my 12 year old water had been having issue - basically only about 5 minutes of hot water. so after the first company I called didn't even show up, I call baker brothers late in the afternoon - they were here the next morning on time @9am - and finished the job @noon. they did a great job - will definitely use them for any of my plumbing problems in the future.

They sent someone out on the Saturday after Thanksgiving to locate my leak and the leak repair was begun on Monday. Due to how deep my line was under the slab (2 1/2 - 3 feet vs. the usual 1 -1 1/2 feet), they needed to return the next day to complete the work. Dwayne was extremely helpful. He managed to just go into an area through my slate floor and only messed with 4 tiles. The leak was actually under my Pergo flooring, but we wanted to avoid having to replace all of the flooring. He actually was at one point dangling upside down from the slate floor to avoid having to go into the Pergo. So thanks Dwayne for taking the extra time. Very professional and helpful.

Two plumbers arrived and listened to my description of the problem. After examining the situation, they offered me three possible solutions to the problem. I opted for just replacing the seats and stems. While one plumber did the replacement, the other installed the shut-off valves, making quick work of the overall repairs.
Description of Work: The seat and stem for the hot water to my tub needed to be replaced. I also asked for shut-off valves to be installed at pipes leading to the tub. The shut-off valve installation was the pricier part of the work.

The employee was on time or perhaps a little early. He was friendly and dressed neatly. I feel the charge for repairing the two toilets was way too high. It took less than 10 minutes to repair the toilets but 20 minutes or more for him to write up a contract so I would know the charge for the work. He does this sort of thing all the time and should have been able to give a ball park figure before writing up the service agreement. Rather than waiting for another plumber I agreed to the price. I won't use them again.
Description of Work: I had two toilets that need the metal floats replaced. The repairs were simply replacing metal with two Fluidmasters. At $178 each seems awfully high.

Chris was here a little early. He was wearing an immaculate uniform and put something down on the floor beneath the sink that he was working on. He advised me on some ways to save some money on the job he was doing. I thought that a faucet needed to be replaced, he advised me not to as it was not a problem and it would be very expensive to fix--he tightened it and that fixed the small leak he had. When he left, you couldn't even tell he was here. I would certainly call them again.

I was not happy with the work. The gentleman, Gregory, who came out, did the flush out, and the he tried to sell me on my leaking toilet. He kept saying I needed to have toilet repair and tried to up sell me on more repairs, and not just the work he was there to do. He also tried to sell me additional products. It turned out to be a lot more expensive then I thought it was going to be based on the last time they came out and did some drain work for me.
Description of Work: They cleared the main linme that goes to the washer and bathroom on the west side of the house. When the washer drained, it was backing up into the shower.

We noticed this job was done over a year ago, and since the member signed the acceptance clause stating she was satisfied, we were not aware she wasn't happy. In consideration for the homeowner, our plumbers are trained to review with them any additional plumbing issues they discover. A leaking toilet can not only cause additional damage, but be quite costly due to the loss of water. Given the history of her lines, our plumber mentioned a product designed to keep build up from clogging them in the future, saving her additional cost. Most important, the job was under warranty and we would have been more than happy to return and correct any work-related issues at no charge.

They gave me a day and time and they never showed up and didn't call. When I called, they said there was no record of me, my phone call or my appointment. When I tried to set up another appointment they gave me a vague time this evening and said they would only be able to call 30 minutes in advance. Since I had been waiting since 3:00 this afternoon, I was unable to wait any longer.

We have searched our records and have not been able to locate the information Ms. Guzman mentioned in her comment. Baker Brothers appreciates the opportunity to provide service to all consumers in our community. We were happy to try to accommodate her by sending a technician later that day, but apparently this did not work with her schedule. We regret any inconvenience she experienced if it was related to a lack of communication on our part.

It took them 12 hours to fix my drain. I was very upset about this.
Description of Work: I had them fix my drain. They told me they didn't make a part I wanted in PVC, but when I went to the hardware store I found the exact part. The second guy who came out had to go to the store 3 times to get a part, then finally got the right part.

In our last conversation with member he thanked us for everything we had done, told us he was satisfied, requested we send him information on a tankless water heater and our Family Plan membership, and said he wanted to use us for some additional work. Since he felt he had been inconvenienced to some extent previously, we also reimbursed him for his time and trouble. In light of all of this, we were very surprised to see this negative review on Angie's List. Customer satisfaction is important to us and every effort was made to meet member's expectations.

Technician David B. showed up on time and promptly started to work. He gave me an estimate to diagnose the problem and once the problem was diagnosed he gave me an estimate for the repair. David completed the repair in a timely manner and cleaned up everything, which has not been my experience with plumbers in the past. After he left I went to the upstairs bathroom to collect laundry and realized that the toilet was continually running. I looked outside and David was still in front of my home so I knocked on his window and told him the problem and he cheerfully agreed to check it out. He grabbed the part from his truck that he suspected was the problem and it was and installed it and did not charge me an extra dime. I will most certainly be calling Baker Bros. for all of my future plumbing needs and will request David if he is available.

We noticed the front yard had turned into a swamp when, while mowing, the mower sank into the ground and couldn't be pushed through! Called Baker Brother's and scheduled appointment. Plumber arrived on time, estimated cost of job quickly, and immediately began work. Job took about 2 1/2 hours. It was a very hot day an he had to dig a huge hole to get to the leak. He cleaned up the job site completely before he left.

I contacted this company based upon the reviews I read. My problem occurred on a Sunday and nobody was there to get the call. I have no problem with that, but I left a message and requested a return call the next day, Monday. It's been 5 days and I still have not heard from them. Fortunately I also called another company on Sunday who not only had someone there to answer the call, but also scheduled an appointment for the next day and were there on time. They got my business.

Joe arrived early and was completely professional from the start. I had ordered the toilet online and the tank was broken during delivery. He informed me of this as he was installing and assisted me in getting the broken tank in my car to take back to Home Depot. He said he would come back whenever I wanted to complete the install once I had exchanged out the tank. He was back an hour later and completed the rest of the job in 5 minutes. I was impressed at his courtesy plus the fact that, at the door, he put on booties over his shoes to protect my carpet. Great job.

Having used Baker Brothers in the past, I called when guests using my guest room noticed water leaking from the shower to the other side of the wall into the bedroom. A "technician" arrived on time, took a quick look, and announced that it was a shower pan leak. To repair, he would need to remove the shower doors and tile, replace the shower pan and then retile the shower and reinstall the doors. As for the bedroom, he said that the damaged portions of the wall and hardwood floors should be replaced. He then quoted me what I thought was a high price for the plumbing and tile work. So far, nothing too disturbing other than the price and his somewhat flippant attitude. But then he suggested that I turn the shower back on and let it run for awhile so that the damage to the hardwood floor would be greater and I could get a new floor for the whole room rather than repair of the small damaged area. Needless to say, I did not hire Baker Brothers for this repair and I don't expect to use them again. I believe this fellow was advocating insurance fraud at the worst and dishonest behavior at best. If he would cheat the insurance company, why wouldn't he cheat me?

the gas leak was detected over a weekend. baker bros. came out the following tues and told us the work would cost approx $2500 and take approx 2 days with a start day of wed. the workers came on time to dig the old line out, working approx 3 hrs. the actual work on the line didn't begin until thurs and wasn't finished until the following thurs with our home being without heat for the entire time. the workers who replaced the landscaping didn't replace the flagstones correctly resulting in the work having to be redone ourselves. the total bill came to over $4000. the reason behind writing this report today is that we just discovered that they also cut the lines to our yard irrigation system resulting in having to hire someone else to repair the wiring. this service is costing us more on top of what baker bros charged.
Description of Work: they came and located a gas leak, dug yard, replaced gas pipe. they also located a sewage leak from the kitchen which they repaired.

Unfortunately, we were never contacted by the member regarding her claim we cut the lines to her yard irrigation system. If that was the case, Baker Brothers would have reacted immediately by repairing the lines. As far as the gas and sewer repairs, prices and the scope of work were listed and the authorization to proceed signed by the homeowner. The repair time was two days but the extended time was due to the inspection from the city. Once approved, the city contacts the gas company to authorize turning the gas back on. It was not until after we had completed the work, that the member advised us she couldn’t pay us in full, and told us it would be at her discretion as to how much and when she paid. To date, we still carry a considerable outstanding balance on this job. We might mention our records reflect the price of the repairs was several hundred dollars less than the homeowner stated in her report. We certainly care about and value our customers. Given the situation, we believe the facts reflect that we certainly extended ourselves on behalf of the client in this instance.

The above price is after a senior discount was applied. We had 2 small leaks! We can start at the beginning: 1. He parked in the street completely blocking the drive so I could not get out. 2. He was neat. 3. He was quietly angry. 4. Even though there is a Lowes 5 blocks from my house, he had to go to Home Depot to pick - up what appeared to be a large washer. I am sorry but I do not like to pay for an hour doing that, which is exactly how long it took. 5. When he drove away from the house, he left a small array of trash from the van in the gutter. This just was not the honeymoon that many of the responders described. away. I am sorry but I have a hard time paying for a 1 hour trip to buy what amounted to a large washer. 5. The price was very high. 6. And when he drove off he left some trash from his van in the gutter. This was definately not the honeymoon that many described of their experience.

Our technician provided the homeowners with prices on three options to repair the faucet leak. 1) replacement, 2) repairing it with us providing the parts, or 3) repair it with the homeowner providing the parts. The homeowner opted for number two. The process is that the homeowner is given the price beforehand, and there is no additional charge for the time technicians take to get parts. As it turned out, the washer in the repair kit we installed on the initial call was defective. On June 14th we returned with a completely new Delta kit and the repair was successful. We contacted the homeowner on June 16th and the member stated he was satisfied and would talk to his spouse about amending their report. We very much appreciate them allowing us the opportunity to correct the problem, and hope they will continue to use us as their plumber of choice.

They already have you before they walk in the door with a $39.99 service call fee so you're already out $40. I should have stopped here and not proceeded. The first guy that showed up was a slob, didn't put on shoe protectors and did do either repair correct. The toilet still leaked and the pea trap leaked after he "replaced it"; also, he just left the old parts on the sink, that was pretty gross. Also, he smelled like an ashtray when he came back in our home after writing out a "bid". The second guy that showed up was very professional and fixed the repairs that the other guy wasn't able to. I would probably have a different opinion if he would have showed up in the first place. He also seemed like he would have given me a fair price. After consulting with a couple of other plumbers and handymen I got totally ripped off by this company. I'm pretty new to homeownership and didn't know the pricing. Also, having to meet the second plumber the second day that cost me lost wages since I'm hourly. Oh, and the funny thing, when I called to say nothing was working she actually said she'd send the same guy back out...needless to say I wasn't going to have him back in our home.

I called about 10:00 a.m. after trying to get two other plumbers from Angie's List. The woman I spoke to was very nice and even sympathetic to my situation. She said someone could come out the same afternoon. She explained that the plumber would determine the problem and tell me how much it would cost. If I approved, he would proceed with the repair. She called about 30 minutes before the plumber's arrival to let me know he was on his way (only three hours after my initial call). The plumber noted the brand and immediately recognized it as a quality product. He discovered that the seal that is part of the newer model (that provides quiet operation) was not properly attached in the back of the disposer. He was apologetic, because he had to charge for an hour of labor. I was happy to pay it. However, I used the coupon on the Angie's List page and received 10% off. He quickly attached the disposer, and now it works great. No leaks! I will definitely call them again.
Description of Work: I needed a disposer reinstalled after my contractor's handyman botched the job. The contractor told me it was a defective disposer. I knew it wasn't because it had been working perfectly before I had the kitchen counters and sink replaced. Now the sink was leaking.

In January, a toilet hose broke in the master bathroom and flooded our one-story home. As a follow-up to the incident, our insurance company sent out Baker Brothers to do a pressure check on all of the plumbing. They discovered a large leak in the tub connection in a little-used guest bathroom. Because it was rarely used, we were unaware that the connection from the bathtub pipes to the sewer was losing 50% of the water passing through it. Left unaddressed, it had the potential for creating foundation problems. We were very pleased to find out about the problem and were given an estimate of the cost to repair it. After we confirmed with an engineer that we did not need any foundation work, the insurance company approved us engaging a company to repair the leak. Since the cost was less than our deductible, we were free to choose any company. Under other circumstances, we would have used our regular plumber. Instead, we chose to use Baker Brothers because they were prompt, courtesy, professional and were able to clearly explain the problem and estimate the cost. When I called to set an appointment, the agent mentioned they were running a special of $150 off the price if I booked that day. I did and received the discount when it was time to pay. The two plumbers arrived on time, were very careful removing the debris (about 8 buckets of broken concrete), completed the repair, replaced the soil, and applied the quick-set concrete. I appreciated them taking the time to show me what was wrong and how they had fixed it. While they were there, I had also asked that they repair a dripping faucet. They identified which of the faucets was causing the leak and made a second trip to the hardware store for a hard-to-find part, Due to the age of the faucet, they replaced both gaskets so that I wouldn't have problems later on. The extra service cost $154 (including parts) so the discount offered almost covered the cost of the second repair. If we had hired our regular plumber, it would have cost about $80 including parts. Their service is a little more expensive but it was definitely worth the money for the large repair.
Description of Work: Replacement of leaking pipes under the house. This required breaking through the cement in the hallway and digging about three feet down to reach the connection.

The plumber, David, was fantastic. He arrived at the very beginning of the "time window" that the company had given me, and provided a price quote after looking at the problems for about 10 or 15 minutes. Even though he had to do MORE work than expected (cutting into the wall for diagnostics, cleaning some drain out), he did not charge me for that work. Overall, I was extremely pleased.
Description of Work: Baker Brothers repaired a leaky outdoor faucet, as well as fixed the water pressure in a bathtub. The water pressure issue was much more complicated than originally thought, so the plumber went into my wall to locate and diagnose the problems.

They have a service call fee of about $39 and wanted to charge me over $200 to just change the flushing mechanism. They claim they offer free estimates, but they are not really free. They will charge you the $39+ to come out even if you choose not to go with them. But they will apply the $39+ to the price of the work. This would be okay if the fees were reasonable, but they are quite steep. Note that they are located within 5 miles of my house.

They were on time, professional and fast. Ok, so they are not as cheap as a guy on Craigslist, BUT they were worth every penny. The work was done great and they cleaned up their own mess.
