Called them to schedule. This was a little confusing, as Angie's list has a scheduling app built in that didn't seem to do anything. Once I called Speedy, a polite woman answered the phone and scheduled my appointment. Unfortunately the first appointment was rained out (roof unit), so we rescheduled. Second appointment was a 10am to 2pm window, and at 1:45pm I hadn't heard anything, so I called Speedy. Apparently a few of their electricians/AC guys were hurt/sick. Anyways, Matt came out a few hours later and took care of my system. He went above and beyond, and I appreciated his thoroughness. AC is running nice and cool. Thumbs up.

If you go by the ranking system where a C is fair or average, then the above ratings are accurate. The price was excellent, the work was good. I scheduled on a Tuesday because I wanted the work done fairly soon. They had a time slot in the morning so I moved some stuff at work around to be there. They called me that morning about an hour before the window of expected arrival was. They said the guy I was scheduled for called in sick. So they asked if I wanted to reschedule or be the last stop on another guys schedule. I just had them add me to the other guys schedule and took the whole day off work. They gave me a window of like 2p - 6p that the guy would be there. So I was tethered to being around the house. He got there around 7p, an hour after the latest window closed. I could have just gone to work. They didn't know that guy was going to be sick and stuff comes up so, that's why I gave them a C on punctuality. The guy did the job though, and he did it fast. No complaints with the work. The time thing is almost expected no a days though. All together I would use them again. I would assume that the majority of the time they are spot on.

They are not professional they didn't figure the way to do the wire connection to the vent fan. They told me this fan doesn't work with my house wiring after making big hole in the ceiling and fixing the fan rather then checking before installing it. These electricians doesn't even have the basic knowledge. I talked to the owner, he said he will come by and fix the fan but he sent another person, which has the same expertise as the previous person and he couldn't install the fan after spending 2 hours. They told my wife that they won't leave the house until we pay money for that 2 hours. She was worried and paid the money for nothing. They are not professionals at all, they took batteries from one of our thermostat without telling us, we noticed that in the middle of the night, luckily we had some spare batteries. After all the hassle, I fixed the same vent fan without changing any wiring with some online instructions. I never recommend this company.
Description of Work: Nothing!!!. I called them for installing the ventilation fans. They couldn't find the way to do wiring for the vent fan even with the clear instructions manual.

Unfortunately, there were several issues that lead to the negative outcome of this service call. First, there were issues with the space in the ceiling for the larger vent fan. There were plumbing lines that were too close to the sheet rock to allow the fan to fit. Our electrician had no way of knowing about the type of plumbing is on the other side of the sheet rock. The other issue is that the switches provided for the fans purchased were not the correct switches. Every effort was made to rectify the situation, and more than double the billed man hours were spent on this job. Unfortunately, we were unable to reach a mutually satisfactory conclusion. In addressing the issue of the batteries in your thermostat, our electricians were not servicing your AC unit or your thermostat. We have honest, hardworking electricians, whose character is above reproach, and would not do something such as that. They called ahead, showed up right when they said they would, and the Jerry the electrician knew exactly what to do, had the part on his truck, and was in and out in no time. Contractor did not have the appropriate parts, even though, the person scheduling the appointment stated they would have it. Neither issue was resolved while the contractor was at my property. For my repairs it was not worth the money spent. I still have the same issues and am out $99. You might have better luck with your repairs.

When they arrived, the 2 person crew started looking in the attic in order to determine what would need to be done and informed us they would have to add a new electric connection directly at our electrical box. However they would need to go and buy all of the wiring and other supplies such as breaker and conduit. However all of that time to get the supplies would be billable time too. However I was asked if I had the supplies and had previously told them no, so I felt like they came unprepared to do the work, especially since I was clear in advance about what I was requesting. We were given an estimate of the cost for the products and installation and decided that the quoted costs were too high and told them not to bother with purchasing the supplies after all. We would look at other options instead and sent them on their way. Based on what we were told, the cost was going to be 800.00 or more just to add a 220 volt connection to the hot tub. We had this done at our previous home for much less than that.
Description of Work: I purchased the special which included 2 labor hours for 99.00. Two persons showed up promptly at my home. Prior to the appt, I talked to someone at Speedy Electric to let them know I wanted my hot tub electrical hook up completed. We had recently moved to another house and had moved the hot tub. I was asked if I would be supplying any supplies to which I replied "No." I understood there would be additional charges.

This only serves to show us where we can improve. I would like the opportunity to address the issues that you mentioned in your review. There are many unknown factors when preparing to wire a hot tub that will not be known without our electricians visually inspecting the location and the equipment. -Location of tub in relation to the electrical panel. (This determines what length of wiring is necessary as well as conduit and other supplies. We also need to decide if the electrical will need to run to the attic, around the house, under the house, etc. In this case, the hot tub was located 80ft away from the home.) -Brand of panel and type of breaker -How many amps the hot tub pulls (This determines what type of breaker and wire is needed) After inspection of the property, the technician Austin noted that the sub panel was not strong enough to handle the 2 pole 50 amp circuit that the hot tub called for. We are required to install the equipment with safety and state code requirements in mind. Electrical hazards and damage to the hot tub could arise if not adequately wired. We offered to apply the $100 paid to Angie's List to to total quoted cost of installation. Unfortunately, our quote was not accepted. In regards to the installation at a previous location for a lower rate, we are unaware of the above elements, therefore cannot compare pricing provided from the previous electrician. When I made the appointment, the woman who answered the phone conferenced an electrician on the call so I could ask what parts I'd need to get for him to replace the fluorescent lights with LED lights in my 2 coves near the ceiling in the living room. He said I should get the bulbs and ask the hardware store for what parts were necessary. Neither Lowe's or Home Depot could tell me what parts to buy though I had looked online and found what I thought were the name of the parts necessary. Left a message and then called to again be conferenced with the electrician, Mike, to ask him to stop and pick up the parts on his way to my house. He called to say he'd talked with the company (Philips) and was told to go online to find the parts necessary. He told me to go online myself to find what I needed to save some of the 2 hours I'd paid for. He arrived while I was talking with the bulb company's customer service and stood around while I talked with them and then with Home Depot trying to find whatever that part was. Mike's helper took one of the light fixtures out leaving the one side inoperable and the other side with only one fluorescent bulb working. Mike hooked up an LED rope light I'd purchased for me to see the amount of light but it was too dim. I had to provide him a screwdriver to even do that part. After 30 minutes of the 2 of them standing around talking to each other about the kind of tool bags they had and where they got them and otherwise chit chatting with each other while I tried to find whatever parts those were I needed, they left telling me to reschedule when I got those parts. After spending 3.5 hours finding the correct parts and then finding a Home Depot with them in stock but only after going to 3 of them only to be told those weren't what I needed or they had the wrong item, I finally found what I hope are the right parts, rescheduled for the next day between 9am and 1pm. At 1230pm I called the company and after being on hold for a while was told someone would call me right back. No call back. Called them again to be told that Brian, the owner would call me back. Still no call back. Called again. Brian had gone to lunch. I asked why I needed to talk to Brian when all I wanted was the electrician to come out and was told that I had used up the hour I had paid for. I told her I'd paid for 2 hours, the guys were here 30 minutes and didn't do any of the work. She said she'd ask Brian to call me asap. No call. I'd say that the "electrician" who came here wasn't really an electrician or he would have known what to do and what parts were necessary. Why they thought a 75 year old grandmother would know what electrical parts to get is beyond me and why they didn't go get the parts themselves to do what should have been easy for someone who knew what they are doing even if it took up part of the 2 hours is ridiculous. I would never recommend this company to anyone and would warn anyone wanting to use them to NOT even bother calling.

At Speedy Electric and A/C, we are committed to customer satisfaction, and take these matters very seriously. There were several roadblocks in this situation that were unfortunate. We are an electric and A/C service company, and not a lighting company. While you provided some information for our technicians, they were not given adequate information to complete the service at your residence. Our technicians spent time at Home Deopt and onn the phone with the lighting company prior to your appointment to try an obtain the correct ballast to convert your fixture. The fixture you provided was not intended for use with the bulbs you were purchased. Typically, if you are using led lighting, you would need to have an led fixture. The bulbs were purchased directly from the manufacturer, therefore, a retail outlet would not have the necessary supplies for this conversion. The preparations were not done in advance of your appointment in order for our technicians to get to work immediately. Perhaps, the gathering of necessary items for the job should have been done prior to scheduling your service. With 2 men on the job, over 3 labor hours have been spent on this job. Not to mention the hours spent with our office staff who were attempting to find a solution for you. The owner contacted you himself, and offered to come out the next day, free of charge, to rectify this situation. At this juncture, we have invested far more that the two hours of work that were purchased. Again, this is an unfortunate situation, and we gave every opportunity for a solution, and were denied that opportunity. Refunding your purchase at this point is not an option, given the investment we have already made in the job. The offer still stands for the owner to come out and complete the work. Two workman showed up. One was an apparent electrician the other apparently his helper. I told them what I wanted done; e.g., the installation of a light fixture in the kitchen or the installation of two electrical outlets or a hall light connected to an already existing adjacent light switch. The kitchen light work appeared to be too complicated and they did not have the parts on their truck to install the electric switches. They left and returned on a later date. I had the two men take down and install a new ceiling fan in lieu of the other work. The ceiling fan works fine. It took about 45 minutes to install. I hired a different contractor who got the work done in a professional manner.
Description of Work: Hired to provide electrical services. The cost was suppose to cover 4 hours of work or 2 hours of work if 2 workers showed up.

Thank you for your review. The Angie's List Big Deal is 2 hours of labor for one electrician or 1 hour of labor for two electricians and it is for one service call. It is our policy, for safety reasons, to send two electricians on jobs. The new outlets would have required additional materials that are not normally carried on the truck since we do not cut sheet rock for outlet installations. We obtained the necessary materials, but when we returned to do the work, we were asked to just install a new ceiling fan. Please call our office if you would like to discuss this further.
