Let me begin by saying, that from the very first contact with this company, and its owner, Mr. Silva, I have never been treated with such kindness, professionalism, and courtesy. He was always prompt, when he said he would be at my home at a certain time he was; if he said he would reply with a follow up email or phone call within a certain time frame, he did. He was never hurried or impatient. Now to my home. This roof is multi level, both with flat sections and pitched. It is a stucco house and was built in the 70's. This house has had leaks since we purchased it over 20 years ago. We have had reputable roofers redo the whole thing, guarantee their work, and after a bijillion calls, finally get so upset they just didn't answer any more, because the thing still leaked....we tried the friend thing...'he knows what he's doing, trust me', to the mom and pop thing....well you get the picture, and nothing worked- this has gone on for a long time. At this point I had no idea who to trust, who would tell me the truth, and who would just take my money, like the last guy to the tune of 10,000. I logged onto Angies list kind of as a last ditch effort, to try and find something or someone that sounded like they could help, as at this point it was raining more IN my house that OUTSIDE of my house, and I am not kidding. I stumbled upon Mr. Silva, and A & V Roofing Company and emailed him after reading all of the reviews, thinking what the heck, let him just take a look. Match made in heaven! He came out, told me that he could help, but I still felt a bit skeptical, as I had heard this a thousand times. We took a chance, and had him do his thing. Boy am I glad I did! These past storms a miracle occurred. For the first time in over 20 years NOT ONE DROP OF WATER FELL IN MY HOUSE!! I had begun to dread the rain, because I had to put pots and pans all over everywhere to catch the water. Now I can enjoy it. I learned that the coating on the flat part of my roof he applied was TPO membranes that are ENERGY STAR®-rated and Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC)-certified, and have been directly attributed to a reduction in energy use and cooling costs for buildings in warm, southern climates. TPO membranes are single-ply roof membranes constructed from ethylene propylene rubber. They are designed to combine the durability of rubber with the proven performance of hot-air weldable seams. They have been tested as having excellent resistance to ozone, are algae-resistant, environmentally friendly and safe to install. TPO is highly resistant to tears, impacts, and punctures with good flexibility to allow for building movement. BIG learning process for me and have totally restored my faith in humanity again! Trust this guy 100%, you cannot go wrong. He and his guys had it done in 2 days.

A V Roofing was exceptionally prompt, knowledgeable, friendly and professional in fixing our roof. We called them this morning and they arrived about 1 1/2 hours after our call. The roofer quickly inspected our roof, determined what needed to be done and gave us a free estimate. A shingle that came off was replaced; several other areas were re-nailed and re-tarred. The repairs were promptly and thoroughly completed as promised. We will not hesitate to use them for future roofing needs. We were VERY satisfied with our experience with A V Roofing and highly recommend them to anyone.

Exceptionally prompt on returning voice message and arriving for estimate. Spot on scheduled day and time of service. Technician was courteous, no-nonsense and neat.

The company was very prompt from the first time they came to inspect and provide an estimate to the time they came and did the repairs. The work was done in a matter of hours as they had the right amount of personnel working on the project. After the work was done it looked original as there had never been any issues with the roof. They took all the trash (damage wood, torn/bad shingles) from the work done. Overall an excellent company to hire for your home repairs.

We were very satisfied with the job they did. The first response to our inquiry was very prompt. The work was started the next morning in very timely fashion. The first day was tear off of the old shingles. The crew worked very quickly and were very neat; everything was picked up by the end of the day. Replacing the shingles took a day and a half. Our contact with A & V Roofing, Eddie Silva, was very helpful and checked several times on the crew each day. He also helped with the paperwork for the insurance. Both Eddie and the lead roofer Albert were very willing to answer my questions as the job proceeded. I would be happy to recommend this company.

I called the main number to inquire about pricing a blue roof tarp, the estimator called me back within an hour, and they had someone out here in 2 hours tarping the roof. I appreciate the responsiveness and speed they showed, as I don't know if my roof could have withstood anymore water log. I felt the charge was reasonable and the quality of the job was sufficient for the purpose, it could have been done with more finesse. The workers also happily trimmed a branch that was overhanging the roof and took pictures of the roof when I requested. They were a bit short on wood and asked to use some lumber I had in my yard, but in the interest of having this tarp done before it rains again, I did not mind. I am happy with the work done.

It was an excellent experience, fantastic. Their service, promptness and communication all stood out to me. The price was fantastic.

We chose A & V Roofing because they were closer and friends in town also recommended them. They came out, they were very helpful and they gave us information that we needed and everything was fine. They were prompt, they came when they said they would come, I called them when they were in the area, they were very pleasant and very professional.I did not compare the prices. The estimator told me what a new roof would be, he took pictures and he came down and showed them to me, he said he could not find the leak, he went up a couple of times and we asked him very direct questions and I asked him what he would do if it was his own roof and he said he wouldn't worry about it because water doesn't stay on the roof very long after a rainfall. I thought it was logical, I think they are very straightforward, honest and knowledgeable. I may use them to put a new roof on a property that we have.

Came when they said and charged what they said

The owner was responsive in giving us a bid and working with the insurance company. Once it was approved, the roof was installed within a week. The job was done efficiently with minimal disruption to us. The clean up was well done. We couldn't see a nail or roofing material left behind.

Two skylights were damaged in the 2nd hailstorm that came through here in the Spring of 2012. I was on a long waiting list for skylight replacement. After waiting for several months for the contractor to get to me---there was a lot of damage in the whole area so most people were put on waiting lists---I got a call in Jan. 2013 telling me that I was once again bumped down to the bottom of the list because of "bigger" whole roof replacement jobs. Tired & fed up with waiting, I joined Angies list & liked what I read about A&V roofing. I called them & was greeted by a very pleasant & helpful receptionist who immediately scheduled an appointment for an estimate. The inspector/estimator, Eddie, came out right on time, gave me a very reasonable quote & called me back that same day to give me some very good news: instead of having to order the skylights & wait a week, he had found some locally & asked if I wanted to have them put in the next day. THE NEXT DAY?! I couldn't believe it. I jumped for joy & said, "YES!" The next day, right on time again, George came & installed my 2 skylights & did a very conscientious, excellent job. I am very pleased with the quality of work from A&V & their honesty about the work that needed to be done...& some that didn't. I appreciate that & if & when I need any other work done on my roof (possibly a new roof in a few years), they will be the first ones I call. I just hope that they don't get too busy, considering that I think they will be in high demand once all the reviews are written & people spread the news about how good they are. (I even plan on telling some neighbors about them who are still waiting for some roof repair since last spring). Thank you, A & V!

Work done well and exactly when they said it would be done.

We have a cedar shake roof, and it needs to be replaced, no doubt. It is 35 years old. We have several leaks now. I called A&V to come give me a quote on fixing the worst spots. They came right out (same day), and we went up on the roof. I was advised that the roof was in very bad shape. I then shared that we are planning an addition to the home (in the next 24-36 months), and at that time, we will be reroofing the entire house. After listening, the estimator called over another guy, and we all went over the roof, and mapped out the most pressing repairs. I really appreciated the extra time taken by both Eddie and the roofer. They stayed on the roof with me for longer than needed, listened to what was important to me, and followed the plan. When we agreed on what the project was, it was started the following morning early and finished before 5pm.

Called A and V roofing early in the week after finding them on Angie's list and the rep came soon after. He gave the estimate and said they would be able to start Friday and finish Saturday. They started Thursday mid morning and finished mid afternoon on Friday. The experience was refreshingly professional from start to finish. The attention to detail (painting pipes, metal on sky lights and whirlybirds made their already great job better. Our walk and patio were cleaner when they finished than when they started. You won't go wrong with these guys.

Calling the roofers at A&V Roofing was because of Angie's List. I needed to have a company that was trust worthy and competent. The wait between getting the insurance, the work was delayed due to the area being hit pretty bad with a Tornado and my insurance company taking a terrible long time. I was not here when the work was done but I am very pleased and would recommend these guys to anyone...

They did an excellent job. We had a little bit of trouble originally. When I first contacted them, it was April. I think the paperwork got lost. We were on vacation for a month. We started from scratch again. They came out, did the job, and they were very good company. We would call and they would let me know that we were on the list. If it hadn't been for the hail storm, we would have probably got the work done sooner. They would drop things off the roof and someone good around and pick it all up. They were very clean. I think they were consistent with what everyone else was paying.

After looking on Angie's list I called him to give me a quote on my other home in McAllen. After exchanging initial emails he asked for a copy of the insurance report for the measurements and discription. After complying with his request twice he did not contact me again. After twelve days of not having the courtesy of replying I sent him an email and asked him not to bother responding. One of two things happened they have to much business and he didn't want to do it or what he wanted was what the insurance company was going to pay. Either way he didn't have the professionalism nor the courtesy to contact me. A & V did contact me and was very courteous and apologetic about me falling through the cracks. I would give him another opportunity if it arises.

Hail storm ruined our just over one year old roofing job April of 2012 along with every home in north side of town. Quick responce of insurance company got me in early on with AV roofing who had just done the job that was damaged. Responce came quicker than we were prepared for and we scrambled to get ready for the tear out crew. Since all that was necessary was to remove shingles and replace paper barrier & shingles, the job went really fast and they were driving off after the third day on premise. Paint was done later as only one person was needed for that. The crew that left here, went to my parents house and did theirs just as quickly. I felt we were luckey as many homes are just now getting done after three months. Price of materials had gone up anyway and then the sudden demand put a real strain on suppliers I'm sure.

They responded quickly with a bid that was a good price for a high quality roof. They worked well with me and my insurance company and completed the work in record time.

We got an estimate within 24 hours of our first contact with A&V Roofing (5% discount for Angie's list members). We were able to communicate through email which was convenient for us. We requested information on a specific type of shingles we learned about in Consumer Report and Mr. Vega was good enough to check with his supplier and found some inventory at reduced price which allowed us to upgrade from 20 year shingles to "lifetime" shingles with higher wind resistance. We didn't make the decision to move ahead with the project for about 4 weeks and when I called back to schedule the job, he was able to get to all the information. He made a special trip to bring the sample board, helped me pick a color, and we were able to schedule the job for the end of the week. The workers arrived with a dump truck at 8:30 am on the day and worked hard until 5:30 pm. The job took 2.5 days and they cleaned up each day before they left. They were considerate in letting me know when they would need to be in the back yard to clean up so I could keep the dogs in the house while the gates were open. My husband went up on the roof to check it out and said it looked great with the heavier shingles, vents well sealed, and the new material on the patio roof as agreed. Mr. Vega also came back to check on the job. We found one plastic strip in the yard after they were done. Pretty amazing as we know from personal experience roofing a garage, that those things fly everywhere. Amazing job. Of course, it's only been a few days but it's nice knowing that job is done and we have a partner in keeping the roof over our heads since there is a guarantee on the labor and the materials. In my last conversation with Mr. Vega I asked him about solar panels. He said A&V Roofing has done a couple low heat shingle roofs but last time he checked on solar panels they were very expensive and he hasn't had any requests for that type of work. He said he would be interested in learning about it and would be eager to provide the service if there was interest - both in solar panels and in the photovoltaic shingles.

I called A&V to get an estimate to replace my roof. Arnie, the owner came out that same afternoon. They inspected the roof and the eves and porch areas. He recommended 40 feet of ridge vents across the top of the roof. My old roof didn't have that. I had spoken to a friend of mine in the construction business, he told me to ask about getting ridge vents. So when Arnie suggested it, I felt he really cared what was best for us. It would help with the heat build up in the attic. Three other companies gave me estimates and none of them brought it up. Only one other really discussed in detail the work that would be done. Two just came and inspected and sent me a quote. Arnie came across very professional and like he really knew what he was doing. He also showed me area around the house where the wood had slightly seperated from other pieces of wood. He explained if they painted my house that they would calk all those areas first the clean and paint the house. I knew the house neededit and felt the paint estimate was reasonable so I had him do it all. New roof and paint the house. Within 2 1/2 days I had a complete new roof and after weather cleared, I had the house calked and painted in about a day. His workers cleaned up everything around the house each day. They came back to put an extra coat of paint on the areas of new wood. I am very picky about people I hire to do work. I felt I could trust him to do exactly what he said he would do, and I was very happy with the service and quality of work. His price wasn't the cheapest price but he also had a 5% discouint on Angie's List which brought his price within a few hundred dollars of another roofer. I am very happy with my choice to use A&V Roofing and recommend the company.

They were absolutley great. I would swear by them. Thier men are very neat and clean with their work. Their professionalism was great and they always cleaned up well. They took off my old roof and installed a new one. The price was very reasonable and I know several other houses that paid more for a small roof with other companies. I would recomend them to anyone in the future.

We had an extremely good experience from the initial phone call, extimate visit and choosing of materials and colors. Mr. Vega managed to find a light colored shingle of good quality that allowed us to keep the existing trim color. We did choose to change paint texture from flat to semi gloss of the same color making the job easier and pleasing for us. During the stripping of the old material, the crew discovered left over material from two previous jobs I was not aware of and a decision was made to take the extra time and expense to completely remove the old mess. The wife and I agreed to the extra expense that was above the original extimate. We did not know that was there and it was hard to remove. Doing a good job was the important thing in reference to this item. No corners cut on this job. The entire crew was on time, early, cheerful and cordial from day one. Each day they left a clean work area and yard. Lunch was taken off premise allowing us some quiet time also as we were home most of the job.

A & V Roofing was very good because they were easy to find and they came out quickly to tend to our needs. Our house in particular is in a wind storm area so our needs needed to be met in a quick manner. They do a little extra work other than what is required typically with a re-roof. They always put in 6 nails as opposed to the standard 4 nails. That shows me that they care when they go above and beyond the call of duty. They offerred me contact information so that I could reach them whenever I needed them. There was a tropical storm headed toward us and they dropped everything they were doing in order to take care of our roof before the storm hit. The storm didn't turn out that bad but they finished our roof through the storm and have no leaks since then.

I never saw Mr. Vela, the owner/manager, as he sent one of his workmen to do all the estimating. When I had a question that the worker could not answer, he would dial up Mr. Vela on his cell phone and hand me the phone. A few days after receiving the initial estimate ($5800), Mr. Vela called and said the worker had not measured the roof correctly and that he had to revise the estimate. The revised proposal was around $10,000. We were a bit peeved at this, since we had already received two other bids that were in the $7,000 range for exactly the same roofing materials and scope of work. We decided at that point not to engage this company's services for our project.
