Eddie Reynolds is communicative, energetic, punctual and extremely hard-working. He called if he was going to be running a little late, which I appreciated. He gave me accurate and quick estimates and suggested options for spending more or less money. Because we weren't expecting the job to be so extensive, he fit it in around his other obligations and it took a few weeks. Eddie is the only person I would call if I had a roofing problem and I hope he never leaves the area, because he would be hard to replace!
Description of Work: I have a brick building with a steep-pitched slate roof, built in the late 1800s. It's difficult to find a roofer to work on slate, let alone one who charges reasonable rates. I had originally planned just to have the missing shingles replaced on the roof, which is original to the house. It turned out that the roofing nails, which are not copper, were corroding, and much of the non-copper flashing around the dormers needed to be replaced. Eddie ran copper along both eaves, replaced all the shingles part-way up to the peak (I made the decision not to redo the whole roof for cost reasons), made a couple of runs to Vermont to buy slate shingles, reflashed three dormers and two chimneys with copper, did some mortar work on one of the chimneys, flashed the ridge of the roof with copper, and replaced the gutter on one side with a plastic gutter.

I have skylights in my roof and asked which type of roof would be the best; they suggested a rubber roof. They would work into the late hours of the day, in the dark, which concerned me because I felt they could not see what they were doing. The work was horrible and they brought the rubber roof too far up and over the windowsills on the second floor of my home, so I am not able to take the screens off of my windows. They removed shingles that should not have been removed. I now have to hire someone else to not only fix the leaking roof, but also put on shingles as part of my roof has shingles and the other part is just the rubber roof (not finished). They gave me a 10 year warranty on the work, but they did not honor this warranty. My roof was leaking into my kitchen within a month. I called multiple times to have them come and fix the job, and he finally came out once to look at the roof, found the leak and fixed it (this was about 2-3 months after initial repair). My roof was okay for a few months, then come November of 2008 my roof was leaking again. I continued to call Reynolds to come and honor their warranty, however they never showed or returned my phone calls. In December of 2008, I finally touched base with Reynolds and he said he looked at my roof, but in order to fix my roof he would need to build up the area around my skylights, at a cost of $400-500 per skylight. I told him I already paid him to repair my roof and I wasn't going to pay him more to fix the job that should have been done in the first place. Finally in the summer of 2009, I took Reynolds and Sons to court as they were not honoring the contract and warranty we established.
Description of Work: I hired them to repair a 30' x 30' part of my roof which was leaking.

Went great. Nice, friendly people. Did little extras. Would use again.
Description of Work: Got their name from Angie's. Agree that they are reliable, good estimate, stuck to it. Came when they said they would come, did what they said they would do, and cleaned up after themselves. Perfecto!

After numerous unsuccessful calls to many, many roofers in Southern Maine to locate someone who could repair a leaking skylight at a price I could afford, I finally got a call from my daughter-in-law about Reynolds & Son, who had fixed their roof nicely in Westbrook. I called Eddie Reynolds and he came over, got up and examined the skylight and roof, and then gave me a detailed, written estimate on-the-spot. I told him we would think about his offer. Three days later I called and told him he had the job, when could he start? He offered to start the next day, which was Saturday. He arrived early in the morning with a crew of about 4 men and started immediately to repair our skylight and roof. They worked until early evening, then returned Monday morning By 8:00 PM Monday night the roofing and skylight repair job was completely finished (except for the interior ceiling repair and painting caused by the leaking skylight) and the house and lawn had been completely cleaned up. His painter arranged to come by several days later to repair and paint the ceiling, and he also did an excellent job. We were incredibly pleased with this professional roof repair job. He is the only person we will call in the future if we need any kind of roof work, or our friends ask for references.
Description of Work: Eddie brought a crew to my house to remove 1/2 the roof, repair the skylight over our upstairs bathroom, install lead on the backside of the chimney and install a stainless steel chimney cap. This work started on a Saturday and was completely finished and my house/yard cleaned up by late Monday night. The skylight had been leaking for over a year and had to be repaired and the interior of the bathroom ceiling needed to be scraped, repaired, sanded and professionally painted to complete the roof and skylight repair job.
