It went pretty okay. The only thing I remember was that it was an evening dispatch and it was late to the point that it was dark when they were servicing the AC. They had me waiting around all afternoon and evening and didn't' show up until 7:00 or 8:00 at night. They determined that the system was low on Freon and added about a pound. I looked it up on the internet and the price that they charged was fair.

They came out to the house exactly when they said they would and did all work requested in a timely, professional manner. They cleaned up behind themselves and offered to do anything else we needed. We will DEFINITELY call them again since we have several more small electrical jobs that need doing.

The guys were great. Very courteous. Very prompt and efficient. Took about an hour but they wasted no time getting the job done. They had to saw a new hole for the new electrical box which they did without messing up the ceiling. I'll have to get a drywall person in to fix the old hole but I knew upfront that I'd have to do this so no problem there. They made sure the area was clean before they left.
Description of Work: Repositioned a chandelier. They put in a new electrical box in the ceiling where we wanted the chandelier to hang from.

Speedy Electric did a fantastic job. We paid for the two hours of service for $99.00. We needed a ceiling fan replaced, two closet fixtures replaced, and a kitchen light bulb replaced that had broken off in the socket. They called before coming out and arrived at exactly the time they had said. Both men started work immediately and finished up everything in 40 minutes. We had purchased the fixtures ahead of time so we had everything ready for them. The service was flawless, they were super nice, and we will use them again. A+++++

I hired Speedy Electric to wire some track lighting, sconces and some security camera cable. I thought I was going to get one electrician for 2 hours that I could work with but they sent one electrician and what I can only describe as a "helper" and say that one hour with "two" is the same as two hours of service. I would agree if both were highly skilled electricians, but you're essentially getting an hour cut from your deal so that the electrician can train this "helper." Speedy Electric is anything but speedy. They give you a 3-hour window of service and still miss it by two hours ... if they show up that day ... but they have lots of excuses. The work is also sub-par. No attention to detail. The workers will also damage drywall and have you believe that it's normal and up to you to fix. Wrong on both counts ... even though I did end up fixing their mistakes. The wiring for the track lighting went relatively smoothly ... even though the holes were cut off-center of the corners (attention to detail) and used the wrong junction boxes (they didn't want to the ones I supplied because it would have required them going into the attic to install them). That took them about 20 minutes for two holes and running wires. Then they attempted to do the wiring for the wall sconces. The electricians needed to use a flex bit to drill through a fire break but the one they brought was damaged so I lent them mine. Watching them work was like watching keystone cops. It's like they had never actually used a flex bit before. They were constantly bickering at each other ... the young "helper" cursing in the attic (I understand, it's a sweat box up there but you still need to be a professional). The more experienced guy got the first sconce hole wired (leaving a hole in the drywall in my office closet on the other side of the wall since he didn't drill straight up). "It happens" he says. "You can't expect it to be perfect." Really? That's why I hire professionals and not do it myself. The "helper" then attempts to do the second sconce hole. This is where everything goes off the rails. He accidentally drills through the drywall into my office and gets mad. The experienced guy goes into the attic to try to guide him but at this point the "helper" is frustrated and mad. He attempts to drill the hole a couple more times then curses, says he done trying and leaves. The older guy apologizes, says to buy another hour and they can finish. They had spent 40 minutes trying to wire the sconces ... I wasn't going to pay for another hour of their incompetence. After they leave I finish the wiring (in about 15 minutes by myself). I call Speedy electric and explain the situation. I try to give companies a chance to make a bad situation right and I give them credit for apologizing profusely and acknowledging the problem. They agree to send out two more guys to do the security cable wiring to compensate for me having to repair the damage to the drywall and the issues with the previous workers. The two guys missed the appointment completely and I had to reschedule for another day. They put me as the first stop and they showed up pretty close to when they were supposed to. These guys did ok, but again they damage things and shrug it off and again, I had to lend them some equipment. One guy saw that I had electrical fishing poles and asked to use them. Unfortunately he forgot that he had my pole tips and left with them. I say forgot because I doubt he'd actually want to steal pole tips. The helper here (he actually was a pretty good helper overall) accidentally stepped on the ceiling of my garage and left a slight heal mark in the ceiling. I didn't catch it until a couple days after so that's on me for not catching it. The other guy ripped off a vent from the soffit to run the wiring (damaging the vent) and when I asked him if we could put up a new vent (I said I was willing to pay for it) he said, "that's up to you" and screwed the bent and damaged vent to the soffit. Why don't I give them an F instead of the C grade? The people who manage Speedy Electric tried to make it right and to a certain extent they did. I did have more work done than was reasonably expected for the "2-hour" deal so that needs to be acknowledged. However, due to the damage to my property and the frustration of the experience I won't use them again.

He booked me 3 or 4 days after I bought the deal. There was an extra 20 dollar cover I had to buy. I told him there was going to be an external plug going to the outside and he kind of complained that I should have to provide the part but it didn't say anywhere in the deal that I had to buy the plug to cover it and all that stuff. I had to go to Home Depot to get the part. The price was decent. He punched like a few holes in the wall instead of one because he was using the wrong flash to the wall.

When installing electrical items, we are required to complete the work in compliance with current electrical code. The code currently states that outside outlets require the covers your mentioned. The Angie's List deal for 2 hours of electrical labor covers labor only, and explains that material expenses are not included in the cost. I certainly apologize if there was any misunderstanding about the limitations of the deal. As to the issues with holes in the wall during installation, we were not made aware of any concerns prior to this review. It was horrible. I tried to get a refund but it didn't work. He said there was something that had to be done. They didn't come on time. He came when it was pitch dark. I called to do the reschedule but he came out. You can't look at the AC units in the dark. He came in and there was a whistling in our air conditioning unit that he said was a quick fix. It turned out we needed a whole new condenser. It was more than a few hundred dollars to fix it and add some Freon. They said it would take an hour for every unit but he came out in 45 minutes or maybe 30 minutes. It was so unsettling. I called the office and they said he's the best out there. I called another company and everything was fixed from them. The pricing was fair. They're supposed to be here first thing in the morning but they didn't come until late at night. They were professional.

Brian was prompt on providing an estimate even though rainy day and last minute request. His people were on time and finished the job as schedule. Brian was on site to check his folks work, he made sure the inspection was done by the cit and made sure the electricity was turn on as promised.

It could have been better, but it was okay. There was an additional charge because we had to do that again with them so they could come and finish the job. That was only for a time limit of 1 hour and we needed them to come out for an additional amount of time, which I believe was another hour. When I called the company, they said we can just do it directly through them. We had to buy special screw so we paid around $140. We had 2 different crews coming out. The first crew was taking personal phone calls and discussing personal matters with me. The guy was going through a divorce or separation. That was a little bit frustrating. The company sent out 2 additional people a couple of days later to finish the work that I had, and the people they sent were phenomenal. They were hardworking and polite. My interaction with them was pretty good. There was the issue of the first crew that came in that I wasn't thrilled with, but overall it was okay. The work turned out great.
Description of Work: We had to do it twice with Speedy Electric & AC. We used the Big Deal the first time they were out. They did ceiling fan-light combo, hung a chandelier, and put on a track light.

I purchased a deal for two hours of electrical service for $99. The company sent two workers, which reduced the time to one hour. They arrived on time and were prepared for the work. You could tell one of the electricians was in charge as he took the lead, the other really did not speak. I think he may have been an apprentice as he was very young. After I went over what I wanted done, I was told that there was not enough time for them to do it all. I was not happy about that, but what are you going to do? I then prioritized the jobs, so that at least they would do the things I was not comfortable with. The more experienced electrical replaced the flood light, my GFCI outlets and several regular outlets in the dining room. (I wanted to switch all of the outlets in my main living area as they had become loose). The younger guy maybe replaced three outlets in one hour, maybe?? All together they replaced 7 outlets (two GFCI) and 1 flood light. Once the hour was up, they told me I could purchase more time at $150 an hour or purchase another Angie's Deal. I declined. One of my major reasons for hiring an electrician was to make sure that my loose outlets were not caused by any sort of faulty electrical workings and the older guy assured me that my system was fine. I replaced the rest of the outlets and light switches myself the next weekend. Hiring an electrician, for me, was for peace of mind and I got that. If I ever had any other electrical needs that I did not feel comfortable doing, I would hire Speedy Electric and A/C again through an Angie's Deal. The Angie's Deal was great price wise, as they would have charged $300 for the same time frame. The lead guy was quick, but the younger guy was not. I think that if I would have had two experienced guys, they would have been able to do more. Even I can replace more than five outlets in an hour. :-) I felt like the work that was done was solid work and I would recommend the Angie's Deal, but for $150 an hour I am not so sure. I think you could find a good electrician for less. Either way, they get an A for the work.

A more senior electrician can teach and coach much more effectively than classrooms. Most Master Electricians had a mentor teach them most everything they know, and value the education gleaned from their mentor. Our standard rate for 2 men for one hour is $150/per hour. All went ok, but the big complaint is that in cutting thru the wall/ceiling, they didn't put down any plastic to catch dust, etc and left a mess that had to be scrubbed off of the floor on hands and knees as the dust and particles didn't come up on an easy sweep. They must be more professional on that front. Also left tools several days. They were friendly enough but that part where we had to clean up was not good/cool. We didn't have furniture in new house but doesn't matter. My girlfriend was sore a couple days from getting up the crap the way the painter showed her as I was out of town.

They did a good job. I didn't know you needed to have all the materials on-hand prior to the job regarding the CAT5 line (it was my misunderstanding as I had the light fixture). They have done work for me in the past and I have been very happy with their service. I will use them again - they are very knowledgeable and always very fair.
Description of Work: Additional work purchased as I purchased the 2 hours for $99. They installed an outside light. Fixed my small lights that are located along my fence line. Installed a CAT5 internet line.

Friendly service technicians. The 3-way switched did not function quite right after the initial service, so I followed up. They were very friendly and got somebody out to correct it the next day.
