Overall we were very pleased with this company. They responded quickly, and don't forget this was Thanksgiving week. Doug was very pleasant to work with and very professional. .
Description of Work: On Monday, November 21, 2011, we experienced a plumbing problem inside our home. After flushing the toilet, the water came down the pipes, the toilet downstairs over-flowed onto the bathroom floor, the hallway outside the bathroom, and under the bathroom walls into the kitchen and dining areas and underneath the staircase. Come to find out, the city sewage pipe was offset which offset our pipe, and well, there we go. The city repaired their pipe so hopefully no more incidents like this one. It was a horrible ordeal! That day, we called First Class Cleaning, and I spoke with Doug and explained to him what happened. He came to our house the next day. On Tuesday, November 22, 2011, Doug arrived at our home on time and was very pleasant and professional. He explained what type of work would be involved and gave us an estimate on the cost. (In his estimate, he deducted the 42.00 for the Angie's List cleaning coupon for 100 SF of carpet.) He went to work and with a special tool that recorded the dampness in the walls, he removed the base boards from a few walls, then drilled several holes into the bottom of the walls so that air could get through, as the water had traveled behind the walls. It was not deep water, but enough to cover the flooring. He said there was more water under the stairway, although not very deep. He then pulled up some of the carpet in the affected areas and hooked up four industrial fans and placed in several areas to dry the drywall. He came back later that evening with 3 more fans and placed them in the remaining affected areas to ensure proper coverage for drying. He informed us that "all" the fans would need to be kept on for three days, 24-7. It was very noisey, but had to be done. On Monday, November 28, 2011, Doug and a co-worker arrived at our home on time, checked the dampness of the walls to ensure they were dry, removed the fans, replaced the pad under the affected carpet areas, sprayed the affected carpet areas with a special solution, and then cleaned the affected carpet areas. He asked me where I wanted him to clean and I asked him to clean the small living room area next to the main affected area (bathroom). I then asked him if he had planned to clean the stairway, as we had walked (many times) through the main affected areas and then up and down the stairs. He replied that he did not plan on cleaning them, but without hesitation, offered to cleaned the stairway . It took them 2 hours to replace the pad, and re-install and clean the carpet of the affected areas. We have two dogs, and Doug was so nice to them, and he also gave them two big dog biscuits, and gave me a bottle of some special carpet cleaning solution for dog odors. Doug was very pleasant to work with and did an excellent job. I graded the price for this work as a B because I thought it was kind of high for the work they did. They removed only a few base boards (most were small, 1 long, and 1 medium length), replaced a portion of padding down the hallway, and less than half of the dining area, and cleaned and replaced only the carpet of those same affected areas. That's what the estime was for. It could be a very competive price, I don't know, as I wouldn't have anything to compare it with. So, if you check with some other companies you can compare the price. But, I didn't have time to do that. This was an emergency situation. Due to my concerns, he cleaned the small living area and stairway for no extra charge. So I thought that was very nice of him. But those areas did need to be cleaned because they had been affected by our walking through the main affected areas.
