He removed the 3 rotten beams- did not replace- and removed and replaced one rotten board, and tried to repair the other rotten boards with putty. Then he stopped working, and asked for more money because his drill or saw broke. At that point I had paid him around 50%, so I gave him the reminder and he never came back. Every week for many weeks I ask when, and he puts it off another week. Always some sort of excuse. No truck, etc... I offered many times to haul the lumber for him as I had a truck, he refused. He has abandoned the job and I eventually fired him, losing my investment. He was told not to return to my property. I have considered court, but its probably not worth my time over the $400 loss.
Description of Work: I contracted with him to do repairs outside my rental property- which is next door to his home. I have a written contract. I hired him to repair wood trim outside my home at 702 Brittany, with a promise of lots more when he is done. Specifically, he was to replace rotten boards on the siding up on the roof, and replace 3 rotten decorative beams and do a roof "tune up" (caulking). In addition, stain all the stained areas on the face of the house, including the new work.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. We attempted to use Golden Rule Home Improvement for a bathroom re-model. When Woody Sigrist (owner) came out to give us an estimate, he told us that he could get the job done in 5 consecutive business days. We gave him a down payment at the time of the estimate and a draw a few days into the project which began on January 6th. After he tore apart our bathroom there would be days that he would not show up into the late afternoon and some days that he didn't show up at all. No phone call, no text message, no form of communication to let us know if and when he was coming out. My husband confronted Woody on 4 separate occasions about his lack of communication and about him showing up late in the day and then claiming he didn't have enough time to get a lot done. He would say he was sorry but we saw no change in his behavior. One day we found a couple of beer cans in the outside trashcan that Woody was using. I asked him if him and his assisstant had been drinking OUR beer on the job. He looked me in the eye and said "No, I promise we werent drinking. We found those cans in your backyard and threw them away for you." I knew he was lying because my husband and I had not had one of our beers in months. A few days later he confessed and said that they had a few of our beers on the job. His "assistant" that he would bring with him was incredibly unprofessional. He reeked of smoke, wore baggy pants and wife-beater shirts, burped in front of us, left the toilet seat up, and even asked my husband to buy him food. Woody Sigrist is also a scam artist. On our original contract he quoted us $300 for his plumber to do all the plumbing work in our bathroom. Woody did not work for almost an entire week because he kept telling us that his plumber was busy. After complaining to him several times about that Woody decided to have a go at the plumbing himself. After working on it for several hours he said, "There is a reason that I dont list plumbing as one of the services I offer because I'm not good at it." He promised us he would have his plumber out the next day. The next day we receive a text from Woody saying that the plumber was going to be too expensive and that he could do it himself...he says this the day after he told us that he was not good at plumbing. We had already given hime the $300 and we realized that he had pocketed that money we had given him 2 weeks prior. So we found a plumber on our own and paid about $200 for that guy, who said that he had to re-do everything that Woody had attempted to do. We then confronted Woody on everything...the no shows, the coming in late, the not communicating, the plumbing fiasco, and him pocketing the $300 bucks. It apparently did not sink in to him because he had the nerve to ask us for another payment to finish the job and he also asked us for gas money. Woody smokes like a chimney which i'm sure is a pretty expensive habit, but yet he dosent have money for gas. Even though Woody actually owed us money we just went ahead and fired him. We found another guy to do the work for us and he is almost done with our bathroom after only working on it for 1 day. It was an entire month of stress, of frustration and anger, and of money lost. I will not recommend Golden Rule Home Improvement to anyone.
