The crew arrived right on time at 8am. The men introduced themselves and along with them was the sales person Drew Roden. He came with the crew to show them what was discussed during our discussions of what the project was to entail. Drew stayed about 45 minutes and the crew removed our old system and installed the new system including dampers and ductwork applicable. They completed the project around 3pm, cleaned up the job site and departed. I recommend Performance Heat and Air to anyone considering a new HVAC system.

The service was expedient, same day service. The repairman found a loose wire in the inside unit; he replaced the twist-on cap that was holding it in place. He found two broken wires inside the outside unit; he stripped back insulation on the two broken wires and replaced the caps on them. He taped the group of wires to a secure part of the unit so they would not be moving around and break again. We were charged only $69 for the service call, which is all right. HOWEVER, We Were Charged An Additional $45 for miscellaneous wiring. I saw him use a couple of plastic wire caps and a couple of feet of 1" electrical tape. I can buy caps like he used (I have some) in a package for under $1, a roll of electrical tape identical to what he used can be bought for under $1. I would think the service fee should cover the cost of the materials he used. I think we were bent over and hosed.

Called on a Saturday to request an estimate on a replacement system. They recommended sending out a Tech to see what kind of problem(s) what we were having. At first we said no because, during our regular maintenance check, we had already been told by the AC company we have been using that they system needed many repairs & it would be better to replace it. They had given us a quote and despite their "A" rating with the BBB, we just wanted to get a second quote before handing over that much money. The lady on the phone set up the meeting for Tuesday. After thinking it over, I proceeded to look deeper at the reputation of ALL the companies I was considering. This turned out to be extremely eye opening! So on Monday I called to request a technician come out for a general "tune up" or "preventive maintenance" before the sales person came. She told me she would call me when she could get someone heading our way, but it could be the next day. Since our AC seems to be working well, I told her that was fine. In the meantime, I had also decided it would be best to get a third opinion in case there was any discrepancy between what we were being told by the two companies. Paying three times for the same service may seem like a waste, but it was how I felt we would get the most peace of mind. The money turned out to be well spent. She kept her word, and a tech was actually here the same day. He arrived just as my "third opinion" was packing up to leave, which was a little awkward for a brief spell. I explained our situation & asked him to assess the condition of our system. I didn't tell him what the guys who were leaving had said, only that we wanted to make sure our system really wasn't worth repairing. He took 30 minutes or so to check the attic and the outdoor portions, then told me he found the Freon was a little low, less than a pound, otherwise everything looked good. NOTHING else was wrong. Guess what... that is almost exactly what the guys who had just left said; Freon not quite full, down about half a pound. All other readings were within the normal +/- range. I greatly appreciate the honesty displayed by the technician, who was very professional. I also offer praise to the super nice lady who handles the phone for Performance Heat and Air. I would not hesitate to call them again, in fact I plan to use them in the future for our next check-up. As for the company that thought I was gullible enough to spend $14K to $20K to replace an 8-year old system, one we had paid almost that much for, Shame on YOU!! Let me close this with the following suggestion: If you see a van sporting an effigy of Einstein, YOU would be the genius if you elected to run the other way.

Job went very smoothly. I've known the owner for some time and he's very reliable and communicates well. He is professional and worked very quickly. I thought it would be a full day job, but only took 3 hours. He had proficient workers and cleaned up very well after the job was complete.
