At our initial meeting, Dave examined the chair, outlined the work it would need, explained how they would proceed and gave an estimate. Gabe pointed out that the back was missing a rung, which I had not noticed. While they started the repairs, I went to Ethan Allen and ordered suitably old-fashioned upholstery fabric for the seat. Once I got the fabric I took it by the shop and saw the wood structure repaired and already looking much better. They had hand-carved a replacement rung which looks just like the original. We checked the finish color Gabe had begun to apply, to make sure it complemented the fabric. Within a few more days the project was done. When I went to pick up the chair, I was astonished at how beautiful it looked -- sheer perfection. Dave explained that they had used entirely "Old World Traditional" methods, the same as the original craftsman would have used to build the piece. They truly brought my hopelessly beat-up relic back to life. It is now a beautiful, sturdy, functional piece of furniture that I am happy to show off to anyone. Dave and Gabe treated that chair as if it had belonged to their own ancestors--and honored the original estimate. I would feel perfectly confident bringing them even the most delicate, valuable antique, regardless of condition. I'm sure you can get restoration work done for less, but if you really want it done right, I strongly recommend the pros at Antique Artistry.
Description of Work: Our family has a late-19th-century straight chair that had been neglected for decades. The seat frame was broken, the upholstered cushion torn and losing its supports, the wood dried and dull. Dave and Gabe repaired and strengthened the structure, refinished the wood and had the seat completely redone.

It was excellent. Their work was very good. They did an excellent job. They were very businesslike. Their prices are kind of high. I would use their services in the future too.
Description of Work: I used the services of Antique Artistry for furniture refinishing about a month ago. They refinished an antique trunk for me.
