Ellis Smith Roof America

Ellis came out and checked our roof for problems and took before and after pictures and fixed all the bad places, and there where some big areas to be fixed. Just want to think Ellis for not trying to up sell me on a bunch of crap I didn't need or want. True pleasure to work with.

Ellis is a very nice man with a lot of knowledge. Explains what needs to be done in understandable terms and then gets it done. I would not hesitate to recommend Ellis Smith Roof America or use their services again myself.

So far, I am very pleased. Several other contractors were contacted previously without any of them willing to tackle the job. We are very pleased with Ron Bostic who was recommended by Ellis Smith Roofing.

Ellis came out quickly after I called, to inspect a leak that I've had "repaired" by two prior roofers which obviously has yet to stop leaking. I've been through the estimate process many times by now and I'm used to slow responses and no call-backs. Ellis was very timely with contacting me back and was able to come out the next day after the ice had melted away. He returned shortly thereafter to complete the work. The prior two roofers have sent subs to my house to do the actual labor, but this time it was Ellis who showed up to complete the work - I really appreciated that. I felt comfortable that there would be no mis-communication on what needed to be done. Also, something I'd like to point out about Ellis is that he flat out told me how I could seal the holes/exposures myself, but offered to do it for a charge. I appreciate that he didn't just quote me a price and hope to win my business. He won my trust instead, as I felt like I was dealing with someone who is very fair and wanted to address the problem as much as I did. I rated Ellis an "A" on everything but price, since "B" is "good" and I'd say that Ellis' price was exactly that. I probably could have found someone who would do the work for less, but I'm smart enough to know that cheap doesn't always equate to quality. I'd rate Ellis an "A" if the category was "Value" and not "Price". He has also guaranteed the work for one year, which is something I am willing to be additional for. I do want to caveat that I haven't had a rainy day since the repair to actually confirm that the leak has been fixed. Assuming it is, my review remains firm and I'd wholeheartedly recommend Ellis to anyone. I will update this review if that is not the case and I need to have Ellis back out.

Ellis Smith was my first call after doing an Angie's List search for Roofers. I got my home inspection report back and there were several items on it dealing with the roof. I wanted an expert opinion. Ellis answered the phone and very patiently listed to the issues I was concerned about. He asked me to email him the complete inspection report in order for him to review the pictures. Basically, there were areas of failing flashing, separated rafters, struts, and hips, and poor siding. He got back to me within 30 minutes of our call with a summary of the labor intensive work necessary to fix it the right way ($25k). I'm taking his advice to find a house with less problems. Even though he won't be hired for this job he will be the first call I make the next time I need to hire a roofer. Great guy! I highly recommend him. Thanks Ellis ;)

Ellis arrived when scheduled and examined the leak on my roof, explained the issue (loose shingles), provided an overall assessment of the roof, and offered options (repairs with a future discount if I selected him to replace the roof, or complete replacement). As the roof was 23 years old and in deteriorating shape, I requested a quote to replace it. Ellis provided a competitive price and explained options (20 vs. 30 year, shingle colors, etc.). I accepted his bid and the work was scheduled. When weather delayed the install by a day, I was notified promptly via e-mail. The roof was installed the following day. By the time I came home from work, everything was done - the new roof was on, the area around the house was clean, and all the workers were gone. From end to end, a completely professional and drama-free experience. I would certainly recommend the company and would use them again.

Thanks to Ellis for travelling an hour on a late Thursday afternoon in traffic to help me with a roof leak. He was prompt, professional and didn't complain about my 8/12 roof pitch. He also offered suggestions in case my leak problem is not resolved. The cost of the service was worth me not having to get on my roof and attempt to fix the problem. Since he checked the roof, I haven't had any more leaks in my roof. He said I should be able to get another few years out of my roof. He also told me that the top of my chimney needs some chimney repair. He did a good job.

Everything went well, one contractor came out and did all the work. Everything was quick and easy.

Ellis Smith was very prompt in responding to my service order. He was there first thing Monday Morning, did a thorough inspection of my roof and said that my roof needed more/different things that the scope of the Angie's List deal would provide.

The service went fine. One technician came out and completed the job in about 1 hour. They did exactly what the deal stated. He did a good job but I thought the pricing was a little high for the service. I had no problem scheduling the deal.

Fantastic service; couldn't ask for more efficient work crew or responsiveness from everyone at Ellis Smith---from scheduling to completion, it was handled with the utmost professionalism. I will definitely use them again and refer them to anyone needing roof repair.

Process was simple and Ellis Smith is responsive, knowledgeable, and his pricing is extremely competitive for the high level services he provides. Being a Contractor myself, I tend to be overly critical of home repairs. Roof America finished the repairs in less than two (2) days, did an excellent job with housekeeping, and Ellis even came out himself immediately after I told him about my minor complaint (the crew forgot to reattach the overhead cable to the soffit, really no big deal). If my roof ever needs future repairs I'll only be making one phone call.

For a homeowners insurance hail damage claim, I researched Angie's List and chose Ellis Smith Roof America based on their top ratings. Ellis came out, did an inspection and gave a detailed estimate recommending full roof and gutter replacement. My insurance company at first gave a low, "partial repair" estimate. Upon Ellis' advice, I requested another estimate from my insurance company, and Ellis agreed to come back out and look at the roof again with this second adjuster who agreed with Ellis' earlier findings and submitted his opinion that a full replacement was indeed justified. Ellis' crew did a great job, and right on schedule. I would fully recommend Roof America for their professionalism, punctuality and quality of workmanship. Ellis is an honest guy to do business with - he does what he says he will do and shows up when says he will. All in all, a very favorable experience.

Scope of work was to big for the special price and couldn't commit the man hours to complete.

He came out and took a look at what I thought needed just shingles replaced, he said it would be more work than I anticipated and would need an entire roof replacement. He was very helpful and thorough, he examined the entire roof and explained everything well. I just decided to cancel the deal at this time.

They said it was a big house, and I said yes, I understood that I’d need more work done and that was fine. Their quote came in really high, so I decided not to use them.

We bought this home a few months ago, and wanted to get a system in place to get the gutters cleaned regularly. The big deal seemed a good place to start with and we thought if it works out, we can continue with the same service provider on a regular basis. The service provider came by and started working on it this morning. After cleaning out one of the front gutters, he said the work is too much to do at the price of the voucher. I tried asking him what we would have to pay if he were to complete the job. He said it would take him a couple of days if he has to do it himself and that I am going to be better off calling a few gutter companies (who have a crew) to get some estimates. He said that I should contact Angie's List for a full refund.

Gave an estimate without ever climbing on the roof. Not exactly sure how he knew what is causing the leak. Did not give a confidence that the problem will be fixed.

I have had the pleasure of having work done by this company twice in the last year. Both were the results of the December 2013 ice storm in the Dallas area. I had limbs fall in December and later in May as a result of the ice. The work was done promptly,quickly and very professionally. He inspected the roof and gutters both times and sent me photos of the entire roof and gutter system. i wouldn't hesitate to hire him again when I need his expertise. Very reasonable pricing and very professional work and advice.
