We needed a lot of carpentry work done. It was helpful that Kory is a carpenter as well as a painter and we agreed with most of his recommendations. Amazingly, the job was completed in two days with two workers the first day and five the second. 100% re-caulk. The brick was masked off and the windows covered with plastic before painting began (we've had other painters that didn't bother). They painted the roof vents with a dark gray to blend with the shingles. We were very pleased with the results on the front door which was looking pretty bad in spite of the fact that the sun never hits it. We would not hesitate to call Protek Painting again.

Went very well, from receiving a bidto final inspection of work. Will definitely use their services again.

Owner was very personable and knowledgeable. He was customer focused when I heard him talk with a customer on the phone. I wanted to use his company. I never could get an estimate from him, even though I contacted his office, emailed, left voice mail and texts. I think he may have too much business. Work was never performed.

This is the second time in 7 years that we have used Protek for major interior,painting. Kory, owner of Protek, is a pleasure to work with. The crew of 3 painters worked almost 10 hours a day to complete our job. They did a fantastic job and also cleaned up after themselves. I couldn't be more pleased with the work.

My son had used them a couple of years ago and that, along with the ratings on Angie's list convinced me to hire ProTek without seeking any other estimates. I would not recommend Protek for any painting job. The company is extremely incompetent. I had to spend a total of 4 nights out of my house due to their incompetence. And the job was very expensive for my small house. The simple wall and trim painting was barely acceptable. They painted the flat surfaces like cabinets and window sills with brushes which left very visible brush marks. When I complained about this, they agreed to repaint the cabinets in my kitchen and master bath. So several days later, they taped off these areas and spray painted the cabinets, but the person doing this failed to sufficiently sand the surfaces. They spent around 8 hours preparing the areas, but failed to actually fix the problem. I think this is the highest form of incompetence. Clean up was another significant issue. The crew did an extremely poor job at clean up. Every sink in my house had paint in it. My countertops, bathroom fixtures, floors all had significant amounts of paint on them. My plants outside the front door had paint on them. I tried to get the salesman, Jarrod, and the crew foreman, Edsel, to fix clean this up, but they insisted that I had to point our every paint spot in the house. There were (and still are) 100's of paint specs all over the house -- especially on my wood floor. There was also paint on my furniture. I'm still not sure I can get all of this removed. A lot of these paint drops and strokes on my wood floor and other surfaces have been difficult to remove The sales guy, Jarrod, tried to justify all of this, but I think I just got a bad crew. As we all know, these companies hire independent crew of various skill levels. I think the crew I got was very inexperienced in interior painting. Do not do business with Protek Painting.

The service was fine. They have done work for me over the past couple of years too. It took them about 6 hours to do the 2 rooms of interior painting. They supplied the paint and I selected the colors. They went and matched it. I like that they do good work for the competitive pricing. They are quick with their service. Normally 3 painters come out and they are also very professional.

In this project we wanted Protek Painting to remove wallpaper from three walls in our kitchen area and then paint these walls. We appreciated the attention to detail that Kory Cheatham exhibited to what we desired for color selection. He also understood the need to protect the stressed wood floors in the area to be painted The paint tint on two of the walls needed to blend well with the paint tint on adjacent walls. The middle (third) wall needed to be painted dark red, a difficult color to apply so that it covers uniformly without streaks. The ceiling was to be left white, so preventing paint overlap where the ceiling and the walls join was important. A two-man crew arrived on Wednesday at noon to prep the two areas for painting. The stressed wood floor was completely covered as well as all cabinets and appliances in the kitchen. A plastic curtain shielded this area from the rest of the house. Following removal of the wallpaper, the crew patched all damaged areas in the sheetrock and then applied texture to the walls. The next day, the crew arrived promptly to continue the project. All walls were primed at this time and them two coats of paint applied to assure good coverage. We were very pleased with the uniformity of the paint on the walls. Where the walls joint each other and where the walls joined the ceiling, their high quality workmanship was obvious - no paint overlapping or bleeding could be detected. After the crew removed all covering and masking material, we did not find any paint on the floors, kitchen cabinets or appliances. Upon completion of the project, Kory Cheatham inspected the work and then went through a detailed examination of the painted area. We are very pleased with the workmanship of the Protek crew. We expect to use them on our next painting project.

We had them do exterior painting on a one story home. 6 painters came out and they finished the job in 2 days. They found a couple of rotten boards and they replaced them as they kept working. They got the paint for me and it was the color I wanted. They did a great job. They were fantastic. They were professional and did what they said they were going to do. They did have to do initial work by replacing the rotten boards, but they did fix those as they went. It was well worth it and I did get them off Angie’s List. I wished Angie’s List would let me give them an A+.

They have done a couple of things for me and they are really good. The last time I used them they painted the inside house walls and some cabinets. It took them one day to paint what they did for us. I like that they have good service. The owner comes out to give us bids personally. They use good quality paint and it lasts a long time.

My initial contact with Protek occurred with obtaining an estimate from Kory Cheatham. I appreciated his professionalism and attention to detail with which he explained the work to be done on our home. The work consisted of adding guttering, repair of damaged wood around two windows and the garage plus painting the exterior trim. When the work was completed, there were no surprises in the invoice. We were very pleased with their approach to the project. Prior to starting the work, Kory reviewed all of the work that would be done in a walk around the house to make sure his crew knew the scope of work. The crew was very professional in their desire to accomplish not just a good job but a great job on the wood repair and painting. A plus for their attitude about minimizing paint over-spray onto the brick was the use of wider masking paper for than others use. As a result, the over-spray was practically non-existent. Upon completion of the work, Kory and I reviewed the work done for completion and cleanliness. When the crew left, there was no trash, spilled paint or residue of any kind left behind. Protek's team did an outstanding job and more that satisfied my expectations. I was so satisfied with the quality of their work that I engaged them for an interior painting project. This should convey that I heartily recommend Protek as a contractor for guttering, wood repair work or painting.

When I called Korey he had lost my estimate so he came back and he did find that the "copy" I had was his original. But he had to go over everything again since it had been awhile. At this time we discussed the siding and decided to replace it completely. That did increase the price from $2600 to $3100 and he found another 3 items to replace at at $150. His workers came at about 9-9:30, a little later than I thought but they stayed late until 6-7pm. They worked hard & completed the job in 2 days. Korey came out and made sure everything was done perfect & all cleaned up. He had them take some wires down that were no longer needed and remove 2 satellite dishes on the roof. He had them put another coat of paint on a brand new back door. It probably could have used another but looked good. The only other complaint ,which is small , was when they put the jam & trim in the garage door we couldn't open it.. A metal piece on the garage door was catching the siding so it took some off when we got it open. . But the paint job was great and Korey made sure all materials and old siding & nails picked up.

They did a great job. It took quite awhile to get orginal bid, but it was worth the wait. I have already recommended them to two neighbors.

The house looked good initially. However 3 months later the paint was chipping and peeling, the caulking was coming detached around molding in front of house. The Siding was damaged. When I called Protex(Jared) he insisted this was normal and would not admit the siding was damaged. I said to him if the siding had problems previously why didn't you noticed this before your sub contracted crew power washed my house. He said "Well can I make a mistake". Well my siding had no problems until the paint job was done. The siding was repainted in the damaged areas and recaulked, by a different crew than originally painted the house. I will never use Protek again very disappointed in the paint job and repair, also the professionalism and the fact they contract out the work, none of the painters work directly for them. You run the risk of the painter going out of business or discontuing work with Protek, extremely disappointed and out $2500.00 dollars.

I followed up the next day with an email and Kory replied that he had several ahead of me and would try to get it to me later that day. I waited an entire week and then emailed him again. It has now been 24 hours and he has not responded. It is a shame because we were probably going to go with him. Not sure why he took the time to come out and do the measuring if he was never going to provide the quote. Disappointing.

They spent an hour measuring everything and then they never followed up. I called and tried to get someone to call me back and they never did. They seemed very nice and very professional. I was really surprised that I never heard back from them. I would not use them in the future.

Protek was very prompt to come out and give bid. It was detailed and the lowest price of the three we got. I already knew they had a great rating with Angie's list, and they left a packet with an extensive list of homes they had painted, so we gave them the job. Scheduling was easy, they showed up on time, and they replaced a lot of rotten wood before painting. They were very good about following up to make sure we were completely satisfied. The house looks great and we are 100% happy! Definitely recommend Protek.

The initial contacts and estimates and overall customer management was done by Jared - he was complete, empathetic (we started and stopped over several months as some illness or disaster affected my family - good to note that estimates remained consistent throughout), and the estimates given matched the final totals. Any exceptions (as I changed paint colors, for example, requiring more paint to be purchased or added surfaces to paint) were discussed ahead of time, estimates given and I approved. There were no surprises. As my requirements increased, so did the length of time for the job (from two days to three) but again, we discussed and approved. The team that performed the work were polite, professional, unobtrusive, and there was always a person onsite that communicated perfectly well with me (Jimmy and Bernardo, for example). Both Jimmy and Bernardo made adjustments as i requested it (for example, can we do this room first, so that I can review the color?) and were really polite as I repeatedly asked questions ("are you SURE you are going to fix that?") and all the work I requested had been complete by the end. I did find that having paint cards with sample ahead of time, with extra to give to them and some to keep for me, was helpful. Also,I went around the house early in the morning of the last day and put painters tape pieces on any walls that I thought needed re-touching and reviewed it with Bernardo when they got in. They arrived between 0830 and 0930 (as we discussed ahead) and stayed late to work (Jared had explained that they would stay as late as I let them, so I never asked them to leave - even though my kids might have preferred it! - and one night they stayed until about 915pm). I would like to add that I was REALLY impressed and glad that the furniture and household was so securely taped and covered. As a result, there was no paint dripped in odd places. If, during the three days, we needed something from the kitchen, I opened the plastic to get it. This did take some time from them to replace it, but not much, since I was careful to leave most of the plastic in place. There were times when there was no way around the fact that I had to physically go into work and no one was with them. But you could tell that they kept working and nothing unusual or worrisome occurred. I would definitely recommend them.

The paint job itself was very good. The painters did a good job of covering everything so as not to get paint on the carpet or furniture. The issue was with the company manager. Before the work was done, he seemed to be very competent and friendly. He said that I wouldn't need to pay anything up front and that I would only pay at the completion of the project when I was fully satisfied. I had shared with him that we were planning on staying in the house for the duration of the service. He had said that it wouldn't be a problem even though everything would be covered in plastic. He also shared that he was the only point of contact for this project which meant that if I had any questions or concerns I needed to call him. On the first day the workers proceeded to cover up the entire house top and bottom floor all at once. They covered up the beds, shower stalls, toilets, sinks, the entire kitchen, doors, EVERYTHING! I called the manager to ask him how we were supposed to stay in the house if the beds (which had heavy furniture on them), bathrooms, and kitchen were covered up. He said to simply tear apart the plastic from the areas that we needed but he stressed at least 3 times in the conversation that whatever we tore apart, the painters would have to tape up the next day and that it would cause an inconvenience for the painters and that it may even delay the project. If you've ever seen the movie E.T., there is a scene near the end of the movie that looked exactly like our house. The manager did not to a good job of fully explaining just how inconvenient it would be to us to stay overnight in our house with it all taped up. Even the back door where we let our dog out to the backyard was taped up. He was more concerned about himself and his workers than for us. Since he did mention 3 TIMES that us tearing up areas of our house would inconvenience his painters and possibly delay the estimated time of completion, I decided to take my family to a nearby hotel for the evening. I attempted to call him 2 more times that evening to let him know that we were not able to stay in the house and that I needed to talk with him about how this issue would be resolved meaning him paying for our hotel stay since he did not fully disclose the extent to which our house would be inaccessible to us. I called him the next morning at around 7:30am and still no response. I left a message. I wanted to get this issue resolved before his painters came in at 9:00am just in case we needed to terminate the service. His workers showed up at our house at 9;00am but he didn't call me back until 9:30am. He said he was the point of contact but it took 3 phone calls to get a hold of him. If he's the point of contact then he needs to be available to his clients till his workers are done with their job for the day. His explanation for not getting back to me was that he doesn't answer the phone past 5pm. What??? His workers work sometimes till 9:00pm at night but he clocks out at 5:00pm? What if there's a concern or even WORSE an emergency and the client can't get a hold of him? If he wants to check out at 5pm then his workers need to stop working by that time as well. I told him what had happened and that we had to spend the night in a hotel room which I was not planning on doing. I practically had to spell it out for him that I wanted his company to pay for our hotel stay since he did not do a very good job of letting us know exactly what we were getting into. Had he simply explained way back in the very beginning how inaccessible our house would become and that if we chose to stay at a hotel, it would be on us to pay for it and not the company's responsibility then I would have been fine with that. It was that he NEVER fully explained the extent of what was expected. He argued with me for a good 15-20 minutes over the phone, saying that he would not pay for our hotel stay. I told him that I was terminating the service and that I wanted his painters out of my house immediately. He then threatened me and said that I would have to pay for whatever his painters did so far because I was under contract. This is when I reminded him of what he had shared with me at the very beginning which was that I wouldn't pay a dime unless I was fully satisfied. I was NOT fully satisfied! That's when he finally got quiet, thought about it, and agreed to pay for our hotel stay. It blows my mind that this individual has received so many "A" ratings on Angie's List. He was squabbling over the cost of our hotel stay when he was getting over $3,000.00 from us? As I mentioned before, the painters did a good job but if you want an all around great experience with a manager that is thorough, professional, and easy to get a hold of, this company is NOT it.

Everything with the estimate went smoothly. Had some problems with communication and getting scheduled to do the work. Almost went with another company to do the job. But, things got back on track and we got it set up. The painting crew was fantastic. The job was more than they anticipated as some of the texture to be sanded was extremely thick, but they still accomodated last minute additions to the original agreement. The final product far exceeded our expectations given the work that needed to be done. They were very careful to limit dust and the clean up was exceptional.
