I was in my front yard and a kind looking handyman working across the street APPROACHED ME about trimming my trees. He introduced himself as Aurelio Luna and gave me a price of $600.00 for trimming my trees and a flyer describing his other talents (ie. tile work, flower bed cleaning, etc.) I thought the price was reasonable. Luna said he would start by Wednesday of the next week. Mr. Luna knocked on my door on Tuesday (a day earlier than anticipated) and said he was almost finished at my neighbor's and would start on my trees in one hour, but he would need $100 to start because he had to purchase chains. I told Luna he could start on the two small live oak trees and I would pay him $100 for trimming the live oaks and then he could purchase the chains for the big mulberry tree. A contractor without the necessary tools?? Hmmm... that should have been my first clue! I asked Mr. Luna if he was going to cheat me and he referred to his flyer that said "God Bless" on it. I trusted he was a Christian and wouldn't take advantage of me. I went over to visit my neighbor and told Luna to come get me before he started at my house. He came over to my neighbor's and said he had something to show me. His helper (appearing to be under the influence of something) had already trimmed a few small branches (less than 1" diameter) off of ONE of the live oak trees Luna had contracted to trim. The guy had BUTCHERED my red oak that I told them "DO NOT TOUCH". Luna asked if I wanted him to shape up what was left of the red oak tree. I told him "No... I just want you to finish trimming the live oaks." He said he was through for the day and he needed the $100 right then and he would come back tomorrow and finish up. I was afraid not to give him the money because of the demonic look (blood shot glazed over dilated eyes) of his helper. Luna took my money, signed a receipt, and left the limbs in my yard assuring me he would come back and finish the job the following day. Luna was at my neighbor's continuing his work there the next day and by 5:00pm had not removed the debris from my yard. I asked Luna when he was going to remove the limbs out of my yard, as I had mowers coming on Thursday. He said he didn't know when he could get to it. I got firm with him and told him the limbs had to be moved THAT DAY. He finally showed up at 7:00 PM that evening and removed the limbs from my yard. Mr. Luna never returned to finish trimming the live oak trees that I paid him in advance to trim or to finish the contracted job. Mr. Luna kept my $100.00 and I haven't seen or heard from him since. I had to hire someone else to shape up the red oak tree that was butchered by Mr. Luna and his helper. BEWARE of this contractor!!
Description of Work: Our agreement was for Mr. Luna to trim two small live oak trees and a large mulberry tree.
