Everything went smoothly, was very well done.
Description of Work: They replace gas water heater and some fixtures in the bathroom. The most wonderful thing they did ... Mike Wheeler ... was to figure out how to reroute the vent line for my dryer. This was remarkable as I had had a number of other people out to try and figure out how this could be done. The old vent had been damaged and couldn't be used any more. Everyone insisted the only way to repair was to get contractor to basically rebuild my utility room. Mike Wheeler with Baker Brothers figured out how it could be done very quickly, for a fraction of what it would have cost. I am so impressed by Baker Brothers !

I have used Baker Brothers for plumbing for several years now without complaint. Today was different. I called because there was a leak under my kitchen sink. They were able to come out promptly and quoted to me there would be a $39 charge for the estimate that would be applied to the cost of the repair. Since I have not had any problems with them in the past, this was not a concern. I fully anticipated using them. I was very surprised when the plumber quoted $212 to fix the sink. He thought he might be able to get it down to 182 after he called his supervisor. I had a $50 coupon so that was used instead and I pair about $160 for this repair. I would not have used them if it had not been for the $39 trip charge but it would not have made any sense to not use them, pay the $39 and then get another plumber out. I've not felt overcharged by them before but do this time. $160 for less than an hour of work and maybe $10 in parts was way too much. I probably will not use them in the future. I'm sorry about this because I had considered them "my" plumbing company.

The two plumbers arrived around 4:30 PM. They had to see into my wall, so they did a small test cut on the ceiling. They still could not see the issue so they did have to remove a large portion of my dining room wall. They cut it out and luckily, found the leak. My husband didn't know it, but he had drilled through the pipe while hanging some art work. Even though the hole was miniscule, he technician found it and was able to fix it immediately. The charges were very reasonable - most of the charge was for having to cut the wall away. The whole thing was over in an hour and they did an excellent job of cleaning up afterwards.
Description of Work: I called with a plumbing issue: I noticed water coming through my wall in the dining room from the bathroom upstairs. I called on Monday morning and they got me seen that day. There wasn't a "window" per se, but they did assure me they would call 30-45 minutes out from arrival, which they did.

After calling the first time with water leaking from my second floor the tech could not find where the leak was. The second time a tech came for the same leak he found the one commode was not shutting down and kept filling causing the leak in my ceiling. After the review I expressed interest in just changing the commode out. The tech recommended a brand that he said was on sale and was commercial level quality. He was right. We have been very satisfied with his recommendation. We called them back to replace the two other commodes in the house with the same brand. Despite the initial false start with Baker Bros we are very happy with their services.

Baker Brothers has been out for me 3 times - once to unclog the main drain, a second time to do a pressure wash of the main drain and one other time to unclog a sink. Their clog guy is names Mike, I think - he is very professional and good at what he does. They are very responsive and can get out the same day. Last time I called, they were out within an hour. Prices were not outrageous, but are always more than you want to pay for plumbing. I'd use them again for sure.

After my research I determined it would be less expensive to buy the toilet and bring it home and then just ask them to install it. I found the best install price at Home Depot and they sent Baker Brothers out to do the work. Much better price than calling BB directly. Installer was on time, did job quickly, and cleaned up after himself. Would use again.

Initial contact was great, and they remained in contact until the install. The only issue was that the installers were late, but they were coming from northwest Fort Worth during rush hour, so that is understandable. The team of two set to work and had the install completed within 3 hours. They were both professional and communicative, and willing to answer any questions I had. They cleaned up afterward, scheduled the code inspection for me (passed), and contacted me at least two times afterward for feedback and to ensure I was taken care of.

In a nutshell, they replaced a dead water heater and did a great job. It was just installed today, so I can only speak to the installation service. ************ About the Price First, a note on the price. The price quoted was $1505.39. They offered a discount of $150 if I signed up for a "Family Plan" at $9.95/month, with a minimum requirement of 12 months. So, the price I quoted is the total I will end up paying: $1505.39 - $150 + ($9.95 x 12) = $1474.79 The Family Plan includes a number of free inspections (plumbing, cooling, heating), a 15% discount on repairs, priority booking, and a guaranteed response within 24 hours. But I only needed my water heater replaced. And you can't use it with the Angie's List coupon, which caps at $50. So, the choice was $1475 with free inspections or $1455 to just replace the water heater. It's clearly a revenue model and customer relationship mechanism/gimmick to encourage future business with them. While I understand it, I am not thrilled with that approach, because it feels like the price is being artificially elevated to artificially encourage me to establish a relationship with the business (and create opportunities for future work with them) instead of giving me a lower price and trusting that the quality of their work will do that. The water heater is located in our attic in a two-story home. While the attic is wide and spacious and there is an excess of room to work, hauling a tank down is more difficult than rolling it out off a first floor. That said, $297 of that price was for it being up there. That seems like a pretty steep add-on. That said, Fredo and Saw did such a great job that I am willing to give the benefit of the doubt that I got my money's worth and overlook the marketing gimmick and upcharge. ************ About the Service Fredo and Saw did a great job, here is what they did for me: - Removed the old 50-gallon water tank (Builder's grade, Bradford White Defender) - Installed a new 50-gallon water tank (Professional grade, Rheem) - Plumbed a more convenient connection for future replacements - Installed new flex lines gas, water inflow, and water outflow - Put in a new pan - Installed new insulation on pipes, even the existing pipes They laid drop cloths throughout the house along the path the tanks were rolled. They were courteous and professional. More importantly, they were more courteous and professional than I would have expected. They worked like a well-oiled machine, finishing the work less than two hours after they showed up. The highest praise I can give them is that when they were done, it looked like something I would have been proud of. No apparent half-measures or half-steps. Fredo and Saw seem like nice and competent professionals. They definitely did great work. I would definitely call them again.

I would not recommend this vendor for any work on sprinkler systems although they state that sprinkler leaks are a part of their service. Don't waste your money. I was charge trade fee for essentially no work performed. They turned on the water and ask me a few questions. Technician provided a quote to locate the leak and repairs would be additional once the leak was located. I thought 275.00 dollars was a bit high (with no repairs included) and refused work. I'm sure the Technician felt embarrassed asking me for 39.00 for a 5 minute visit.

He acted like he knew what he was doing part of the time, but was unsure part of the time. He even said, "there is something there, but I'm not sure what it is". When insurance adjuster got with me, she went over some of it, but said there were no breaks, but he had made no mention of the area that he didn't know what was going on. He did talk about an area, going from line in the master bath to the line in the living room, saying it was holding water, so it was sagging. He also mentioned a root in the pipe, in the yard, that he did not mention to me. Because of the conflicting info, from the two companies, I decided to contact Schrade Plumbing, who I had used before. The sent out a guy from Flow Plumbing who isolates and maps problems. When all was said and done, there were no breaks, no roor in the line. There was no strange area in the spot he mentioned to me. However, there were 2 main areas that were "sagging" and holding water, which explained all of the problems I have been having. So, I think the plumber from Baker Bros was on the right track, he needs more experience and training to do a complete job. If I had gone with what he suggested, but did not give me a price for, it would have not solved my problem.
Description of Work: Insurance company paid to have Baker Bros come out to confirm a problem another plumber had diagnosed. They used a camera to check all the pipes. He drew something out to send to insurance but did not show it to me. He talked about a few of the problems, but did not explain anything to me.

Our plumbing stopped up on a weekend. We usually use Levi and Son but they did not answer the call so I checked for others to call. We called Mr. Rooter and they came out and charged a little under $400 to camera and clean out roots. They said there was a break in the pipe and would cost around $7000 to repair. We decided to get other estimates. We called Benjamin Franklin and they charged $179 to camera to see what the issue was and then gave us an estimate around $4600. Then Baker Brothers came out and carmera the problem (for free). Depending on where they start the "0" on their camera at is the footage and that is how they determine the price. Baker Brothers started the footage at the end of the clean out value instead at the top of the ground which saved us $$$. They fixed several other little issues in the house for free and was very knowledgeable on replacing our water heater with a tankless one. We decided to get a tankless water heater and they were the best price. Very pleased with them and will be using them in the future.

Called because we needed flapper replaced on toilet. Arrived late. Said couldn't get the part and would have to be ordered. That "Jacuzzi toilets always a problem. Better replace it." " he went somewhere and got us new toilet. Removed old one (3 yrs old) after MUCH struggle......? First time????. Then said he couldn't use two wax rings to reset new toilet AND looked like PVC pipe down in slab would have to be drilled out and replaced. Actually the longer he stayed the larger my problem was getting. Finally after over an hour and a half I said just clean up and leave ....That I'd call them if I needed further help. I was very suspicious by then and just wanted him OUT. Following business day I called my regular Plummer and he came right out. Set the toilet (yes you can do on two wax rings!) and was gone in approx 40 min. ($100 parts and labor). UPDATE: 4/28 Baker Bros called my husband and said they were refunding $51.

The reason we did not reset the toilet is, it has been our experience that when you double stack bowl wax rings there is a possibility that they may leak and cause structural damage. With the flange already being low, we did not want to take the chance of flooding your house. We are happy that you were able to get the issue resolved. t I called Baker Brothers on a investment property that had a potential slab leak. I called them because of their advertising and reviews on Angie's List. The plumber that showed up was named "Steve". I explained to him that there might be a slab leak as in the corner of the house where the kitchen is the fresh water supply that connects to the hot and cold water to the sink, dishwasher and ice maker I could hear water running from either behind the sheet rock and or beneath the slab. It was evident that it was in that corner as from foundation work the exterior hole in that corner of the foundation would fill up with water. This fresh water junction also had another line that fed to a exterior water tap for a garden hose attachment. I told "Steve" that I thought the culprit could be the outside hose bib in the wall that connected to that junction. Steve informed me that the leak could be anywhere between the kitchen supply line and the line that runs under the kitchen slab all the way to the manifold that was located where the hot water tank was in the garage. He said that it would cost $2600 to reroute a line from the manifold thru the attic to the kitchen and that was the only way to fix it with a reasonable costs. I agreed and the work began. At one time "Steve" made it a point to show me that indeed it was the cold water supply line that he thought it was as it did not pressure test. After the job was complete I went to the property today to examine the work and to inspect where I thought the leak was located on the copper line that fed to the exterior hose bib. I removed the hose bib and indeed it was the copper pipe that had split from what looks to be a frozen pipe split as it was about 1 1/2 inch split that ran horizontal along the copper pipe. Needless to say I am seeing red because if "Steve" would have taken the time to remove that small section of copper pipe where I had told him I thought the leak was he would have discovered the split pipe, then he could have capped it off and pressure tested the line to see the leak was there and not in the slab!!! I will post if picture of this split pipe if this forum allows it. I called Baker Brothers and they said that they will have a manager call me. I will amend and or add to this comment once and or if I hear back from them. First update/amendment: I did hear back from Baker Brothers and I am meeting them at the property tomorrow(04/30/14) to review the work, retest the old line and if there was work preformed that was not necessary they told me I would get some money refunded.

Noticed leak Friday morning on way to work, called and they came out that afternoon; because of the "nature of the beast" they had to turn the water off that evening and came back first thing Saturday. Made it work so I had water for the rest of the weekend but had to come out Monday to dig trench and redo the 30+ year old equipment. They are always prompt, professional and do a great job. Unfortunately, because of the age of my home, nothing done is every "inexpensive" but they do what they can with "senior" discounts, Angie's List discounts and it is appreciated. I am a Preferred Customer and that helps, as well, with the response time. So far the same technician has been sent each time I've had them out which is a nice touch, too. Baker Brothers is my "preferred plumber!"
