The experience had been good. The technician that they sent was great. He really did a great job. In fact, I asked his name so I can ask for him to come back again. His name was Damian. He was a lot of different things. Their price was fair.

Repair was great and the serviceman was prompt and friendly. Price was a little on the high side for such a small repair, and there is no record of my angieslist discount.

Overall, it was a good experience. The demeanor of the guys that came out were great. They were very professional and answered all my questions. They were very responsive in that way. They gave me options on automatic shut off valve, which made me feel confident. It terms on the performance, they were on time, cranked it out, and had quality work.

We had gotten a repair estimate from a company that proposed digging a 4ft x 4 ft x 25ft long tunnel under our house foundation. Cost estimates were $9000-$11,000. I had Baker Brothers come out based on the recommendation of a structural engineer. He had worked with Baker Brothers on numerous projects and recommended them highly. Steve of Baker Brothers confirmed that we did in fact have a hot water leak under our master bath. He proposed either of two options for repair or isolate the leaking line then run a PEX Tubing line through the attic to by-pass the damaged tubing section. I went with the PEX repair. The work went very well and I believe there was no contest between the 3 options for repair. Steve did a great job with the repair. He is easy to work with and very knowledgeable. He also took great care to clean up everything when the work was finished.

Baker Brothers provided a quote over the phone then handled the installation. The tech was prompt, efficient and very nice! The disposal was a higher horsepower than another company and cost a little less. I was very pleased with the service before, during and after installation!!

eiWe contacted Baker Brothers after reviewing on Angie's List. The call taker was very polite and made our appointment for the next day. The service man arrived a little later than projected but was very polite and made the installation. He cleaned up after the job and made sure we where happy with the work. We again called two weeks later when flooring was complete and hoped they would be able to resound the same day. We asked for and recieved the same service person and he again came within the time given did the repair and was very sure he cleaned up and again made sure we where satisfied with the job.

Excellent. We had some foundation work done and when I went under the house to see what had been done, I noticed an open drain line under the kitchen sink. The line had apparently been connected with duct tape (NOT a good plumbing component) and when the house shifted from the foundation work, the line separated. Everything from the sink was going onto the ground under the house. I also noticed one of the "Y" connectors was broken and had been "repaired" with duct tape. Note that these "duct tape repairs" had been done by some previous owner. This was on Saturday. Baker Bros. said they could have someone out that day. The plumber called about 20 minutes before he got to my house. He and his helper went under the house and he took a lot of photos with his cell phone. He reviewed those with me, describing the problems (which were not limited to the duct tape). He said he could patch it enough for the weekend, but it would take about half a day to reconfigure the drains. He gave an estimate of between $900 and $1300. He said it would be more expensive if they had to dig up the last part of the drain line. They finished the job by noon on Monday and the total was $932 - the low end of the estimate. He also texted me photographs of the completed work with descriptions of what was done and why. I absolutely recommend them!

I'm very surprised to see negative reviews. I would say their pricing is excellent for the level of work that they do. We are members of the "family plan" and at $9.99 per month, consider this worth the money because you get priority service and a discount on all parts/services. They even called us to let us know about the addition of free ac and furnace tune ups included with our membership. (this was not yet offered when we joined the program.) They were honest about the condition of our AC unit, noting that although it's an older model, it was top of the line when purchased and is still in great condition. I was given a list of recommended services and repairs when tune-ups were completed but didn't feel pressured. For the service that was completed, the service man took before and after pictures and sent to my phone so I could best understand what was done and why. I've had four different service men come out so far and have felt comfortable with all of them - that was a top priority for me and my husband. Service guys are clean about their work and were very timely. They warned about extra costs with the new toilet installation dependent upon what was found when the existing toilet was removed and so I knew exactly what it would cost before they started the repair. Their standard toilet, (I wasn't given options,) is a very good Kohler model versus the generic brand or basic style. Has the latest and greatest flush valve on the market. I will continue to call them with anything that arises and have recommended them to all family and friends.

Shawn Oliver did a great job he was very professional, showed a strong commitment in doing a excellent job inspecting the air conditioner and recommending replacing the contactor.. He went over the feature and benefits of the part what it does , what could happen and showed me the old part that was corroded and pitted and I know had not been replaced in 8 years. I strongly feel that his concern and presentation helped my decision to replace the part and that I would be ahead of the curve to do preventive maintenance on the A/C

My experience with them had been good. I like their punctuality, they got here when they said they would, they got the job done, they cleaned up after themselves. They gave an estimate of what it will take and they stuck to it, there was no surprise in the end. I'll tell other Angie's List members to use Baker Brothers Plumbing.

He showed me the price and I was taken aback quite a bit but I needed the work done so I told him to go ahead. I went and bought the faucet and they replaced it. They had to replace the pipes underneath because they were corroded. I also had a bathroom commode that would flush but took forever to fill back up which they also fixed. They were very clean and neat. The thing that threw me was the cost of the emergency valves. They replaced two valves in the kitchen. They charged $177.00 for each. The whole bill was 900 and something dollars. They gave me a discount for being an Angie's List member which brought it down to 800 and something dollars. I just thought the price was very excessive.

They removed old water heater and installed new water heater. They had to return two additional times in order to receive a green inspection tag from the city. The drains on the new water heater were not hooked up to drain outside of the attic and when they came the second time they vented the drain to come out of the soffit after confirming with their office that this was acceptable code compliance. It was not, they had to come a third time and vent the drain to the water heater to the ground per city code. All could have been completed on initial visit and the two subsequent trips were inconvenient as someone had to be at home when they came back and also the city inspector had to come out three times.

Our Rheem tankless hot water heater stopped working. I pulled the error code off of the unit and talked to the manufacturer (Rheem) directly. Based on the code, they told me it was either a bad fan or a bad circuit board (anyhow, something I needed professional help to fix). Rheem told me if a plumber could get out to my house by 2:30 the next day (Friday) then they could ship the parts to me by saturday, otherwise it wouldn't get there until Monday. Baker Bros had good reviews and they were the only ones who could come out that quickly. Anyhow, when I called Baker Bros to make the appointment, I asked them about pricing on the phone - specifically whether it was hourly or by the job. They told me that there is that $39 trip fee and then they would give a quote for the job when they had a chance to look at it. Sounded good, so I scheduled them. Technician arrived at 12:30PM which was awesome! Well as soon as the technician walked through my front door he informed me that there is a "diagnostic charge" of $212 for the first hour and $95 for each our after that. What!!! I was led to believe the $39 WAS the diagnostic charge! Anyhow, knowing this would have made a big difference if they had told me that over the phone. For that amount I would not have called them at all. Plus what I don't understand is why not a consistent hourly rate? I mean why would the first hour of diagnostics be more expensive? Anyhow, he was here and we were desperate for hot water (I have a baby in the house) so I told him to go ahead. He plugged in his digital reader, and got on the phone with Rheem, turns out it was the circuit board and since that was bad, he couldn't run the fan to test the fan so to the technician's credit, he nudged Rheem to also agree to replace the fan too. Huh, this was the same conclusion I got based on my call with Rheem. I still don't know what I got for my $212 diagnostic work. Technician quoted me $516 to install the parts. I asked if they guaranteed their work. He said that yes, then quickly caveated that they guaranteed the labor, but couldn't guarantee the parts, or if there are other failures. In other words they couldn't guarantee that they diagnosed the problem right (so what exactly did I get for my $212 ?). This made me really uneasy because I could just hear the cash register cha-chinging in my head of endless "diagnostic charges" if this unit craps out again. What I wanted to hear is that they would guarantee to fix the thing, not endlessly fiddle with it. Anyhow, we were stuck in a bind so I agreed to the repairs. The next day a different technician came and installed the parts. It took less than an hour. As I was writing my check for $516 for 1 hour of labor, I decided to ask him why this was so expensive. He told me it was because repairing a tankless required "special skills" that only a few people had so that is why it was so expensive. That's a bunch of baloney. I talked with Rheem and they pay contractors $125 an hour to do warranty work so I can see retail premium being $300 for a job.... but $500? Really?. Incidentally we are outside of the coverage area for Rheem's contractors (even though I had to pay labor I like using who Rheem uses) so I had to find my own people. Plus as the first Baker Bros technician who did the diagnostics was trying to schedule the technician for Saturday, he was talking with the Baker Bros office about sending out a qualified person to do the install since he wasn't working on Saturday. I overheard him say "yeah, I think so-and-so can do this. If he gets stuck, Rheem can walk him through the install on the phone." I would have felt a little better if they could give me a 3 month or 6 month guarantee on their work but they couldn't so again, I have to wonder about what I actually got for my money ( $212 + $516 for 2 hours of work) . The repairs are done, we have hot waters. But I have this terrible feeling in my stomach that if this fails again, then going back to Baker Bros will be an endless money pit, which I will definitely not do. To be fair, Baker Bros said if they had done the original installation of my tankless hot water heater, then they would have supplied a 5 year parts & labor warranty to which all of this stuff would have been free. I think if Baker Bros had done the original install, I would be raving about this company right now. But from the standpoint of calling them to do a repair job, even though from what I can tell the install of the replacement parts went well, I am still feeling really cheated at their lack of upfront transparency at the pricing structure and the lack of guarantee / support for their work, especially given the premiums they charged. I will try and call the owner on Monday and see if they can provide some assurances on their work and will update my posting with anything new. **** UPDATE**** Baker Bros saw my Angie's list post and called me and promised they would make this right. They asked if they could have the day to work on this and would get back to me. They called me back and said that they were going to refund the entire diagnostic charge. They also clarified that they supply a 6 mo warranty on their work but not on any other failures. This helped tremendously and they did make this right and SOOOOO appreciated it! Thank you Baker Bros!

After moving my refrigerator from the wall in order to check something, I discovered a leaky water line. I tightened the line, and that seemed to fix it, but I was wrong. The next day, I discovered a puddle of water seeping through the other side of the wall behind the refrigerator. I called Baker Brothers, and they were able to come out the same day to assess and repair. The plumber cut through the sheet rock to find that the pipe was leaking below the valve. It's not clear why that occurred, but it certainly needed fixing. He had all parts on hand in order to cut and solder the pipes to attach a replacement valve. Unfortunately the first attempt still leaked after turning the water back on, so he reworked it, and now there's no more leaking. There was a slight misunderstanding about the sheet rock hole. Of course it was necessary to cut the hole in order to perform the repair, but I had thought I understood that the hole would be repaired afterward, but I was informed that they do not do those sorts of repairs. I will therefore need to find another way to repair the hole in the wall. However, being that the hole is located behind the refrigerator, it is not unsightly, so I can repair it at my leisure. Still, it is hard to give an "A" rating for Quality when the job is slightly unfinished, in my opinion. Total service time was about 2 hours, and I am happy with that.

I discovered a pool of water in my hallway caused by a leak from a failed hot water tank. Baker Brothers answered my call promptly and had a technician to my residence within an hour. The old hot water tank was removed, a permit received from the township to install a new tank, and the new tank was installed that day. I was impressed with the technician's careful installation and professionalism, the quality of the work, and the pleased that the entire job was completed within the day.

The WORST experience I have ever had with a contractor in my 12 years of home ownership. I called on a Sunday and set up an appointment for the next day at 1:00. Wes showed up on time and informed me that I needed a new hot water heater, which is what I expected. He also said that I needed a WAGS valve and a Pan "to bring it up to code with the City" inspectors. He also said he did not have everything needed to complete the job and would have to come back the following day at 1:00pm. He collected $875 and left. The next day, when they did not show up, I called Baker Bro's at 3:45 to see where they were and what was going on. They told me that someone was on his way. Pedro showed up at 5:30 (4.5 hours late) and installed the new hot water heater, pan, Wags valve and quick shut off valve. He collected another $919 when he was finished at 9:30pm. The next morning I noticed that my front walk way was stained by the rust and sediment when it was drained on the concrete the night before....and after spraying it with the hose has still not come off completely. BB scheduled the city to inspect the new water heater on Friday. After waiting for the inspector for most of the day, I am surprised and miffed that it FAILED inspection and was red tagged. When I question the inspector, I find out that the Wags valve and pan are not required to pass code. After about 4 messages over several days, I finally got Craig, the manager, to call me back. He said he would come out the following day at 1:00 to look at what was done and assess the situation. Craig did not show nor return my phone calls that day! I call the next day and craig apologizes for not getting back to me the day before. Craig does come over the following afternoon to evaluate the situation and tells me he will need to call the city to see what they want done to pass it. When I did not hear back from Craig 3 days later I again call. Another appointment is set. The day before this appointment I call to confirm, as I have already missed 4 days of work between the work, inspection and missed appointment. Craig sends out a 3rd plumber to fix the hot water heater so it will pass inspection. Well, it FAILED the inspection AGAIN! BTW, there is nothing particularly unusual about my 1963 brick rambler. There are ten's of thousands of houses in Dallas like mine. The forth plumber sent to my house was accompanied by Craig (the manager) and they managed to fix it so that it passed the 3rd inspection by the City. I was DISGUSTED by the whole situation. So the bottom line is that BB plumbers are 1) incompetent 2) don't know city code and 3) don't respect their customers time. After I raised heck, they did agree to refund a portion of my money, but their first offer was offensive and I had to negotiate for them to refund a more fair amount. Had I not demanded they make it right...this hot water heater would have cost me nearly $1800 dollars, a rust-stained walkway, and 5 days of missed work. DON'T USE BAKER BROTHERS...THEY SUCK!
Description of Work: New Hot Water Heater was replaced as the old one developed a slow leak. Baker Brothers also installed a WAGS valve, DC valve??, a quick shut off valve, a pan, and a Temperature & Pressure Release valve.

Nick B. was the Technician and the work to install my fixtures to the plumming work now secure behind and out in front of my new shower tile walls went smooth as it did before when Nick came out the first time. He is such a professional and has so much experience it's a little hard to believe but his work clearly shows how talented and how he raves about working for Baker Brothers Plumbing. I think they are lucky to have someone so young and talented working for them.
Description of Work: Today I had Baker Brothers return to my to complete the installation of my shower fixtures after a recent bathroom remodel was done on the tile in the bathroom tub and shower area. In March I first scheduled an appointment to have the shower head raised and to have some new values installed around the vanity and toilet areas along with fitting the shower for new hardware. I started a remodeling effort on my guest bathroom and these items were needed early as part of this project. On March 13th the Technician Nick B. arrived at my home wearing the protective coverings on his shoes and I explained what I needed done. Nick was really professional and well skilled at his job it was a little suprising that someone so young could be so knowledgeable but he was really sharp and his work was spot on. I don't agree with the Baker Brothers prices but this is no reflection to the solid professionalism and skilled work you receive if you select this company for plumbing services. Sometimes you get what you pay for and to have it done right with warranties maybe this is the reason you pay more at the end. Yesterday I called Baker Brothers and scheduled an appointment and exclusively asked for Nick B. to return to my home and finish the installation of my fixtures as he mentioned in March and once again I was plesantly impressed by his work and the end result, my shower now looks perfect. Nick is certainly a great representative or spokesman for your company, I would think he would be a great role model for new Technicians starting at your company.

They were very thorough. They did a good job. They fixed everything and made sure it was all fixed before they left. I have had no issues since.

The service was very good. One of the supervisors came out to check the work. They came out when they said they would and did what they said they would.
Description of Work: They put in a garbage disposal, they fixed gas logs, and installed plumbing for the gas logs. The cost above did not include the cost of the garbage disposal.

The technician was very receptive and professional. He was on time and wore shoe covers so that he didn't get the carpet dirty. He fixed all of the problems without exception.
Description of Work: He fixed an outside plumbing valve, fixed a seal on a toilet, and he fixed the improperly installed valve on my hot water heater. He fixed a seal on a toilet, and used a double wax seal to correct the previous work! 6/2013
