Hail damage, June 1 2018, had me decide to use Epik for my insurance claim. What a mistake. They went back and forth trying to extort more out of the insurance company. This was not my first claim. Sean Ferfort fought to extort as much possible out of my insurance, beyond what I thought was acceptable. I did not expect to be on the side of the insurance company. When his unreasonable attempts failed, he decided to "take the job anyway" so "save me" from losing my deposit to him (as was written into the contract). They promptly got on my roof and punctured an AC line in the attic. The comment from the company was "can’t be held responsible for this issue" and this was backed up by verbiage in the contract. Basically, if they break something, their contract absolves them of responsibility. They further extorted another $750 out of me as they could not get it out of the insurance company. After I submitted to paying the cost of something they broke, I continued to have problems with my AC. The work was completed Jan 2019. Twice that summer, my AC went out. Today I had my regular AC guy out to repair the damage. He claims both indoor and outdoor units need to be replaced, as well as likely the line from the attic, as "someone" put a non-standard product into my system. This is a company that actively demeans and ridicules it's own clients to it's subcontractors. One of the painters called the owner, Sean Ferfort, on speakerphone with myself present in the same room. I caught a number of disparaging comments along the lines of "how do you like this @$$hole client" before the sub hung up. I write this review now as this company likely maliciously set up my AC to fail as "punishment" for standing up to my right to decent customer service, integrity from my selected contractors and value for my money. Oh, and also, I continue to deal with a leak in my kitchen from a side gable that they did not deal with during the initial claim though they did repaint the interior damage from the leak. Do Not Use This Company!

Response from Epik Construction Services
Hey [Member Name Removed], it’s unfortunate to hear you are having some issues with your HVAC unit. After reviewing your comments I'm a bit confused. The only items we requested of your insurance company were items that the City of Carrollton requires whenever you install a new roofing system. After you stated your discomfort with these requests, we did agree to go ahead and have the additional work completed at [Member Information Removed] cost to you. Before we install a new roof we always inspect in the attic. This is due to the fact that, while City Code mandates that nothing should be within 4 inches of the decking, people will still place electrical, gas, and/or plumbing lines within this area. This code is in place as it is extremely likely that anything within this area will be punctured by roofing fasteners and/or nails. This is exactly what happened in your situation, the line was between the roof sheathing and your interior drywall (an area that can’t be inspected from the attic). While this is generally covered by your insurance, you informed us that you didn't feel comfortable talking to them about this. While our contract does in fact say this is an excluded item, as we can't reasonably be expected to see through walls, we split the cost with you in the sake of customer service. When the HVAC company came out, he verified that the line was previously installed improperly (violating IRC & IPC - 1101.3 & M1308.2), repaired the puncture, installed a nail plate to stop future nails from creating more punctures, and recharged your unit. To be clear we didn't install or replace any part(s) of your system. As for the leak you did notify us of a leak on 5/22/2019, our production manager was out to your home on the 24th, where it was believed the leak had been taken care of. We since followed up for a few months after this without a response from you. However, if you are experiencing any issues with any of our work, please reach out at your earliest convenience so that we may be able to assist you.

Roughy 4.5 months To complete. Or rather a negotiated settlement. A sub contractor that went 8 working days with no contact (didn’t show up or call). Damaged to new appliances and cabinetry over a exhausting and difficult endeavor to work with this company .. Use caution if considering this company .. I would not recommend based on my over all experience..

The only problem was a small area-back porch--that they forgot to use the blower on. Otherwise they have been very professional and high quality

Description of Work: Epik Construction replaced my roof, repaired internal damage caused by roof leaks and replaced my fence that was damaged by the storm. I was really happy with the level of knowledge the employees had. They spent a lot of time reviewing the damage in detail with me and they were very thorough with explaining the insurance process and timeline. I would (and have) recommended Epik to my friends and family.
