Had my sprinkler guy locate the leak and he had dug about 2' by 4' hole on the ground near the inlet where the water main enters the home and had pinpointed the leak from the "T-Joint" copper piping. I had called baker brothers in that morning (7/15) primarily to get an estimate. The receptionist had explained that there is a $39.00 service fee which would be waived if the job is performed by them. She also clearly explained that depending on the job, it might either be undertaken the same day or the in the next few days. She took the details and fixed an appointment the same day (noon) to send a plumber. Jeremy was the plumber was right on time of the appointment and was very courteous and polite and extremely professional. Patiently listened to the problem and took a look at the leak and explained that it would usually cost around $340.00 to fix this but since I have already got the hole dug out, he'll factor that in and get it done for $275.00. I had requested to go ahead with the work. Took about an hour & half to cut the copper pipe out and weld the new pipes and complete the job. Cleaned up after the work and left the lawn nearly as clean as it was before. Also honored the 10% off coupon from Angieslist. Explained to me that leak is fixed and showed me the "water meter" and explained that the movement on the "red triangle needle" means that there is water flow and since it's not moving it indicates tha there is no further leak.
Description of Work: Fixed the water leak at the "T-joint" copper pipe at front yard by removing the leaking copper joint and the valves and replacing it with about 12 inch copper pipes and couplings along with new gate-valves (2)

It coudn't have been better from start to finish. Price was fair, install was smooth and spotless. They really know their products and took the time to tell me all about the install, new function, and new features of the toilet.
Description of Work: New Toilet: Consulted with well-informed company Technician who helped me with selection of toilet that had the features that I wanted. Estimates for selected items and install were very competive and less than I expected. Install of toilet was within days of order and was a smooth, spotless experience. The same Techncian that sold me the toilet did the install. Their service is prompt and professional and their people wear spotless uniforms!

Mike arrived on time and we discussed the problems we were having. Mike explained that the water heater in question had a reputation for early failure. He gave us options, including trying to get parts from GE and returning at a later date to try to fix the present unit. It was the top line GE sold by Home Depot and just over a year old. We had received a similar assessment from another plumber and had already been turned down by GE's warranty department so decided to go ahead with the work. Assumed the second identical heater would probably fail, so decided to replace both. Mike called the office and had two heaters delivered. He and his assistant worked quickly and finished that day. They Installed two Rheem Fury units which are much better quality than the GE/Home Depot junk and they have better warranties. Mike used covers for the floor and stairway. Cleanup was good. They honored an Angies coupon for $50.
Description of Work: Removed two existing water heaters from attic locations and installed two replacements. On one of the water heaters the pilot would not stay on. The other water heater was of similar model and age.

A good experience. The young man came while I was not here, he did a quality job and I felt comfortable with him here while I was not. He cleaned up after himself as well. I am satisfied. The "B" in price is only because it seems high to replace an outside faucet, I am not sure what this normally costs, but this seems high.

They were quick to schedule our job and the plumber Lee was punctual. He installed the kitchen sink faucet we had purchased from Great Indoors and the faucet was defective. He pulled it back out and installed the replacement new faucet at no charge. He was polite, friendly, efficient and technically proficient. The costs of the job were 'book' charges, not hourly, so he took as long as needed to do a good job but no longer. The gas stove hook up was quick and uneventful - exactly what a homeowner hopes for when they buy trades services. The water heater was not a planned part of the job but it was 15+ years old and never serviced, so we went ahead and had that done as well. Lee returned the next day with a helper and they replaced the WH with a minimum of fuss. Overall, the service provided, from first call to job completion, was efficient and professional.
Description of Work: After a kitchen update, Baker Brothers hooked up a gas cooktop, installed a new faucet and garbage disposal, replaced the old water heater with a new, more energy efficient model and added an auxillary pump to improve efficiency of delivering hot water from the heater tank to the master bath area.

A technician came out and went under the house to evaluate the problem and give us an estimate for the repair. By appointment, two technicians came out, removed the defective drain pipe and installed replacement pipe. The people who came were professional, thorough and very careful to avoid any mess. They were also careful to be sure I understood what was going on and avoided any surprizes in the work or the cost. Good work by good people!

We had two repairs that needed attention and both potentially expensive! Johnny explained what I could expect on all methods of repair or replacement giving me all options to decide what was best for my home and budget. With that information, one was completely replaced, one was repaired. Very impressed with the integrity of this company to give me the facts and letting me decide.

They came out and tried to locate a water leak in my home. They were not able to locate it. They came out and ran a whole bunch of tests and tried a host of methods to find the leak. They believe that when they tried to flush pressure through the pipes that some sediment moved and blocked the leak. So we are currently waiting for it to leak so that they can come back out. I think that the work took longer than it should have, especially since they did not find the leak.

Arrived on time and was very professional. Plumber was not told by dispatcher that I had a clogged sink so he only had equipment for dishwasher installation. While waiting for the equipment to arrive he provided quotes for both the sink and the dishwasher installation. Both seemed high for the amount of work involved. Sink quoted at $270 for less than 1 hour of work and the dishwasher installation was quoted at $330 which was much higher than I was expecting. Had the sink clog cleared but decided to install the dishwasher myself which was not very difficult.

Well, I'm usually pretty skeptical of people coming into my home when my husband isn't home, but Randy C. was very professional and didn't make me feel uncomfortable at all. After looking at what we had done and taking it apart, he determined that there was a problem with the actual copper pipe. He cut a piece off, and reattached everything, and we haven't had any leaks since then. The only not-so-great part was that I was missing work and he had to leave at one point to get a needed part. (I wished that they had these seemingly minor parts with them in all sizes.) After he was done working on the fridge, I asked him some questions about our hot water. He looked at our water heater and explained that it was old and (in his opinion) should be replaced. He gave me prices for everything he suggested, but never once made me feel like he was trying to sell the idea to me. He genuinely seemed like he cared and was trying to be helpful. About a week after his visit, the Baker Brother's office called to follow up on the visit and wanted to clarify if I was interested in the water heater/etc Randy had talked with me about. I informed them that I had already explained to him that it wasn't in our budget right now. (We're still working on fixing broken things, but soon hope to move onto updating working-but-old things.) This call made me a little uncomfortable because it seemed like they were desperate to sell me on that, but she responded very well and thanked me for my business. My whole experience definitely made me think: "If we ever need a plumber again, I want to use him again." And, as it turns out, last week's storm has caused some problem with our sinks. They are backing up near to the point of overflowing. We also just bought a new dishwasher, so Randy's coming out tomorrow to fix the sink problem and install our new dishwasher. I'm sure that it will be quality work, but I'll rate it then!
Description of Work: After just moving into our house, we couldn't get the fridge water line hooked up with the house water line without water spraying everywhere. I saw a TV commercial for $50 off any service by Baker Brothers, so I gave them a call.

The old water heater was barely working and no longer energy efficient (i.e. you had to set the thermostat to max to get any hot water). It seemed like a good time to get it replaced with a higher quality model before the heater leaked or quit working. The tankless water heater was not a cost effective option for us so we decided on a gas water heater. Initially we were just going to get a Whirlpool water heater from one of the big box stores, but learned that the were defective and broke down within the first year or two, plus they are actually made by another company so good luck if something goes wrong (do a Google search for whirlpool water heaters and you'll see what I mean, this also applies to GE brands). I'm not sure why these big box stores are still selling a defective water heaters, guess it's easy money. So we decided it may be better to get this done through a professsional plumber who would use quality components and have much better workmanship. We called Baker Bros. on a Monday and then checked wirth 3 other plumbing companies. We chose Baker Bros. for the following reasons: 1) Lowest cost of the 4 plumbers I contacted 2) The warranty which would cover parts AND labor for 8 years was a key selling point, most of the other plumbers would only cover parts for 6-8 years, but labor would have been for 2 yrs only. So this told me that Baker Bros. really stood behind their work. 3) They said they could install the water heater that Wednesday morning. We wanted to get this done within a week. 4) Angie's List had a $50 off coupon for them. They arrived on time Wed. morning to start their work of removing the old water heater. The job took several hours to complete since they were rather through. Initially the water heater they brought had a dent in it, so they quickly brought another one. Since the old water heater was not up to code, they had to do several things to bring it into compliance, which added about $350 to the cost. This included adding a fresh air vent, WAGS (Water and Gas Safety) valve, and installing a drain pan. They had mentioned that it would cost about $350 extra bringing it up to code when giving us the estimate so we were prepared for this. Once they finished installing the water heater and hooking it up, they cleaned up and left. All in all it went well and I would use them again since I feel they did a quality job and the hot water doesn't take long to run from the faucets anymore.

First off, Suzy and Amber were very professional and polite. I spoke with Misty yesterday and today, she is very rude. When I spoke to Suzy on Monday it was in regards to two of our properties; one that had flooded and we needed to know why? and the other was for a backed up toilet. She was absolutely wonderful and made me feel that this was the perfect company to call. Unfortunately, myself, my company, my property owner, and my tenants are not at the least bit happy. My owner turned down the work to be done on one property, because they were already charging 120.00 per hour, plus for what they felt needed to be done immediately was going to cost an additional 485.00. Unbelievable expensive service. And as for the other property to fix a toilet it would cost about $285.11 plus labor! Rediculously expensive, and I am sorry but if you are going to spend astronomical amount of money, you should at least receive a good, positve attitude from emplyoees. After all they are not the one's trying to convince their owners that they are getting a great deal by using them. Very unhappy!!!

It took them 2 1/2 hours to do the check. It was a great experience. They gave me good options and they got the work done and gave me a report.
