It went great. Landscape and path look great. I've received compliments. 6 month plant guarantee if anything dies. He stays in touch after work completed to ensure plants take. Very responsive to questions/requests.
Description of Work: Assisted with design of backyard landscape, selection of plants/trees and complete installation of beds, stonework, crushed granite pathway going from back through gate connecting to front sidewalk. He also connected me with an irrigation guy to modify my sprinklers to accommodate the new designed landscape.

Jim (and Brian) have been great in understanding our desire to go as native and organic as possible. They've set up beds, and returned to clean them up when we neglected them. They understand our desire to make the yard a place for our kids to play and learn. Jim surprised us in the kitchen garden with a stone nook with "windows" for the kids to enjoy watching the garden grow. (The cats like it, too.) Specifics? 1.) Numerous flower beds throughout front and back yards. Set up and tweaked over time. 2.) Fabulous raised-bed, dry stack kitchen garden with drip irrigation throughout. Worked with our desire to utilize Square Foot Gardening principles (and build trellises over walkways.) Much oohing and ahhing from visitors. Drip lines allow it to thrive when we vacation, and because we'd never remember to water regularly. Approx.150 sq feet. magnet for kids in neighborhood. Magnet ditto the flower beds, which allow for kids to play IN, not just around. As we wish. 3.) Corrected poorly laid (by someone else) stone borders in front yard. In the beginning we worked in phases, doing a bit in the spring, a bit in the fall. Working around ideas and schedules. We let things grow for a few years, and are now revisiting some more ideas. This Spring, I was stumped on how to arrange a series of square trellises on the back fence. Brian nailed it. Now they are about to help us with an awkward transition between outdoor living area, and back yard. How to approach this area stumped me. They listened to how we use the space and what we'd like, came up with a great idea and will implement this month. Are they the least expensive? Nope. Been there, done that, too. Find that I prefer working with folks who know what they are doing, and letting them do it. What we especially like? Jim and his crew are professionals. We discuss what we like, what is doable, and listen to their advice. No need to hover while Jim's guys work. Go run your errands, when you return... It will Just. Look. Great.
Description of Work: Have been working with Jim and his crew for seven years, since moving into current residence. They've done everything from initial bed installation, to simple seasonal clean up to construction of dry-stack raised beds for kitchen garden. We have done our garden/yard in phases with Jim, and will continue to do so.

They are so meticulous and so neat with their work. When they leave you have no idea that they had even been there other than everything looking so much better than it was. So they are really careful about the yard and everything around it. They are just fantastic. Jim is the owner. They are so great. They listen exactly to what you want and they are overly accommodating. Their prices are a little bit high, but with the quality of work they do, I think that it is worth it. They did about a $1700 project for us.

Jim Reimann did a great job at first, but then started to overcharge us above and beyond what we had agreed in the proposal. I can't explain why only to say that I assume he took our wealth and status to assume we wouldn't ask questions when being overcharged by $2500. When we asked Jim to explain things he said that he had not overcharged and that the extra week and a half of labor was my responsibility. That had never been discussed and we never received a change order for the extra time nor did we get any heads up that they had gone over. On the contrary when we were chatting he had mentioned that his workers were really dedicated and perfectionists and that they took extra time, and that is sometimes causes him issues if he has another job lined up. So clearly when the job went on for 3 weeks instead of the 1 1/5 we were told I just remembered what he said, that his workers were "perfectionists." Well when we asked Jim to explain why if he calls himself a contractor why he won't stick to his contract or inform us of any overages - because we would not have authorized it. I mean, if I have to pay his labor bill why not just go down to the Home Depot and pick up some migrant workers? It didn't make any sense to us. Especially after paying all our invoices and draws on time and in full. Jim Reimann got really mad at us and said that he would remove the extra charges of $2500. He then sent a revised invoice which we paid. After two weeks and not hearing back and with issues with the work they did (not major, just minor stuff) came up I decided to email him and ask if he was going to come back and fix the issues with the planters and bricks, but he said - and i quote "Not my problem, i don't guarantee anything when it's not paid in full." But we had - he sent the revised invoice and we paid it in full. We have no idea why he is so sensitive other than he anticipated that he could fill a week of work for his guys off our dime - but he has refused to guarantee his work. The interesting thing is the first job we hired Jim Reimann and Cobblestone Gardeners for was for planters - which we paid and full and there was no dispute because he stuck to the contract - but yet he refused to come and take care of the plants that have mites on them. So I am now stuck with loads of dirt that he has yet to remove - which I paid for, and plants that are dying and I have no idea how to fix it. I am forced to have to find a solution elsewhere and can only hope that someone will take the time to read this and and not get duped like we did.
Description of Work: The provider installed xeric and native plants in our in our house as well as build hard scape and planters. The first job that went well was around 12k and the planter job which did not go well was contracted out at 15k - he tried to bill me 19k on that

Response from Cobblestone Gardening Services
Basically [member name removed] is a problem client who is lying because he wanted a $2500.00 discount on his work for no reason. We did not overcharge him. His first lie is in the invoice totals, the container job was $8000, not $12000 and the stone job was $17000, not $19000. The job did not go over by a week and half's labor like he states, if it did that would have totaled $10,000.00, another lie about the numbers by him. I would invite [member name removed] to try home depot's day laborers instead of the quality work that we provided that he stated he loved. I agreed to the $2500 discount because he wasn't going to pay the bill and to get rid of a problem client, and there was never a revised invoice as he states. Everything was fine at the end of the job and he did not get angry and start telling these lies about us until we refused to come back and do more work for him. He never informed us of mites problems on plants and we were never hired to maintain his container plants, another lie. We did not leave loads of dirt on his property only a small amount of granite gravel as his request. We have been in business for 11 years and have never had another client say anything like this about us. We have dozens and dozens of testimonials from satisfied clients that say exactly the opposite of what [member name removed] is saying about us. I would be happy to share those with anyone who is interested in working with us and can provide many references from clients who would be happy to speak with you. Thank you. Jim Reimann
