Everyone: Do NOT go to any plumbers other than Baker Brothers!!!! From start to finish, you could tell they were proud and dedicated to the job at hand, and we threw them a doozy!!!! Not ONE of the people working on our plumbing, "passed the buck" (as they say) to anyone else. They were professional and took pride in every aspect of the job. We cannot praise this company enough!
Description of Work: We did not have hot water and it was a strange example, as the sewer water mixed with the regular water, so you can imagine what a procedure this was.

Nick came out on time and was very professional. He determined we needed a new water heater. Initially we decided on a tankless system but after my husband and I discussed it further we decided to replace it with a tank heater. Nick had already left but came back hat night and replaced the heater. He was very professional and had no issue with coming back and that we had changed our mind. About 3 hours after the water heater was replaced we still did not have hot water. Nick came back out first thing the next morning. We determined that there was a leak in a hot water line. Nick was very good at determine where the leak was and getting everything fixed. This was definitely a stressful experience but nicks professionalism and upbeat attitude help us deal with it much better.

Baker Brothers is extraordinary! If you were to Google search "awesome customer service", their name should come up first. If you've gotten use to being at the mercy of your current plumbing company, ditch their phone number and call Baker Brothers first! Just before noon on Friday, my hot water heater went out. I called the plumbing company I'd been using for years. They were apathetic and felt no urgency. They said no appoints were available that day and the soonest they could come out would be Tuesday. Five days of cold showers! I was more than distraught. Then, I recalled commercials I'd heard for Baker Brothers and checked Angie's List. When I called them, the woman who answered the phone (sorry I can't recall her name) was very cheerful and asked me how she could improve my day. I told her my situation and she said they would send someone out as soon as one of their teams completed the job they were on. Twenty minutes later I received a call that someone would be at my house in 30 -40 minutes. Within 15 minutes I received a call that they were on their way. Cody and Corbin arrived, gave me a quote and went to work. They were courteous, neat and clean, respected my house and were well prepared for the job. They completed the job in about 3 hours and apologized for the length on time it took. Last time I had the water heater replaced it took twice the time. Later that day I received a call from the same woman that booked the appointment to see if I was satisfied. Then I received a Thank You card from them. It's me who should be sending them a Thank You! Baker Brothers is not only in my iPhone contact list but is tagged as a Favorite.

Required two trips as there was standing water under the house. Plumbers waited until the water had drained into the soil, but it was still very muddy when they made their repairs. They were prepared for this and there was no mess in the house.

I called to schedule an estimate for a tankless water heater installation. I was informed the company wanted to charge me $75.00 just to come out and give me an estimate. I was extremely taken aback, i have never met a salesman that charged somebody for his time, I wish i was so lucky in my day job. It went downhill from there. I then told them if they werent going to come give me an accurate quote, then quote me for a unit with the following parameters: 1. Outside installation on a wall that has the current gas/water connections and electrical and requires zero venting work 2. 9.5GPM Unit 3. Existing natural gas supply lines for high powered unit I was then told that basic package would cost $3,500 and include one day of work. I was floored. I can order a Rinnai 98 model with 9.8gpm flow for $1,100 delivered. I am assuming Bakers can procure the tank much cheaper than i can. After deducting $1,000 for the tank and $500 for miscellaneous parts (permit, natural gas lines, copper supply lines), that implies$2,000 for labor. TWO THOUSAND!!! for eight hours of work, if that!!!!! Thats $250.00 per hour!!!! This is ludicrous! The sales rep says they dont break it down because its unfair to. Sure...its unfair for Baker's customers to know they are being charging exorbitant rates. I am all for paying a fair market rate for labor, but $250/hour I am apalled. I wish more consumers would push back on these egregious practices.

We do apologize that the member was upset with his service experience. I pulled the Job Call Information and saw where he had called in for an issue with his garbage disposal, upstairs tub draining slow and mater bath toilet. Our technicians are trained to address all of the Member’s concerns when they arrive at their home. The tehcnicians are paid by the hour and are not commissioned based , therefore, they do not have anything to gain by trying to “upsale” the service. We understand that the member can purchase the parts and do the repairs himself, for a much cheaper rate. However, we offer trained and licensed technicians that have been drug screened and background checked. We also, have liability insurance should anything happen at the Member’s home during the service. We have the best warranties around and offer 100% customer satisfaction. We are happy that the member was able to take care of the issues with the stoppage and toilet himself. We do hope that he’ll reconsider using our services in the future for issues that he can’t resolve himself.

It went fine until the new faucet that we bought was defective so we had to go to Lowe's to get a replacement part. The best thing about the plumber was that he agreed to come back and finish the install so that we didn't have to schedule another service appointment. We were very appreciative of that.

He did excellent work. He was very prompt and courteous. He did everything in a timely manner. They also called for a follow up to make sure everything was okay, which was very nice. I hired them not knowing that they were a member of Angie's List, so I don't know if the price would have been cheaper if I had known.

The job turned out to be a bit more complicated than the provider had originally expected. Codes had changed, and the new heater was also bigger than the original, so some carpentry and ducting work was needed. The provider completed all the work in an entirely satisfactory manner, kept our kitchen looking good (in spite of new ducts), and stayed within the original estimate. We're very happy with the work!
Description of Work: The provider wrote up an estimate and installed a new water heater in our kitchen. We bought the house with a 40-gallon tank installed in a complex cabinet assembly (very visible) in the kitchen, and when it failed, the provider's estimate seemed the most reasonable.

Please give me a call. I would love to discuss this issue with you. I pulled the work order and saw where we ran the camera from the roof vent to the City tie in. The technician stated that he got mud on the camera and that there may be a possible break in the line. I see where he had given options to install two way clean outs and to perform a sewer test, in order to find out what the issue was. Again, my name is Tamara and I would love to discuss this with you. We definitely want to do whatever we can to retain you as a happy customer. I can be reached at 214-324-8811, Monday through Friday, between 8:00 and 5:00.

The job took three days. A number of men were involved. All work was done neatly and efficiently. Plenty of communication and follow up. I couldn't be more pleased!
Description of Work: In the process of doing foundation repair we discovered a very difficult-to-repair plumbing leak in our crawl space. Not a gusher, but just a steady drip that was accumulating. It involved some very large piping and was located in a very difficult spot under the house.

Below is a description of a bad experience we had with the company. Since this happened, I notified the owner about everything, and he gave us a full refund, free repairs to our floor and wall, and an extended warranty. Along with a sincere apology--in person. Mistakes were made, but I must say that they held themselves accountable, and have done everything possible to try to "make it right." Here's the lowdown: After reading the reviews on Angie's List, we called Baker Brothers when we heard the sound of water running with no faucets actually on. Joe from the Fort Worth office arrived on Jan. 8 and told us he was certain it was a slab leak. Price to detect leak location: about $300 (later discounted 15% after we agreed to join their "Family Plan"). We agreed to the price, he detected the leak location and agreed to return on Jan. 11 to begin repairs. (This involves jackhammering into the foundation, digging until they find the pipe location, removing the bad pipe and repairing with new materials). Joe from the Fort Worth office, and a helper, returned on Jan. 11 and found the leak, later showing us the damaged pipe. In the afternoon, they left to ?go to the office to get some soft copper? and said they would return later. We have copper pipes, so it made sense they would use copper for the repairs. Joe and helper returned, repaired the leak (I thought), filled the hole with dirt, sealed it with cement and left. Cost for the repair was an additional $1,257 (discounted 15% due to the ?Family Plan.)? A short time later, we had the bathroom completely retiled (existing tile no longer manufactured). Three days after the retiling, I heard the running water sound again. The leak was back. I called Baker Brothers on Friday, Feb. 15 and was told they would send someone that afternoon. Hours later, Joe called and said ?It sounds like it?s coming from the same place. There is nothing I can do about it today. I will return first thing Monday.? Monday morning I received a call that Joe had called in sick. I asked if there was someone else they could send, as we were without hot water. ?I will speak to a manager and call you back. An hour later, no call back, so I called again. I was told ?I?m sorry, Joe is the only one who can fix it. You are on the schedule for first thing Tuesday." Tuesday morning I receive a call that Joe is still sick. I reiterate that we are without hot water. "Can you please send someone else?" Response: "Let me let you speak to Joe?s supervisor, Craig." I wait on hold for Craig for several minutes. I am told ?Craig is still on another call. I will speak with a manager and call you back.? Again, no call back. An hour later, the doorbell rings. It is Jonathon from the Dallas office. Jonathon detects the leak (same spot), marks the spot on the floor, and says a repair crew is on their way from Dallas. Manuel and Miguel arrived promptly, brought in the jackhammer, broke through the new floor, dug the hole and found the leak. Manuel showed me the leak and said ?I?m sorry. I don?t know why he repaired it that way.? Manuel told me in no uncertain terms that Joe had used improper materials, that he should have repaired the copper pipe with copper, which we thought he was going to do, but did not. Needless to say, I was devastated that someone would practice such poor workmanship in my home and cause such destruction. Sidenote: Manuel and Miguel were courteous and prompt. Manuel apologized more than once, which I appreciated. But that hardly could undue the damage, both to my house and my stress level. Since the second repair, as mentioned before, several people have apologized for what happened. While it is unfortunate that we drew the short straw in getting Joe and the runaround from the dispatchers, I don't think this reflects on the entire company. They came highly recommended on Angie's list, so clearly others have had wonderful experiences.

Overall, the plumber was very professional and knowledgeable but may have not understood the ease of the job at hand. Although the company was "military vet" friendly but nonetheless overpriced.
Description of Work: Plumber was very professional in every way. The plumbing installation was way over priced and would not consider using in the future due to the pricing. It was a very simple plumbing line installation for a whole house filtration and would have taken about 3 hours. I was able to get it done by a "local" licensed plumber for 1/3 of the quoted price. I do believe that the plumber maybe misunderstood the routing or what was involved in the installation but seemed very knowledgeable overall. I explained how it needed to be done but still received what was an unreasonable quote. Spent unnecessary money. I got the quote from my "local" plumber for FREE. I'll know next time who to go with.

I have used Baker Brothers Plumbing in the past and I felt that they do a very good job. They are very professional and they did what they said they would do. They gave me an estimate and they came in and got it done with very little interaction with me, I didn't need to interact with them. They cleaned up after they were finished and they stayed within the budget that they said they would.

I needed a water pressure unit installed. After hours and hours of pulling together a quote, the job was going to cost more than the unit I purchased. Normally this is a $250 install or less. They wanted Thousands of dollars and wanted to jack hammer my cement slab in my garage. Declined the work. At the same time I wanted a gas feed line replace to my outdoor grill. They didnt have the parts and wanted $175 to do 15 minutes of work. I complained and they reduced the price to $110. I agreed and the tech left to get the parts. 2 hours later he returned and started working on the job. He could not complete the work because he didnt purchase the right part. The tech was a nice guy and I dont blame him but the company procedures and rates are far too expensive. I went with Angies List to ensure I would get quality work at a fair price. This was the opposite. I think Angies List is a waste of money and will cancel.

Response from Baker Brothers Plumbing, Air & Electric
We understand the Member's frustration. However, the water pressure unit the Member had purchased from a different company, is designed to be installed in a basement type application. This would be where the water line is accessible and inside of the structure. The $250.00 bid the Member received was from the company he purchsed the product from and was for the basement installation. The installation without a basement would require excavating the water line, bringing the line up out of the ground and through the brick wall in the garage (where the pump would be installed) and return water line back to the main supply line for the house. With the extent of work that would have had to be done, our bid was higher than the $250.00 bid he received. We were also unable to repair the Member's grill, due to there was an issue with removing an existing part. We would have had to exert extreme pressure to remove it and were afraid that it would have done damage to the grill. Our Technicians are trained to do the jobs the most effecient and effective way to correct the issue. However, from time to time that may run into a job that would cause more damage by trying to replace parts. At that time they have to make the best decision for the Member. We sincerely apologize that we were unable to perform the work the customer requested. If we can be of any further help, please do not hesitate to contact me. The repair took them a short period of time, the plumber was polite and professional. The only issue was the plumber wanted to charge $50 more than the quoted Sunday charge and did not give us the Angie's List "discount" quoted on the Angie's List website. After my wife objected, he took off 10% of the repair charge. We were reasonably satisfied with the outcome and pleased that they had someone available on a Sunday. Yesterday, I experienced a separate problem with a leaky water heater valve and the water overflowed the catch basin and through a ceiling in one of our bedrooms. I shut off the water and gas and called Baker Brothers as I knew from my prior experience they may have a plumber available and again, I had an "emergency" situation. I called and Christy put me on hold for several minutes and then got back on the line and said she would call me back as she was on a long call. After waiting for over an hour for a return call, I gave up and called an Angie's List A rated Dallas area plumber. Given the positive experience I had with this other plumber for whom I will write a very positive review, I cannot recommend Baker Bros and would not use them again. I'm OK if a plumbing company wants to charge more for superior service, but charging more than other plumbers and not returning phone calls is not what I would expect.
Description of Work: I called Baker Brothers on a Sunday. No one answered, so I hung up and moved on. I was happy to get a return call from Christy (sp) and told her my problem and asked to have a plumber at my home on a Sunday. I would pay the quoted Sunday premium as I created a self-inflicted plumbing issue and had the water running as I could not get to the master water shut off for our home.

I can assure you that this is not a normal practice for our Company. On occasion, our Customer Service Representatives may have to take a name and number and call the Customer back. However, it is not acceptable for the CSR to wait an hour before returning a call. We understand that an emergency needs to be taken care of in a timely matter. I will definitely get with the CSR and make sure that she understands the severity of this issue so that it does not happen again. I know this does not help you in your situation and I apologize that you had to experience this. We do take our customer complaints very serious and strive to reach 100 % customer satisfaction. Baker Brothers did service on my Mother-in-Law's clogged drain. Their price was higher than most @ $221 but they were recommended by her friends. They got the clog fixed but about 39 days later it was clogged again. Warranty was 30 days, so they insisted on charging again another $221. Again, more than more charge. 20 plus days later, same issue. This time fixed under warranty. They had also left the cap off the access pipe from the previous job, so they fixed. I can't recommend them based on price and their strict adherence to their warranty time frame.
Description of Work: Baker Brothers did service on my Mother-in-Law's clogged drain. Drain was cleared but needed the same service again just outside the warranty. Then called a third time to clear the same line but this time within the warranty period.

Overall ok, they took longer than expected, than the estimated time given. I paid 1/2 at the start then before the repairs were complete they asked for the additional fee. I called the office and told them was NOT going to pay until the work was complete. They did not leave the property (the yard / ground outside) not in the right condition, did not replace the dirt properly, lost my hose connections. The quality control person (great that they have this service) came out and fixed the ground work and replaced my hose connections. The work they did to repair the leak was fine and have not had anymore problems just can not rate them excellent due to several work related issues.

I have used Baker Brothers in the past and had very good luck with their work service and price. This time the experience was much different. I called to have 3 bathroom faucets installed. They arrived on time as they have in the past. I had the faucets, new water shut offs, and water supply lines that I had already purchased and planned to install but was not able to. I was prepared to have the work done so I really wasn't interested in an estimate. As it appeared customary they started providing a quote. Glad they did. I was quoted 197.00 to install each faucet and 150.00 to replace each water shut off and supply line on 2 sinks all of which I had purchased. I was also quoted 215.00 to replace 1 P-Trap. Total estimate 1209.96 before taxes. I was also told it could be possibly more if they ran into problems. I myself have done the same on 5 other sinks in my house but just not able to do these 3 and I am not a plumber. Very disappointed in their flat rate pricing. I paid their 39.00 trip charge and will not be using or recommending their company. Once again Baker Brothers fails in customer service. Why is it my responsibility to contact Baker Brothers to address my experience. I am the CUSTOMER. If I had a bad experience then I should be contacted by Tamara not the other way around.
