The service technician that came out informed us after evaluating our hot water heater that he could not take a credit or debit card and it was cash or check only. Luckily I had a check to use. I mentioned that they might want to inform people at the time the appointment was made that a credit card was not an option. He said they ALWAYS tell their customers that. I nicely responded that I was not told that when I called, but it didn't matter because I had a check. At that time he got very snippy and said he didn't believe me. His reaction made me feel very uncomfortable so I dropped the issue. They were supposed to get information to our home warranty company within 24 hours It took them 5 days and several phone calls from me before they made a report. Every time I called I was on hold for 5-10 minutes while they searched for information on our service call. When they did forward information to our home warranty company it was not correct and did not match the write up on the invoice that was given to us on the day of the evaluation. We complained to our home warranty company who arranged to send out another company for a second service call. We also asked our home warranty company to forward our negative experience to their contractor relations department.

After the first visit to diagnose a leaking shower-faucet mixing valve, they took 5 weeks to find the new part, failing to return my calls on numerous occasions. When they finally arrived with the new valve, the technician first asked if he could borrow some tools (from me, the homeowner.) He first installed the valve incorrectly (water not passing at all) and then attempted to "muscle" the valve around, before remembering that the main water valve should be turned off first. Upon re-installation, and quickly cycling the faucet on and off to check for leaks, he presented me with the receipt and took off quickly. Upon my re-examination, I found both screws holding the faucet backing plate to be backed out half-way. I further found that the valve mixed in no hot water, no matter how long you waited. On top of that, the brass fixture now has numerous deep nicks and scratches. A "real" plumber later rectified the situation in 45 minutes (with his own tools.)
Description of Work: Attempted valve repair.

Called home warranty company (AHS) to flush water heater and was informed by plumber that such maintenance is not covered under the contract but that they would perform the service for $105. Contractor arrived on time and took a look at the water heater and refused to perform the maintenance unless I did not hold him responsible for any damage caused by his work due to the fact that the water heater was 8 years beyond its useful life. I declined his services and he gave me an estimate for replacing the water heater, which seems fair but I am vetting. Overall, I was disappointed and while the contractor continued to state that "I do not receive commission" on selling new water heaters, it is convenient that he refuses to do the maintenance work and then tries to sell a new water heater. I was not charged for the service call only because they were in the area and otherwise I would have been charged for them to come out, which I found pretty ridiculous since they did not perform the requested service. Likely will not use this company again... unless AHS requires it.

AHS home warranty, sent J&K in response to my report of water (below a bathroom) leaking from the upstairs, through the ceiling in the living room. J & K, quickly expedited the report once they realized water was still leaking and causing additional damage to my ceiling. The plumber's first guess at where the leak was coming from, was accurate and he quickly fixed it......even cleaned up when he was finished. He was knowledgeable, professional, fast, and explained everything to me. I was very impressed and would not hesitate to contact them again for plumbing needs.
Description of Work: J & K assessed cause of water leaking through my ceiling. Pulled an upstairs toilet to repair the seal, and also replaced the hardware inside the tank. Leak fixed!

Even if AHS decides to send them out for any future plumbing issues, I will decline their services and ask for another plumber....Please do the same!!!! My home warranty (AHS), (they always send the top notch companies right?), had J&K come to look at my toilet at the base where the toilet meets the floor. The technician looked at it, moved it , the toilet wobbled slightly and declared that the floor was not level, and would require to dig into the foundation to level it out to fix the problem. He sent the claim into AHS and of course they declined to fix the problem because the foundation was not even. I received a letter from AHS and they stated that they would not cover the repair work because that is not a part of the contract. Since then, I had another plumber of my choosing, Ernie's plumbing, which has great reviews on Angie's List come out to give me a free in home estimate. The technician actually pulled the toilet up and saw that the flange was broken in 2 places. That is why it was leaking. He took the flange out, replaced it with a new one, and voila, problem solved. I had top spend $260 of my own money to get this simple issue fixed, when the other tech was trying to jack the price up for AHS not to cover, and then for me to hopefully spend thousands because of the fraudulent determination of an uneven foundation.

J&K came out for three plumbing issues and were chosen by my home warrantee company. The tech/plumber (they get offended if you call their people technicians) was friendly enough. However the critical repair was to the kitchen sink and they needed parts. Tech left. For the next two months I called and left messages (never returned) and my home warrantee company called to try and get them to supply a diagnosis code so that the repair could be approved and paid for. They finally answered the calls of my home warrantee company (AMS) only after escalating to vendor relations. They promised multiple times that they would supply the code "today" but never did. After two months they finally did supply a code, incorrect, that the plumber could not make a diagnosis (he made a diagnosis on site), and the odessy is still continuing. I have given up and am going to buy the parts myself. My warrantee company was fulfilling the terms of our agreement, and I hold J&K responsible for failing to get the code back, and saying that they were going to submit the code and then not doing it for weeks. I was out my service call fee, but mainly months of waiting.

The entire service call was perfect! The lady that took my service request on the phone was cheerful, upbeat and professional. They called to let me know they were coming, showed up when they said they would. The service rep fixed everything (and went out of his way to fix the leaking outside faucet) and left everything clean. It cost exactly what he said it would. I only wish all service calls were like this!! I would highly recommend this company to anyone.
Description of Work: They repaired the toliet and replaced the garbage disposal (through AHS). Also repaired an outside water faucet that was leaking.

I have a lot of construction experience and I believe they overcharged us. I came up with $188 but they charged us $500. Their attitude and customer service were rude. I think it was a rip-off.

I have not seen a more bizarre plumbing company in my entire life. The technician seemed more like a junior attorney put on a case, who has no idea what he is doing. He was continuously calling his supervisor on the phone as to what he should tell me, and was coming up with a long list of things that may go wrong or potential liabilities. He could not perform the work. I would not recommend this company to anybody.

Obviously it not go well.
Description of Work: J&K Plumbing was sent y my home warranty company to unplug a clogged drain in my master bathroom which had backed up the shower, bathtub and sink. After 1-1/2 hours the serviceman was unable to unclog the drain and said it needed to be cleaned through the roof vent, which was not covered by my home warranty policy. I called another plumber, who used the same wall vent and cleared the clog in approximately three minutes.
