Protek Painting & Roofing

It was extremely stressful. We could not leave the house even for a meal without coming back to find window treatments stuffed in closets with our clothes, our brand new high-end toilets were not protected and had to have the lids replaced, phone calls to the supervisor during the project were not returned. When we finally did hear from him, we were reprimanded by him for not getting in touch on decisions we had to make as the crew went along. Areas of the house were painted completely without getting our approval first for color, paint cans were left open over night inside our home (we were living there). We were told we would have a full crew everyday but there were days when only two painters showed up, and most of the week they were there for only a few hours. Only a couple of the painters spoke any English which was broken at best; we were left trying to communicate with them.

We're very satisfied! The owner, Kory Cheatham, is great. He spent over 3 hours with us before the job started, going over everything in detail. He knows painting very well, and had lots of good advice. Kory has the best interest of the customer at heart - he's realistic in telling you what will and won't work, and what he can and can't do. The crew was professional. The crew chief was friendly and knowledgeable and (most important) never complained at my requests. The job took longer than anticipated, but Kory didn't complain or try to charge me more than originally agreed to. The job took longer because the wood paneling in the living room required more work than expected - 2 coats of primer, 2 coats of sprayed paint, plus hand-detailing. The crew left the house perfectly clean. I had a few minor requests when we did the final walk-through, and Kory and his team did the work happily without complaining. I highly recommend Protek.

Kory is very hard to get in touch with. It took several calls to get him, once he came out he was very detailed and up front. He is very personable. He was able to schedule the job, and had his crew out in about 1 1/2 weeks to get the job done. When Kory stopped by after the job was finished to go over the work, my husband spoke to him about doing some interior painting, he said he would call to schedule, but we've never heard from him since then, that was a month ago.

It went very well. Kory was a pleasure to deal with from first contact to the end of the job, a true professional full of helpful suggestions. The crew who did the work were courteous, prompt, and meticulous, resulting in a beautiful, like-new appearance. I especially like how thorough they were in caulking joints and replacing boards that were starting to decay. For any future painting work, they are my preferred company by far.

Kevin recommend picking from the gutter colors so we could match with the rest of the house which is a nice feature. They extended the downspouts out farther enough so it lined up with our edging.

Our garage used to be a different color, and we asked them to paint it the same color as the rest of the house. When I got home, I realized how much I didn't like it, and they came back out and painted the garage white for no additional charge. They were definitely reasonable in the price. They left us paint if we needed to make touch ups. They only thing that they did poorly was caulking the windows.

Attention to detail was remarkable. Showed up on time, did quality work for a fair price.

I used Protek about a year ago to paint the interior of my house. They did a pretty good job that time so I called them again to get an estimate for painting some other rooms. After a week I called them back because I had not received the estimate. Whomever I spoke to said she was sorry and would email it to me. I confirmed the email address with her (this was the second time I did that). I never received the email. I called again one week later because I still had not received the estimate. I confirmed the email address, which she had written down wrong from the last time. Still no estimate. I called a third time and no one answered. I will not be using them again.

It was a very pleasant experience. The owner is a very nice man who was concerned with my home. If I saw anything I didn't like, they got it fixed right away. They were on time and worked long. They repaired all kinds of things on the outside of the home, and went above and beyond what was expected. The best part was, they didn't charge me until the job was done.

How many companies are there were the owner handles their teams personally? Kory not only checked on his team, monitored their productivity, but also stayed in communication with me before, after, and once during the job. This company is like having a family member painting in your home (but does a much better job)! I really appreciate the good, prompt, and courteous service.

We don't know why he never gave us an estimate. We discussed when we might want to do the work, and I told him within a few weeks. A few days after he came out to do the estimating, I contacted his office to find out when we'd get the estimate. His receptionist said the company was in the midst of moving its offices, so they were a little backed up. So I waited a few more days;nothing. My husband called a few days later. Nothing. I called a few days later. Nothing. Finally the receptionist asked if I'd like to speak with Kory on his cell phone. So I did. He answered, sounded harried, said he'd been busy and was behind. Then he said he'd look at my file that evening and prepare an estimate. Sounded like he didn't even remember who we were. We never heard from him. To rub salt in the wound, we noticed a week or so later that Protek was doing painting work at another home in our neighborhood. Go figure. We found another company that ended up doing a great job.

Very professional presentation. Communicated all steps that would be taken to complete the job. I hired this company over two others even though the bid was not the lowest. I was confident the work would be done correctly.

They did a great job near the end of the week/job the crew seemed a little sluggish but that would be my only complaint.

Mr. Cheatham arrived on time, reviewed the work to be done and gave a written estimate on the spot. I called the next day to schedule the work. He suggested purchasing a couple of quarts of different shades of the color I was planning to use and painting an area of the walls with each shade. I am glad he did as I decided to go a shade lighter than I had planned. A 4 person crew arrived as scheduled. They were polite and professional. They were neat and paid attention to detail. Due to a couple of unanticipated problems, the job took a day longer than planned but they solved the problems promptly and didn't leave until the job was done. An excellent experience overall.

Wanted to hire them to paint the interior and exterior based on this list. It took a week and several calls to get the first quote which was uncompetitive/ very high. Came out and re-evaluated and were supposed to provide an updated bid but they never followed up.

Protek was exceptional in all respects. The workers were polite and helpful. They caulked every exterior seam/opening that needed sealing; they covered all areas that needed protection from the paint; and they were prompt and skillful in their work. They not only paint, but do carpentry and drywall work. I would hire them again without question. Ask for Jose's team - they are excellent. I thought their cost was reasonable for the height and type of areas they painted, which had very high ceilings.

We've lived in this home over 24 years, hired several companies for a variety of home improvement jobs, and Protek is the best we've experienced! From the estimator to the painting and carpentry crew, everyone was very professional and very courteous. The crew worked continually from early morning to evening each day until the job was finished, and the estimator/supervisor was always available, either by phone or on the premises. If something needed to be touched up, it was dealt with immediately. The property was left in good order at the end of each day. The owners run a very efficient business, and we would definitely hire this company again. Thanks to them, our home is 70 years young!

They were very professional, courteous, accommodating and expedient. They painted the entire home within two and a half days, using four men at a time. The price was very reasonable for the quality of service and paint that we got. The price includes the different colors we used for each room and the also accents they painted.

I contacted Protek & they came to my home to see what had to be done. They said they would fax over an estimate, but I never received anything. I will not contact this company; this is not the type company I wish to deal with, especially when they do not follow up on their commitments.

I dealt with a Mark Jones, who was very professional and worked hard to help me figure out how I wanted the paint done and also even helped with the color selection. He was extremely polite, as was the crew who did the actual work. They were in and out as fast as they could be. It was a great experience.

The representative called the next morning after leaving a message and set someone out to review the scope and prepare an estimate. Mark was on time and professional. The estimate was prepared quickly, they started when they said they would, and were thorough, clean and did a great job. Changes mid-stream were "no problem." I would definitely recommend them.

Very impressed. Rep Mark Jones came over to give a quote the day after I called. His crew started work the next day. Finished the entire job in one day, and two hours the next day. Mark was very responsive to our needs, and made sure that we were happy with the work. The paint crew was professional and experienced.

THE FIRST DAY THEY DIDN'T START PAINTING UNTIL 1:00 P.M. WHEN THEY SAID THEY WOULD BE THERE AT 8:30 A.M. OTHER THAN THAT, THEY DID A FANTASTIC JOB. THEY FINISHED IN 1 1/2 DAYS (THEY STAYED UNTIL 8:00 P.M. THE FIRST DAY BECAUSE THEY WERE LATE AND WERE ALMOST FINISHED THE FIRST DAY). I LEFT THEM ALONE IN THE HOUSE AND NOTHING DISAPPEARED. THEY DID A FANTASTIC JOB.
