Mr. Jones was called out to my house through my home warranty company. He called me within hours of getting notification that I had an issue and we arranged a time for him to come. This was the second time he came to my house as he had previously put in a new air conditioning unit for us. He looked at the furnace, the thermostat, and asked me a few questions about what may have occurred. He checked the outside unit and found that our dogs had chewed a wire and that was the issue. Once the wire was changed he gave me a tip on how to keep the dogs away from it so we didn't have another issue with the wire. He also marked our furnace plug so we would know the exact way it had to be plugged in to make sure that it was working right. I didn't find this to be a demeaning gesture but more as a helpful hint to me. I am unsure of the change in behavior from the other reviewers experiences with Mr. Jones but am happy that I had a more positive experience.
Description of Work: My furnace stopped working out of the blue one day.

This guy was sent out by my home warranty company for a cooling issue complaint. He came in, checked the temperature and said the coils needed to be cleaned and that the outside unit was clogged up which I knew was bull. When I asked about why some of the rooms did not receive air all he could say was "I don't know what to tell you" which really ticked me off. How can an a/c technician not know? Did not even bother to check the ducts for issues after I had shown him that the vents were not pushing air. Was very disinterested and not helpful at all. Then he said the coils needed to be cleaned and the condensor was clogged which I knew was not. I ended up calling out two more contractors and those two actually found the issue which is that the system itself is failing due to old age (over 20 yrs old). The coils are FAILING and could not be cleaned because the unit is old and made of metal. The acid used in cleaning that component would actually damage them so in other words it would be a waste of time and money. They are also rusted out so not much sense in adding acid to the mix! The blower is also damaged which he failed to report or mention to the home warranty company so now that is another battle for me to deal with. Also the outside unit is fine, which I already knew. The other companies I hired also went into the attic to check out the system unlike this guy and found more issues which of course needed to be reported to the warranty company. FYI I looked up the contractor ratings with several review sites. Turns out the contractor has nothing but complaints. You can do much better. Find another provider!

We came home from a trip Aug. 12 to a terribly hot house and noticed the fan on our condenser was not spinning. We called our home warranty and they told me L and J Services would call Monday morning. Mr. Jones did call and said he would be at my house as soon as the rain stopped...a light drizzle. He sounded very put out on the phone. I called him around 3:00 and asked if was still planning on coming by because it had not been raining for over three hours. He got upset and became very rude telling me he was on a roof and didn't know if he would be able to make it or not. He did show up about an hour later and made it very clear that this was not what he wanted to be doing. He changed my AC filter even though I had recently changed it. He used a new filter that I provided. Then he asked where my condenser was. I told him it was behind a shed and the easiest way to get to it is by putting a ladder, like the above ground pool type, up one side and down the other over the cinder block fence. I had already got the ladder out of the garage for him to use. He attempted to look over the fence but was really too short to be able to see anything. He told me there was too much brush- there are three very small trees and some ivy to the left on top of he fence- for him to be able to climb over and that I would have to provide better access for him. I'm not sure if he meant cut a door through the cinder block or take down the shed. Mr. Jones was very rude and inconsiderate the entire time he was at my house. From the moment he walked up to my front door and did not introduce himself or even say hi, I knew I would never use him again. After he refused to look at my AC he sat in his van, made phone calls and looked at papers for several minutes I started to feel uncomfortable. I was home alone with 3 children. I motioned for him to leave my property because he wouldn't roll down his window. He put his hand to his ear saying he couldn't hear me and waved. He sat there longer so I called the police to get him to leave. Mr. Jones drove away before the police arrived. I called the warranty company to inform them that he refused to do service and they can't send anyone else out until they get a report from him. I can almost bet he waits a long time before reporting anything. I have never dealt with a company owner as rude as Mr. Jones. I have no idea how he is a member of the BBB. I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy. I was appalled to find out he was the owner of the company.
Description of Work: Larry Jones was called because the fan on my condenser was not spinning causing my AC not to work properly. Mr. Jones changed my air filter.
