They're workers were very cordial, they knew what they were talking about and it didn't take them long, they were early which is excellent because sometimes people are late and they called and said "We know we're early but can we be there?" and I said, "Sure." I would give them the highest rating possible and I would use them again. I spent more than the big deal amount. I had replaced one of the condensers in the unit and they charged $180.

They sent two electricians who did a great job, quickly and efficiently. I would definitely use them again, although their shop is located south of Dallas in Midlothian, and I live north of Dallas in McKinney on the Collin/Grayson County border.
Description of Work: Installed a ceiling fan in one room, and replaced a can light with a three pendant fixture over my kitchen sink/eat at bar island. The latter required replacing and moving the electrical box in the ceiling (hence the additional $95.00 charge over the original Angie's List deal).

I set up the appointment with Speedy Electric for 7-10-2013 for a window of time between from 1:00 to 5:00. This was one of Angie's Big Deal's: $99.00 for 2 hours of electrical labor. Their office called to say they were on their way from Sachse. Brian and Austin arrived at 3:15. They worked so fast that they completed everything by 4:00 p.m.
Description of Work: Installed dimmer switch for kitchen. Repaired light switch in vent-a-hood. Installed (2) 3-way switches and (1) single pole switch and plug-in in jack-and-jill bathroom. Repaired junction on low voltage wire on deck. Replaced ceiling light bulb.

Two electricians showed up and did the work I needed to have done. One did not have the experience of the other and wasn't as efficient as the first. Also, the fan globe was cracked but I'm not sure the electrician did that but I was able to get that repaired through Costco which sold me the fan. All in all I was pleased with the amount of work done and the quality of the work.

Window of 2-8 pm for repairman 1. Several calls from us to them between 4-8 asking when to expect repairman - always told he is on his way 2. Several calls to them between 8 and 9:45 to be told again he is on his way 3. Repairman finally arrives at 10:15 pm - was here maybe 5 minutes and never turned on AC, yet diagnosed as needing a compressor 4. Our technicians were running late on their calls on Friday due to the over 100° temperatures. Your appointment was one of the last calls of the day & every time you called the office to check on the service status (over 8 times, plus emails) you were told the technicians were running late but would be at your home that evening. We explained that the technicians were working as fast as they could in the extreme heat to take care of all our customers. When the technician finished his call before yours at 9:45 pm, he headed to your home without complaining, even though he had worked almost 70 hrs that week & was scheduled to be on call the following Saturday. All the other HVAC technicians were also still working at that time. He arrived to find that you had a unit with a bad compressor. You cannot turn on a unit with a bad compressor & it only takes a few minutes to check the compressor leads to find out it is shorted. The technician explained that we would have to call the manufacturer when they opened to get the replacement part information & contact your home warranty company for approval to do the repair. There was no problem with completing the service of your unit at that point. It was not until we received your email at 12:45 am that we decided to have your work order sent to another vendor. Below is offensive email you sent to our company: Date: July 13, 2013, 12:45:15 AM CDT To: speedy_electric@yahoo.com Subject: Incompetence is alive and well... 7/13/13 Thank you for affirming what I often told my students: incompetence is alive and well among the uneducated in our country. We experienced incompetence firsthand when a service tech did not appear at our home until 10:15 pm, and then diagnosed the AC problem without ever turning on the unit, and diagnosed in about 5 minutes. Wow...you sent us the best of the best of incompetence! Oh, and you asked my husband if he ever worked in the heat. Why yes he did! He worked his way through college at his father's service station. My husband aspired to be well educated and have a career that allowed him to work in an air conditioned office and dress in something besides a uniform with his name on his shirt! We "so appreciate" your lack of service and look forward to filing a complaint with the BBB, as well as filing a complaint with AHS for aligning us with incompetence! **Mrs. Homeowner** Retired teacher We were highly offended by your lack of respect to not only our technicians, but to service companies in general. We called your home warranty company the next morning & asked that they find another company to service your home & cancel our call completely. After your warranty company read the email you sent us that I forwarded to them they agreed to send you another company. We did not give the warranty company any diagnosis for your system & are not billing them for any time or gas we spent going to your home. I will not send my technicians to service someone who has a complete lack of respect for other people as to insinuate that we are only doing the job that we do because we are uneducated. There are plenty of homeowners that appreciate the service we provide & show my technicians the respect they deserve. Brian came out and was very professional. He quickly replaced two lights with new can lights and moved another. He checked on two other lights that needs a new housing so that will come later. Gave me some advice on how to better handle new lights in the future. While there, they let me know my attic fan had quit working. Gave me a price on fixing that along with some future things we want to do. I definitely will use them again. Calling them now to set up an appointment to fix the attic fan. 4/25/14 Update -- Jason & Junior came out and installed the four lights. We talked about several more projects. They were professional and pleasant to work with. They were quick, efficient, cleaned up after themselves. I would give these two an A+++ if you had it. Am scheduling some more work. I think we found our forever electric repair company.

Brian and Austin introduced themselves when they came to the door. Actually showed up 30 minutes early and were finished in about an hour. They were both friendly but very professional and got right to work. They cleaned up everything when they had completed the work and made sure they moved a chair back that they needed to move out of the way. Answered any questions I had and gave me an estimate to replace some light switches at a future date. They did a good job and I felt very comfortable with them in my home. I will definitely use Speedy Electric & A/C again in the future and would recommend them to others.
Description of Work: Replaced two outdoor light fixtures. One on the front porch and one on the back porch. Took down an old light fixture on the ceiling fan in the living room and replaced it with a new light fixture for the ceiling fan.

They came out as scheduled. I walked them through what needed to be done in the time frame we had. I needed the exhaust fan connected to power in the attic from when I had the roof replaced and added the fan. With the house being 85 years old, there was no shortage of wiring in the attic. The key was to find continuous power to connect to. In the living room both the original chandelier and the fireplace sconces were connected to one on and off switch. I wanted them separated and both on dimmers. Without running additional wiring, since the walls and ceiling are plaster, they were able to separate the wiring to each one and install a duo dimmer. Both work great. They did all this in just over an hour. I will definitely call them again when electrical work needs done and I will refer them when ever I can.

I called Speedy's and explained that my tree was struck by lightning and that it traveled under ground causing my lamp post light on top of the pole burst and shatter. It then followed the electrical line to my house where it burnt out the electrical plugs. Luckily it threw the breaker and did not burn out all my wiring. The owner of Speedy's came on the day he was schedule and was very prompt. Brian, the owner, talked to me about the damage and explained how I could save money by purchasing another pole and light kit and he would replace everything else and install the new lamp fixture for me. Due to rain we had to postpone the original day but he came out himself with another worker and dug the ditch to bury the new wires. Everything looked great after the repairs were made. He even installed a switch for the light post so I can turn it off when I do not want the light sensory to do it for me. Brian was very apologetic for having to delay because of the rain, but I was glad to do so because of the mud it would have created and damage to the yard. Smart man. I would definitely use them again and tell my friends about his service.

It was okay. We had a couple of follow-up issues that we addressed. If I were going to give it stars I would give it 2.5 to 3 out of 5 perhaps, simply because it, as they explained to me, one hour for two electricians or one electrician for two hours. So, I had my projects lined up and some of those couldn't be done on the initial visit. So I got, maybe, about 1.25 hours out of it because, to do the full 2 hours, I needed to have some things that could be done that day. Obviously, I didn't. Now, I was told that the follow up estimates would reflect a discount, based on not being able to use the full two hours. Now, that's debatable and things went different ways with the follow up visit and things like that, so it wasn't great. They did pretty competent work, but I didn't think it was great. I got it immediately because I needed it for a house I was trying to sell. I got it soon after I purchased it, within a week to ten days at the most. I went above the $99 for the next appointment, at approximately $200.
Description of Work: I had a Big Deal from Speedy Electric & AC for $99. They put in some GFI outlets, put in an extra wall light switch, and changed a few other outlets as well.

A nice and competent electrician showed up, but the two hour coupon turned out to be 2 man hours (one electrician and one helper-who was not so helpful). Electrician started multiple projects, didn't have the parts to finish (and spent far to much time talking about it) and said he would come back. The company never called back to schedule and when I got a hold of them (after multiple calls) they informed my that the electrician had quit and that he hadn't charged me appropriately or reported the service. They implied they would do me a favor by not retroactively charging me extra, but had no one to finish the project at this time. The discussion quickly deteriorated from there. I will not do business with this company again...not focused on customer service at all!

We do at times send 2 electricians to job-site together as it makes the job go faster if there is a second person to help pull wire when adding circuits. Also, the electrician that was at you home did not charge you for the wire he had to supply to add you light, as he should have. We are sorry for the mis-communication about additional charges, the coupon not only covers just 2 hours of labor (or 2 guys for one hour) but also only covers one trip to the home. All of this information was printed on the coupon that you received from Angie's List. The owner did call you to offer to finished the job at a discounted rate, however, you would not allow us to explain the situation or finish the job.
