I have been with them for three years. I choose them because of their expertise. The tankless systems are little challenging to put in as replacement. I had several companies come out and said they couldn't do the work or didn't wanted to work. I really wanted to go tankless and they came out and did that. They have a preferred customer program so I pay a small fee each month to guarantee that if there is an emergency I'm first in their queue. Every time their guy show up they are in uniform, very courteous, and all know their trade and fixed it right at the first time. I would use them again.
Description of Work: I used Baker Brothers Plumbing. The replaced an outside waterbed that was leaking. They also installed our tankless water heater system.

took care of the problem, and I appreciate that they could have charged me to replace the valve, but didn't (which would have been very expensive). I forgot to give the plumber the 10% off coupon (from Angieslist) until after I had paid for it, but was told that that would be taken care of by the office - will see if that happens.
Description of Work: check water pressure valve that was installed 3 yr. ago, because water pressure was too low and could not be adjusted. Found that valve had calcium or other deposits that had caused it to not work properly. Plumber was going to write estimate to either bypass or replace valve (which would have been very expensive), but just moved the valve in and out a few times and freed it up so that it now seems to be working properly again. Maybe I'm nieve, but I was surprised at being charged 212.50, since I was told that it would be about $40 for the service call and he was here for less than an hour. I was told that it was for diagnostics. Gentleman was very nice, courteous, and I felt he did a good job of telling me what the problem was - just surprised by the overall cost.

Terrible. After Tamara with Baker Bros. responded that she would like to help me with my complaint, I contacted her by phone. She said this happened so long ago she really couldn't do anything about it. I should add that when I checked back to my records, the company charged me $39.50 instead of $25.00 to do nothing when another plumber came out and installed my tub without any problem whatsoever. This company seems to be all about what it CAN'T do rather than what it can do for you. I would strongly suggest you look elsewhere for a plumber.
Description of Work: Asked the to come and install new Jacuzzi tub to drain and install new faucet for the tub. Tub had been framed in per instructions with tub and on the Jacuzzi website. The Plumber and his assistant told me that the tub had been framed in incorrectly and that he would be unable to connect the drain or install the faucet. He charged me $25 for his opinion, and told me that if I had any other information, that possibly they could come back out to do the job for me (and apply the $25 toward that repair). I contacted Jacuzzi and told them about my experience, and they told me that it sounded as if I had gotten a "lazy plumber" (their words). I forwarded sections of the Jacuzzi installation instructions which verified that the tub had been framed in correctly to Baker Brothers. When I didn't hear back from them, I contacted another plumber and scheduled an appointment for them to do the install. Subsequently, Baker Bros. contacted me by phone to say that they had received my e-mail with the Jacuzzi instructions, and that it looked like they could in fact install the drain and faucet as I had wanted them to. I informed them that I had contacted another plumber and I would get back with Baker Brothers only if that plumber didn't work out. The other plumber, Peterbilt Plumbing, came on time and very efficiently and professionally connected the drain and installed the faucet. I have had absolutely no problems with their work and used them again this past year to install/move a shower drain. They are incredibly fair and reasonable, as well as competent. I would recommend them highly. I would NOT recommend Baker Brothers. They still have my $25. They wear booties if that's important to you.

The tech was on time, explained all procedures and the options, completed all work in a timely fashion and cleanup was complete to the point we wouldn't have even known he had been there. The tech was a friendly and courteous professional. We chose this company based on the previous positive reviews and grades, and we're very happy with the results.

Overall, I was very happy. My only concern was that the price was a little high but that is to be expected from one of the larger companies that is available same day. The plumber was very professional, clean and gave me some pointers to keep the drain clean in the future. He also gave me an estimate for a new water heater at my request. I would use them again for any quick jobs but I would probably get several estimates for any larger jobs.
Description of Work: I had a sink drain and shower drain cleared that had been slow to drain for some time. Plumber gave me an estimate before hand that ended up being the actual cost. I thought the price was slightly high to have two drains cleared but they were able to come out same day and the work was done in about 30 mins. so I was okay with it.

It went very well. I kinda suckes to have a leak, but they took care of it quickly and with professionalism.
Description of Work: I had a foundation pipe leak. The plumber amazed me with his ability to pin point the locatoin of the leak and was able egress to the pipe without damaging any of the surrounding areas. He cut a hole in the foundation, fixed the leak, and was able to patch the hole with ease.

Called a couple of places. Pricing about the same. I liked the 8 yr parts and labor as part of the deal. Had a Pro series 50 gal Rheem installed. Josh and his sidekick were great. They explained the process from start to finish and answered all of my questions until completion.
Description of Work: Replaced 17yr old gas water heater before it decided to go and flood our new flooring. They had to bring it up to the latest plumbing codes with a drain pan, expansion tank, gas line trap, quick disconnect for the pop off line, and cut off valves for both hot and cold lines. I'd recommend them to anyone based on my experience.

Our shower drain backed up and after several attempts to unclog it I finally called Baker Bros. Even though it was on a weekend they had someone there within an hour. He located the clog in an area I could not have reached by using a tiny camera, and was able to unclog it quickly from outside the house.

We had a leak in a pipe approx 6" from the water main. We also had a water heater that wasn't heating. The repairman punched the reset button on the water heater which resolved that problem, then went out to inspect the leak. After digging he came back and said it would cost over $800 to fix it. He said it was PVC pipe so it would take thirty minutes to cure, and he said it would be hard to dig because of a tree that was close to the site. I told him that was nuts and asked how much it would cost if we did the digging. He said probably 300 or 400, but changed it to over $600 after talking to his supervisor. I paid him $40 for the trip since I wasn't going to pay for that service. (I felt it was worth it since he had showed me the reset button on the water heater) Then I got the job done by someone else for less than $200. It took under an hour for two men to dig it out and repair it. I will never consider Baker Bros again,

My 13 year old water heater (installed by a big-box company) started to leak (drip) last night, so I knew it was time for a new one - and quickly. I called Baker Brothers at 7:15 AM to get a plumber out to install a new water heater. The scheduler said she can get a plumber to my house between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM. I agreed to the proposed time and I told the scheduler that I had a 50 gallon natural gas water heater in the garage. The scheduler said the trip charge will be $39, but will be waived if I decided to buy. I considered the $39 very reasonable to compensate them for their time and gasoline if I decided not to take their offer. The plumber (Mark M.) arrived promptly at 9:50 AM and was very professional, put shoe covers on before entering my house and then went to my garage to look at the old water heater. Mark said the installation was fairly straight forward with no code challenges. Mark then went back out to his truck to draft the written quotes with different options. Mark gave me two options: a 50 gallon Rheem gas water heater with either a 8 year or a 12 year warranty - the main difference being an additional anode rod installed to extend the warranty to 12 years. The total cost (materials, labor and tax) of the 8 year was $1372.40 and the 12 year was $1690.30. In addition, they also extended me a $50 discount off each of these prices. I opted for the 12 year, which was model # 22V50PROF. The prices also include pulling a city permit, which Baker Brothers handles themselves. Mark had the water heater already on his truck and started work immediately by driving his truck around to my garage. It took Mark nearly 2.5 hours to complete the job - he was very meticulous. Compared to my previous water heater installation, the Baker Brothers installation looked MUCH more professional and neat. Mark took-away the old water heater and cleaned-up the entire work area including wiping-down the outside of the water heater and plumbing connections making them shine. Mark arranged for a city inspector to come-out on Thursday next week to inspect the job - as required by city code. Note about the Baker Brothers 12 year warranty: Big plus: The warranty is not prorated over the 12 years - that means (for example) if the water heater starts leaking in the 11th year, you get a complete new water heater for free - material and labor included ! Baker Brothers price was likely not the cheapest one out there, but their quality, professionalism, excellent warranty and very prompt service was absolutely worth it ! They also follow city code and pull the required permits. They've also been in business a long time and that is very important to me. If I have any future plumbing jobs around the house, Baker Brothers is going to get my business ! UPDATE: When the water heater was installed, Baker Brothers stated they will file for a City Permit the same day and a City inspector will come out one week later (7/5/2012) to inspect the installation - as required by City code. Fortunately I called the City to check on the inspector's estimated time of arrival only to find they didn't file for a permit at all. I immediately called Baker Brothers and Baker Brothers (Gayla) apologized for the error and immediately filed with the City for a permit and an inspection the next day (7/6/2012). I called the City on the morning of 7/6/2012 and confirmed my inspection appointment was made by Baker Brothers. The City inspector arrived on 7/6/2012 and the job passed City inspection.
Description of Work: Remove old 50 gallon gas water heater and install new 50 gallon gas water heater with a 12 year warranty in the garage. Also included was a new gas line whip and a gas line drip leg was installed. Haul-away old water heater and clean-up job site. As required by City code, Baker Brothers was required to file for a city permit.

This immediate problem was fixed without too much trouble and they would receive a good grade for the general plumbing work. The cost up to this point was about what you would expect. The backup into the tub had what looked like dirt in the bottom of it so we were worried about a break in the drain line under the slab. He did not see any dirt on his equipment as he unclogged the drain, however he would run a camera to be sure. We only had an old-type clean out that went toward the street--not into the house--so he could not run a camera into the house from that clean out. He was not able to get a camera down the drain from the roof vent either. The solution we were given was to install a new clean out which went into the house as well as out to the street for $994 and do some other kind of testing to see if water was leaking from the pipe for another $284. We would only know there was a leak, not where it was. He didn't seem to think he could run a camera through the new clean out to look. We used another plumber who installed the clean out for $450, ran a camera down the new line and discovered we did not have a break. The total cost was $600.00. Basic plumbing work and cost seems to be acceptable, but for more difficult problems, the cost is too high and knowledge base is shaky.
Description of Work: BB was called out to fix a clogged drain with backup into the guest bathroom tub. Since there had been what looked like dirt in the tub, he would run a camera in the drain to see if there was a break under the slab . The unclogging and using the camera cost $239.

The toilet that they replaced was not installed correctly. He corrected the previous problems that were there and then installed the new toilet. He took time to explain the choices that I had. He did the job quickly and well. The are always on time, clean, and professional. They do a great job of cleaning up after themselves. They always have clean cut and professional employees that ware uniforms. They even call when they are on the way. I feel that the prices are very reasonable. They give a detailed estimate for their work. They even give alternate solutions or cheaper solutions for repairs. If they aren't sure about something they always tell me.

We had another, smaller plumbing company come to fix the toilet about 3 months ago, spent $100 and it wasn't fixed, spent another $40 on a second trip and it still wasn't fixed. We were so frustrated that we lived with it for the next few months, using a plunger every time we used the toilet! I reported that experience earlier to Angies list. Then we planned a party and decided we needed a working toilet, and decided to call Baker Brothers Plumbing. The plumber came on time, wore covers on his shoes, flushed the toilet once, then got a bucket and poured water into the toilet to confirm his diagnosis and told us our toilet was worn out, we needed a new one. He gave us some pricing options, all of which were more than I had hoped to pay, and we chose a toilet that wasn't 'top of the line' but a good, quality toilet. I felt no pressure from the plumber to choose one over another. I believe that about half of the expense was the toilet, and half was the installation. He earned his money on the installation - under the toilet was an offset base, loose because of some rot under the toilet. He advised me of the problem, did a great job of finding an alternate way to secure the base, then installed the toilet. Worked for close to two hours on the installation. Was very focused, polite and professional. I'll use this company again exclusively.
Description of Work: Called him to repair a toilet that wasn't flushing correctly, he said it needed to be replaced and we had him replace it. Our home is 72 years old and the toilet was at least 20 years old.

Excellent work by Baker Brother's plumber Saul. The cold water valve for the washing machine hookup was not functioning and he suggested the hot water valve be replaced too because it was of the same cheap builder quality as the one that was broken. Saul worked diligently and had all of the parts he needed in his truck. I appreciated the neat and precise work and that he wore disposable shoe covers to keep my floors clean. I have used Baker Brothers in the past and always get excellent results. They are not the cheapest plumbing company but their work is quality and you get what you pay for. I would definately recommend Baker Brothers and will use them again.

So i have just moved in. I have been unpacking since morning. I was very tired and then i noticed that my sink in master bath is leaking. I also any way needed a new connection for my gas dryer and i noticed they do gas work as well so i decided to call baker brothers. They were responsive and punctual i will give them that. Once the person arrived then the fun started.I had two vent in utility room so i asked can i use the one behind the dryer (This one comes out in the drive way) while the other one comes out in the roof . I did not know why previous owners was using one not the other one. He advised sure he can just move itand i will know if the vent is bad because dryer won't dry and there will be no permanent harm. Also he told me it would beabout 300 dollars to install the new connection. Now my previous installation of gas dryer in tampa was about $115 so my suspicion started forming. Then came the master bath sink. Tech told me that if i choose their faucets there will be no installation charges butif i buy from lowes/home-depot it would be 200$ installation charge. The cheapest faucet he has was $316.62. Finally he gave me the written estimates. Total was 1735.34. Here was the break down. - Connect new Gas Dryer $273.10- Install new Shut off valve $185.12- Dishwasher Electrical $373.88- A pair of new Faucets $316.62 X 2 = $633.24- Emergency stops of supply $300.00 When i said this is too much and i am being charged too much and some of the item looks double why is there a install shut off valve charge and a install gas dryer charge. And same way for faucets. He did not give me any reasonable explanation. But he started with the car salesmen trick. He can take out the "$185.12" Charge of gas shut off valve by himself but he need to speakto his manager for removing $300 off the Shut off valve in sink. Now this is $485.12 discount off of $1735.34 estimate about 30 %(exact 27.95%) which is a very large discount if they are fair prices. But i decided lets get a second opinion andpaid the man $39 for the visit and said Good Bye. Again i have to say he was professional and courteous. I have no trouble at that front but i think price was too unreasonable. Even if plumber hourly charge is higher than the handymen it should not be 4 times. My final bill to get all this done was $430 (260 in labor and 170 in material).
Description of Work: After my move into new house i noticed there was a leak under the sink in my master bath. Also my gas dryer and diswasher was not installed. So i decided to give them a call. Since they were highly rated on angies list. I needed to get following 3 items done. - Fix Leak in Master Bath Sink - Install dishwasher. - Install Gas Dryer. (The connection in utility room did not match with the gas dryer connection so needed a new connection. The estimate was $1735.34. So i decided not to get the work done. Just paid the 39 dollars for the visit and said the Good Bye.

Baker Brothers came out that night and replaced the heater and gave us suggestions to ensure we passed the city code compliance inspection. We added the vents to the water heater closet door before the inspector came out and the heater passed with flying colors. Baker Brothers' installation price was fair considering the time of day and all. I would recommend these guys.
