for a price. I just agreed to call later but ended up doing all of the work myself...no chewing tobacco included. I got no new fuses, but was told that if I needed any to give them a call back. My circuit box was deemed to be up to code. Duh. I knew that.
Description of Work: Tested circuits to make sure they were accurately labeled on the new schematic plan he had just written up, cleaned out some old wasps nests, and also told me that he moved some wires around - for some reason or another that was never explained. He did point out a problem with my electrical mast not being properly anchored to my house any more.

After reading reviews decided to call Speedy Electric to install ceiling fan on our patio cover. Speedy Electric is the 3rd contractor I have used on our new patio project. The other 2 were smiply outstanding I had got them also from Angie's list. Speedy Electric turned out to be a Dr Jeykl and Hyde experience. Called on the weekend and asked if they serviced Ferris. Operator said would find out and called back saying yes. They were very flexible for a service date. Then it went downhill from there. The technicians Aaron and Austin showed up on time. My wife stated they were very nice and cordial. I asked if they had finished installing the fan and my wife said no they told here they would be back tommorow on Saturday. I had received a call from Speedy Elec saying they couldn't do the work untill wednsday at the earliest. My wife had taken half a day off to get this done. Christy had stated that if we approved the estimate they could do the work immediately. I told my wife if it was 200 or less go ahead and do it so we didn't have to take anymore time off work. They quoted 150 my wife said fine. Speedy had a special for 99 dollars for 2 hours coupon my wife asked if angies list memebers could get that price Aaron said yes but labor and parts would be 150 dollars. I explained to Crystal of Speedy electric I was told they would do the work in the morning she said the price quoted was mon-fri and it was extra for sat. I told her that they were out on a weekday and didn't perform work promised. She said she wasn't going to argue with me and hung up on me. I then received a call from Jennifer I think she said she was a co-ower and said she wanted to clear the air. I told her what Aaron said that he would be out in the morning and she asked Austin if he heard Aaron say this and I heard him say yes and Jennifer stated he said yes. Jennifer said she would talk with his manager Brian and get back with me. Jennifer called me back and said no way they could do it this saturday. I explained my wife had wasted a half days pay to do this and she put Brian on the phone, Brian said my wife had refused the estimate which is a bald face lie. We had already spent 3600 on the patio what difference is 150 which Brian said was 175. He basically called my wife a liar. I said I would get someone else and write a review on my experience. Brian said go ahead we will dispute it. So here it is. I'll let you decide if this is a company you want to do bussiness with. The worst part they nevered apologized. I would never recommend this company to anyone. I would like to address 2 lies from response of provider. 1 I never used profanity towards anyone. 2nd We never claimed to have coupon we simply asked if we could get that price. This response shows a total lack of integrity by this company. Really sad.

[member name removed], I do not believe that you review is a fair assessment of our company or our service. There was a breakdown of communication on both sides that led to your aggravation with the scheduling of the ceiling fan installation. First you called in to get an estimate to install a ceiling fan, you would provide the fan & we would provide the wire, pipe, & materials. Our technicians got to your home, where your wife was the only one home, and gave her an estimate of $150-$175 to do the job. She then told them she had a coupon for $99 for 2 hours of labor, which she did not. Our technicians do not have access to our Angie's List portal to check what customers have or have not actually purchased coupons, so they took her word for it. The coupon she referenced is for Labor Only & the homeowner supplies all the materials. They asked if she had all the materials & she said she did not. They ten told her we would have to reschedule for another day so she could get the rest of the materials to do the job. She said that was ok & asked if we could work on weekends so she would not have to take off work again. They told her we could schedule for a Saturday . This is where we get to the breakdown of communication on both sides. The technicians may have said that we could have done the job the next day, however, they do not set the schedule & did not know we were already booked for that day. Yes, they should have checked with the office before making that statement. However, the job could have been done the same day if your wife had not confused them by saying she had a coupon that she did not have. When they got back to the office, Kristal checked Angie;s List to find that you did not have the coupon your wife claimed to have. She called you to clear up the confusion & offer you any other day or weekend to schedule the work. You got angry because you thought the technicians lied to you & insisted we do the work the next day (Saturday) even though we were already booked for that day. According to Kristal you were using profanity towards her & that is why she ended the conversation. I, Jennifer, then tried to call you to smooth things over. We were not refusing to do the job for the price quoted, or refuse to do it on a weekend, we were just not able to do it the next day. You said that was not good enough & you would call another company. I then put Brian on the phone, as he is not only the other owner, but the one that was doing the Saturday calls. You again were refusing to consider any other day but the next day & said you were just going to give us a bad review. I feel like we did everything we could short of cancelling other customers that were scheduled weeks in advance to accommodate you. I am sorry we were not able to completely satisfy you & hope the other Positive Angie's List Reviews will over ride the bad review you gave us on our scheduling. Thank You, Jennifer
