He asked me to fax the insurance settlement worksheet and he'd get me on his schedule to come out and estimate the damage. I declined to share this information with him before his visit. He told me that all roofing companies all work the same way when insurance is involved. I still declined to share this information as I wanted to get a non-biased estimate.He told me he would call me in a few days to get a visit scheduled. Its been a month and I've not heard from him. I cannot and would not recommend this gentleman for any work.

Went very well. Advised the use of Hardie board where repairs are needed.

Ellis is a nice guy so it is unfortunate our repairs had several mishaps. Without going into excruciating details, there were a multiple slip-ups and delays but ultimately the job was completed and I think the work was good after all said and done. I was compensated slightly for my inconvenience. Everybody makes mistakes. Inevitable. I think they are probably a good company 9 out of 10 times but I was the exception in the is case. I won't use them again in the future.

I recently purchased a gas hybrid water heater and I was worried about the vents going up through the roof. Another roofer (during an earlier visit) told me that there were gaps that needed to be 'properly' sealed, and gave me some outrageous quote. Turns out he was full of it and Ellis proved it by snapping some photos. I'm no expert on vents, but they certainly didn't look like a problem to me. Ellis also warned me about a couple of issues - one of which he fixed temporarily while he was up on the roof. Overall, a nice and honest guy who used technology to his advantage by sending me pictures from the roof. Why don't more roofers do this - what do they have to hide? If I need more roofing services in the future, I know who to call...

They were awesome! He emailed me the photos, plus he talked to me about the condition of my roof. He told me it was in excellent condition, which I was happy to hear. He also checked my rooftop antenna to make sure it was fastened on properly. He did that at no extra charge.

I called Roofing America in the morning and told them I had a small repair job to be done, and that I wanted a general inspection on the roof. Before noon, Ellis did the inspection and saw a few small items that required attention. He called me at work and told me what he had found. He said he made the repairs while he was up on the roof. Because it was a small job and didn't take much time to take care of it, he charged me less than their normal minimum. He did a good job at a very reasonable price. I would recommend he to anyone.

During a big storm in this past January, I discovered that there was water coming in through the roof. I thought there was a leak in the roof but it turned out to be a passive air vent that had been blown off. I purchased the Buy Now Deal and called Ellis who answered promptly and got to work as soon as the rain had stopped. He came out, inspected my roof, took some photos and shared with me. When it turned out to be a passive air vent that had been blown off, I was glad the damage was not going to be costly. He purchased a passive air vent and replaced it. Ellis also checked for any other maintenance items on the roof. He told me my roof was still in good shape and left. After all was said and done, I was unhappy with the price I paid because it did not really cost all that much and I had already paid for the Angies List Buy Now Deal. I'm not sure what could have been done except maybe getting a part of it refunded. I really did not have anything negative to say about Ellis and his professionalism or work. I just did not like the fact that I paid so much for something perhaps I could have done or hired a handyman to do and I was hoping Ellis would take that step to address it but he did not. But I understand that he did not have an obligation to do so. It was just something I had hoped for.

Mr. Ellis was courteous, on time, and provided photos and helpful information on the condition of my roof. He made a couple of suggestions regarding some minor issues with the chimney caps. In no way was he pushy about having his company do them, instead suggested I go to my original roof installer. Overall, this was a pleasant and productive visit.

My roof was leaking and there was a Big Deal on Angie's List that provided roof inspection and sealing. I called and they set up an appointment to come the next day. It was raining so he called to reschedule. He showed up when promised, did the inspection, sealed the places that needed sealing and sent me pictures of each angle of my roof. I would definitely use him again!

I would say that it was very positive. We got a special through Angie's List. I thought he was very professional. He was prompt and on time. He took pictures of the roof and gave me his assessment of how much longer it would last. He then offered me services to put a new roof on but he didn't push me towards it like some of these people would. I was very impressed. He was very professional and I thought that he did a good job.

It turned out that we had to replace the entire roof. Ellis's bid was pretty high - and they do not accept credit cards, so i shopped elsewhere. But, I sincerely appreciate their responsiveness and honesty!

The Ellis Smith Roofers arrived Thursday morning promptly at 9 AM and started replacing the missing and damaged shingles. They did a fast and thorough job - I checked areas of the roof that previously had 1 or 2 missing shingles and those were replaced as well. They also did a good job of cleaning up their work area - there was nothing left behind. They did exactly what they quoted and the estimate was also reasonable for the amount of work that was performed. I would definitely use them again for any future roof related needs.

Ellis was kind enough to call me that morning to tell me that he'll be slightly late due to traffic. When he arrived, Ellis was very professional and kind. I told Ellis about the leak on the roof over my bay window. He inspected the roof and sealed that hole. I also told him about my rodent problem in my attic so he inspected the complete roof and sealed a hole that a rodent can possibly come through on the roof by the side of the house. I had a pleasant experience and I would recommend him.

We called and set up an appointment. Mr. Smith came on time and proceeded to examine the roof. He replaced several shingles and provided pictures of the roof and descibed its condition for our records. He also provided suggestions for maintenance. Mr. Smith was very professional and we will use his services again.

It was a great experience to have a professional roof inspection and minor repairs done. He arrived on time, conducted a thorough and professional inspection, and provided me with a report and 15-20 pictures of the roof before and after the minor maintenance/repairs that he did. He caulked where needed, pounded in some loose nails, added some shingles where needed, and made a recommendation that I get the chimney caulked and painted. Knowing my roof is in good repair overall does much for my peace of heart. When you are a new homeowner who knows little to nothing about what it takes to maintain a house, it is so gratifying to know that I can trust the Angie's List providers like Ellis Smith Roofing. I will definitely use Ellis Smith when (in Texas, it's when, not if) I need a new roof.

Ellis was here 15 minutes early, which I very much appreciated. He inspected our roof, resealed several vents, provided multiple photo's of the roof; vents; seals and provided a written report outlining his results, all via email. Took him almost an hour. The report was brief but thorough. What I really liked was there was zero pressure to sell us anything. He said that we probably could use some more ventilation in our attic which would alleviate a couple of problems he noticed, I asked him how much those would cost to install. "He instantly said--absolutely no need to put those things in now. If you get some roof damage in future, have it done then!" Wow, how often does someone providing a service not try to sell you something right now? There are some worn areas on our roof which if we get a hail storm may become damaged enough for replacement--just not now. This service was well worth the $ 199 paid for the Angie's List Big Deal Coupon. Will definitely call Ellis if we have any problems with our roof in future.

Ellis is a very honest, diligent person. He could have taken advantage of me and told me I needed a new roof. Instead he took photo's and showed me how good everything looked. I would definitely hire him, when a new roof is needed.

I bought a special from Angies list for roof maintenance and sealing. Ellis called me to tell me he was detained and arrived at the revised time that he said he would. He checked all my roofs (main house, porch, breezeway, and garage/back house). He took 17 pictures (and emailed them to me) of roof, pipes, gulley area and skylight to show me what it looked liked or the corrections he made. He sealed pipes, skylight and removed the debris in a gulley area on my roof. After he left, I had another question and sent him an email and he responded within 30 minutes via phone. Also told me when I had electrical lines lying on roof so I could call the electrical company to fix. I was pleased with the service he provided.

I sent him the home inspection via email he quoted a price and stuck to it. He was absolutely pleasant to work with and very professional. On top of that he gave us a veteren's discount. Which really means a lot to us after 27 of military service. thank you Ellis Smith! We will call you again when needed.
