Description of Work: I needed help figuring out where and why my roof was leaking on a back porch. I had used another Angie's List provider first who was not responsive at all so I was apprehensive with Ellis Smith came out. Very quickly, he won me over. He got on the roof and explained to me the source of what he thought was causing the leak. Then he got back up on the roof and showed me with a water hose why the leak was related to something other than shingles. He was correct and gave me exactly what I needed to do to have it fixed. The other roofer never even got on the roof and told me it was a bigger problem than was actually true. I called Ellis Smith within a week regarding another roof problem not related to the original problem and he was very responsive. At this point I wouldn't waste my time with anyone else. Ellis Smith was easy to work with, he was very responsive, and he didn't make the roofing issues a bigger problem than they needed to be.

Thank you for your review. This roof needs more repairs than a $199.00 coupon can cover. I explained that to you during our meeting. I did the work that you paid for on the coupon which is detailed on the "fine print" section and is detailed for you to read before you buy. Your garage has shingle damage and this alone is more than $199.00 in materials. When you bought this house, the inspectors report should have shown you the condition of the roof. I give everyone the opportunity to get a refund if I can not complete the work that is needed for the coupon price. I also do my best to repair your roof for what you have spent and give you a no obligation estimate for more repairs, which is what happened here. I have thousands of satisfied customers. Description of Work: We requested for Ellis to do some minor roof repairs/tuneups as advertised in his promotion. He showed up on time and spent very little time on our roof. I do believe that he did some minor caulking. After investigating his work, we were very unhappy and choose to call another roofer, who had to redo his work and some additional work as well. We were extremely happy with them, as they addressed the issues that needed to be taken care off. Ellis is a very nice gentleman and I am sure that he replaces roofs doing an excellent job, but we feel like we threw away that $199 he charged for work that had to be redone by another roofer.

First of all I give all of my customers a free call back if they are not satisfied with the first call. This review is the first time I heard that you were dissatisfied. As I recall this roof needs to be replaced and needs much more work than the coupon price. I discussed this with you and I was very detailed on what was discussed. You had a large hole in the decking and I showed you pictures of what the damage was and I suggested that the roof be replaced. You declined to get an estimate from me to replace the roof and get a refund for the coupon price. You have had several people come out and repair this roof before me yet you blame me because you have a worn out roof. Your husband is a Commercial Real estate professional and I showed both of you the pictures of the damaged decking and other areas that have been patched by others before me. If you were not satisfied you should have said something while I was at the house and would have refunded your money. God bless you with peace, prosperity and perfect health.

Again a member buys a $199.00 maintenance coupon and expects over $4000.00 worth of work on a large, stacked up, 2 story steep home. First of all If you read the "fine print" portion (which is in plain print on the deal) it states that the maintenance coupon you purchased is for 1 story homes that are not steep and 2 story homes that are not steep and can be accessed with a 1 story ladder or 17 feet. This criteria fits 75% of the dwellings in the Metro area. This coupon is for maintenance and is sort of like an oil change for your roof, preventive care. In this case you have a large full 2 story steep roof. This is not covered on the coupon. I arrived on time and explained all this to you and I offered to do my best to stop the leak temporarly. I also inspected all the leaking areas thoroughly so I could give you an accurate estimate. I encourage my members to call me for a simple, no hassle free estimate if you think your house is not in the criteria of the Big Deal. I also explained to you that a house as new and lovely as yours is, and has this many roof leaks, is most likely the result of poor workmanship from the original home builder. You have a very large brick turret that extends up past the 2 story and the base flashing on the radius that was not properly installed, as well as chimney leaks on a rather new stucco fireplace etc. I sent you a complete estimate dated 1-23-15 for $4995.00 detailing the work that needed to be done to correct the poor workmanship of your home builder and stop the leaks. I also offered to refund the original Big Deal price if you decided to have my crew complete this work properly. I give all my customers 1 free call back if you are not satisfied with my big deal maintenance. I give some type of warranty on all my company's work from 1 free call back for 6 months on minor repairs, maintenance and general repairs, and 2 to 20 years labor warranty on residential roofs and flat commercial roofs respectfully, depending on the size and scope of the work and the work performed. As good as we are, we offer warranties for a reason and we respond when we know if there is an issue. This F review is the first time in 10 months I have heard from you, even after several flooding rains last Spring and Summer. We are the best for a reason: we sell great service with no games and pressure. I strive to give my members and customers as much honest information about their project as I can and let them make the best decision for themselves. Our crew has been with us for 26 years and we are background checked, drug free and sober. We have thousands of satisfied customers, all A ratings on the BBB and hundreds of A ratings on Angie's List as well as a Super Service award winner every year because of SERVICE. Description of Work: showed up and was surprised it was a two story house even though the house has a one story roof available. went up on the roof and made the inspection. set up a further appointment for some work then had to change a couple of times either from the owner or his office. finally could not find a time that worked so moved on to another supplier. either he is too busy and does not need my business or is very disorganized.

Well sir first of all I was not surprised it was a 2 story when I first arrived as you said. I was surprised that an educated executive man as yourself purchased a $199.00 coupon and did not read the details of what that coupon actually covered before I drove an hour to your your home. The Coupon you purchased does not cover 2 story or steep roofs. Yours is both as well as over 7000 square feet. We are not disorganized. I run 2 businesses and a non profit organization that are all debt free. I am one of the top 5 roofing companies in North Texas among over 3200 other companies and one of the top roofing companies in the country. The reason we attempted to reschedule our second visit is because of the reason I explained to you" Our crew chief had a family member who was hospitalized". Heaven forbid that if you sir had that happen, wouldn't you ask for a re-schedule? I offered to come the very next day on Saturday and you refused. So You are the one who cancelled sir. we are a Christian company and we put our people first. Our crew has been with us for over 26 years and the reason is simple.
