Today, I contacted several plumbers to get bids to replace the sewer lines in my home. My house is 60 years old with most of the plumbing already replaced, it was time to get quotes to finish the rest. Baker Brothers came out within 3 hours of calling, this was great, but it went down hill quickly. The estimator was not very responsive to what I was telling him I wanted (I think he was a salesman and not a plumber). All he wanted to do was sell me a contract for service repairs for $200.00. I told him all I wanted was an estimate for the plumbing. He then said it would cost $200 to look at the plumbing. I told him that I would be happy to have him provide me with a quote, but that I had no intentions for paying for one. He had a "you got me" look and then started working the quote. He gave me an estimate for $7,000.00. This was laughable. This quote was a thousand dollars more than my previous plumbing work where I had all of the gas lines in my home replace and the main sewer line dug up and replaced by hand. This quote was at least twice the amount I will would expect to pay from an honest plumber. He also charged me $40.00 for the sales pitch.

Everything went well. Qucik and painless. He even gave me a couple of things to do in the future to fix the problem myself. Very satisfied.

They were reasonably prompt, did the job, cleaned up after themselves fairly well and completed the job in the time promised. I found them a little pricey but not horrendous. The only problem I had was that they did not communicate with me as well as they could have. They were late getting started due to a problem on a previous job and my service rep did not contact me directly to let me know about the delay. He apologized, I accepted. He did notify his superior but no one contacted me. It was not a big problem. I would certainly use this firm again.

Work went well. We would definitely hire them for future work. The job that was done was not an easy fix and the plumber was thorough and efficient.

I was pleased with the experience and I would recommend them to others. First they dug a few feet over from where the problem was and they missed the mark. It cost them extra time and yard clean up, but I wasn't charged more because of that. When I had them do work on my HVAC, they would price match other competitors.

They were here shortly after I called. The woman on the phone was professional as well as the service man who came out. I didn't do all the things on my list because of my budget but he tackled what he could do easily with just the service call fee. I was extremely happy with the company and would use them again.

I liked that they sent the same employee both times. He was very helpful. I had used them several years ago. I felt the work was very satisfactory.

I had two other companies come out and the faucets would start dripping again soon after the service. Baker came out and changed the seats in both faucets and we have not had any issues since. They did a great job. The charge you to come out and subtract that from the charge if they do the service. I am totally satsified with the service but the price was a little high. There was one faucet that I didn't have serviced but the technician gave me some advice on how to fix it, I thought this was very nice of him.

They were very good. They are competent. I know if I will call them they will come out and fix the issue. They are always punctual, clean and professional.

everything went perfect in both instances. Water heater quote was $100's less than any competitor.

David was great. He was professional and knowledgeable. We found a leak in the disposal unit under the sink about a week later, and he came back and fixed it, apologizing for the need for a second trip.

omIt took multiple phone calls to get them started - then they cancelled and rescheduled - it took about 5 weeks just to get my sewer tested and then fixed- they broke my toilet bowel but they did replace this- I asked them to install a fawcet since they were already out there and they charged full price - as if I had made a one time call just for the fawcett. I called to the administrator and he was not very nice- and never appoligized for the lack of service they gave. Would not reccomend. them. Thank you

I have 3 1/2 baths. One tub and one toilet were running very slow. I had had the sewer line cleaned out on 7/29/2013 by another plumber, who was unavailable to come that day, so I called Baker Bros. as Angie's List rates him "high". The plumber arrived and flushed toilets and said it was my main sewer line. He said that perhaps something had not cleared when it had been done on 7/29 and I agreed that was possible. He then quoted me a price of $318.00. I balked as I have had this done in the past at far less. AND I had just paid $125.00 for the same service on 7/29. He eventually charged me $131.00 which included an Angie's List discount. He showed me roots in the pipes via his camera. ( In our area, this is fairly common and many people have to have the lines cleared yearly.) He cleaned out the line and then told me that my main sewer pipe was cracked/broken and it needed to be replaced - soon! His cost $6000.00! I said absolutely no. I frankly do not believe this is necessary, especially since he tried to overcharge me for the clean out. Currently, all toilets and tubs work perfectly. I am 67 and a widow. I have been in this house for over 35 years and it is well maintained in an upscale neighborhood. I may be wrong, but I believe this was a scam and I have no confidence in Baker Bros Plumbing. I would not recommend them to anyone. 8/30/13 I contacted Ben Franklyn Plumbing to give me their assessment on my plumbing issues. They charged $180 for flushing the pipe and also used a video camera to look at the same pipe that Baker Bros. did. Ben Franklyn tech found a crack near the end of the line where it joins the street. Their cost to replace this section, $2770.00. Upon removal, they showed me that pipe, filled with roots. Verified that everything else was in great shape. Did the work in one day and also guaranteed their work. I stand by my assessment of Baker Bros-overpriced and have a tendency to try to sell the customer on more repairs than are necessary. Ben Franklyn Plumbing is on Angie's list and will have all my future business.

I really enjoyed working with the plumber and Baker Brothers staff. He explained to me what he was going to do and why. He called to tell me when the plumbers would be at my house and these appointments were kept.

The outdoor gas grill's flex hose was leaking gas and needed to be replaced. The gas was turned off at the appliance. The old hose was removed and a new hose was attached. The ends of the new hose had to be taped and sealed to prevent any leaks. The entire job took the technician 20 minutes to complete. Before starting the job, the technician consulted a price book and quoted a price of $321.30!!!! Three hundred dollars to replace a flex hose? Comon' guys! I said NO to the job. The Tech then quoted a second, then a third price of $189.08. For a flex hose! I can understand a minimum call charge of $39.00. Then parts and labor of $50 to $60. But $189......wow. I then failed to notice that he did not give me the 10% off as advertised on Angie's list. Baker Bros: Please do not respond by saying you consulted the standard rate book. Your price book bears no resemblance to reality. I will never use these people again. My advice to members is to steer clear unless money is no object.

Baker Brothers was very prompted in arriving on a Saturday morning to repair the problem. While the price was high for worked performed, it was in line for weekend service. Repairman was very helpful and professional. The bulk of the cost was to clear the drain which required him to go to the roof to clear.

Woke up to a leaking water heater, called Baker Brothers-whom I'd used before. Was told by the answering service they couldn't get out until that afternoon, but got a call back about 8AM that they were in the area and could be over by 9AM. The plumber and his assistant evaluated the leak and determined it was inside the heater and it needed to be replaced. Needless to say I was not looking forward to this. But they were totally professional. They put down drop cloths and cleaned up after themselves, They had to reroute the overflow and drain pan to beyond the house (we're on pillars and the previous plumbers just let it drain under the house), and install new vent pipes (the old one was under the AC unit and didn't really do a lot). It took about four hours to finish the work, excluding having to get parts. If it hadn't been an emergency I could have shopped around and probably gotten a water heater for less, but I can't say that the cost was that much higher. I'd certainly use them again.

Baker Brother supposedly waived the $39.00 service call fee since we agreed to have them do the work but the bill still came to $330.00 for some simple plumbing labor which equates to $412.00 an hour! I have placed emergency calls to plumbers in the middle of the night to snake a drain for $150.00 or less and felt that we were being taken advantage of through predatory sales techniques. I began calling Baker Brothers everyday starting the Wednesday after the work was completed and reiterated my concern to the receptionists who were very friendly and responsive throughout the entire process. On Thursday a manager called me back and heard my case and said he would have to check with the technician. I called back on Friday and Monday looking for an answer to my grievance and a manager named Wesley called me back on Monday afternoon stating that they would not offer any refund or recourse because my girlfriend had signed the work order. He stated that it did not matter how long it took the technician to do the job and all jobs were quoted by the job and not the amount of time. I argued that if a job takes a significantly less amount of effort than anticipated, they should be willing to pass some of that savings on to the consumer but the manager said ?no, we are keeping all the money and you will get no type of refund?. While Baker Brothers conducted themselves in a very professional manner, we feel they took advantage of a vulnerable situation and then refused every opportunity to rectify their opportunistic practices. This is definitely a company I would not trust and will not recommend to anyone. Update I was able to work out an amicable solution with Baker Brothers, Tamara in particular. She called me a few times and conducted herself as a true customer service professional would. Given this resolution, I can fully recommend Bakers Brothers but I would suggest going straight to Tamara if you have any issues with them.

The isolation of the leaks took several days and was done in December 2012. After a determination by the insurance company's engineering firm using Baker Brothers isolation information, we used the same company to perform the repairs which began in June, 2013. The job was estimated to be 3 days in duration, but ended up being 2 weeks and about $5000 more than the original estimate. The cause for the increase was due to tunneling to find "good" pipe to splice to. One leak was fixed fairly quickly, but the second took over a week because the original isolation didn't indicate that approx. 20' of pipe was cracked. The plumber would tunnel and test, tunnel and test(at $300/ft I might add) until finally he said that the whole section needed to be replaced. This would require another hole in the living room and a procedure to burst the whole pipe and replace with PVC. My questions: 1) Why wasn't this cracked pipe isolated in the beginning? 2) Why did it take $1,200 of tunneling to finally realize that the other procedure would have been faster and more cost effective in the long run? The original estimate was approx. $3,400, with the final total at approx. $8500. The young man who did the work was the same person who did the isolation. He was very nice, polite, courteous, and prompt. However, he did not exude that air of confidence that customers like to see.

Excellent service. I contacted Baker Brothers and they offered available times that met my schedule. The staff arrived on time, reviewed the current situation (old, water heater), provided details about what would be done to remove and install a new tankless water heater on the outside of the home. The price included removal of old water heater, redirect of existing gas lines, an electrician to redirect the electric lines, a box to cover the new water heater on the outside of the home, and a follow up inspection by the city. Additionally, they offer AC services and were able to schedule an AC tune up the same day. They were efficient, professional, and I would say an overall great job done! I have hired them for an additional project, much smaller in scale and will continue to use their services.

A young journeyman plumber, Cesar, spent two days locating the leaks. He had all the right equipment, he knew exactly what he was doing, and he was thoroughly professional in his method and manner. Cesar was also the project manager for the repairs. He and his associates took great care in the repair process, ensuring minimal disruption of our routine. The work was first rate, attested by the city inspector. Baker Brothers is a top-echelon company and they have a first rate employee in Cesar.

My water heater was leaking into the garage. It happened over the weekend. Down here, we don't have basements. We are built on clay soil, they call it black gumbo, so we don't have basements we have slabs. Our water heater is in a closet off of the garage. It started leaking and I walked out there on a weekend and I called them. Unfortunately, don't try and get anything fixed on a weekend. They were going to come out but they were calling me at 7:30 at night and they were over in Fort Worth which is another 35 miles west of us and then they were supposed to come on Sunday. It was just a mix up, a horrid mix up. They were fantastic once they were here because they came with a big truck and they came with both gas and electric water heaters. They must have had 8 water heaters in that truck. They were done within 2 hours. What happens on weekends is they only have a couple of people on duty and they might be over in Fort Worth. Other than that, I would definitely use them again. The unit was over 15 years old so it had to be replaced. I had a tray put in as well that was a hundred and fifty dollars extra because the darn thing was leaking. It was leaking onto the floor of the closet and then out. They put a tray and a little thing that goes out to the garage. It was 10 gallons larger and has a 12 years warranty. Once they were here it was marvelous.

I am uncomfortable going into complete details as I was not completely satisfied. I did talk to the plumbers before I paid in full about my issues with them. They made some mistakes that I ended up paying for. They completed the job but I wouldn't use them again. Since posting my review, I received a call from Baker Brothers. I was told they looked into the job that was performed at my house and spoke to the plumber who performed the work. I was told they were going to send me a refund for a credit the plumber had said he was going to give me but never did. I thought it was good customer service that they called and asked me for further comments.

The quality was good. I would probably not use them just because of the cost.
