[member name removed] is right to be concerned about prices but not mine. Many customers call me with no tree care on there property for over 10 years and they expect me to be able to fix the problem for a few hundred dollars. I pay over 3,000 dollars a year in time and expense just to maintain my licenses. Many of the chemicals I use cost hundreds of dollars just for one gallon. I spend thousands of dollars every year just for chemicals. I am a real expert holding four licenses with state of Texas. My rig or truck costs me over 45,000 dollars and is eaten up by chemicals every few years and must be replaced. I know what it cost to offer my service and many companies in town charge more money than I do and give 1/4 the actual service. Quit complaining about the price. Good service costs. [member name removed] I will match anyones price in town providing they offer the same service. Get the competitors to put it in writing. [member name removed] simply needs to call my competitors before he speaks and writes bad reviews about people. I have 26 years in business, with no complaints ever filed against me with the BBB.

I had a Date Palm I was concerned about. Paul, the Tree Doctor, said it had insects no needed a $400 treatment. He also said the other 3 palms must be treated as well or the bugs would simply return so he wanted $1,600 in total. He then said I needed a quarterly treatment for $300 a quarter. He sounded very knowledgable and claimed a Texas A&M degree. He said the tree oak trees had bugs and needed a treatment for $300 each and annual for $80 each. His prices sounded unreasonable high. I called another tree service and this person (also with an A&M degree and 35 years in the tree business, said the palm was fine and the trunk damage I was concerned with was not rot or insects, but damage from a sprinkler me this was not uncommon for palms (which are part of the grass family). He said what I was told was garbage and he consider people like "the tree doctor" are shysters trying to rip people off. He also said the oaks don't need insect treatment, but that one was planted a foot too high and needed to be replaced, another was in great shape and the third would be slow growing and I could replace it or leave it. In short...avoid Paul Hughes the Tree Doctor at all costs!!!

First off my name is not Paul. It is Philip Hughes. Second, I have been in business for 26 years and no complaints have ever been filed against my company. If this customer does not like my prices she can hire someone else. I will be happy to defend my diagnosis with lab reports. Second, this is simply an attempt to slander my company. I do not know who she talked to but this us utter nonsense. Give me the name of that company and I will be happy to let him get a letter from my attorney. I hold four licensees to his one and have taught 32 other companies across the state on how to do what I do. I request that this review be totally remove. I can prove everything that I told this home owner with well written published material. I deal with palms all the time in the Houston area and they get every thing I said they get. Without preventive control, Palm s die all the time in Houston. I have several other well respected companies that will tell this home owner the same thing. Philip Hughes The problem is not with me . The State of Texas does not even license these so called Arborists. The other arborist are licensed under categories of work, not on their competence. I assure anyone who reads this letter that I can diagnose 10 times more than average so called arborists. The average arborists in this state has not ever earned a degree in anything.

We conversed multiple times through email because he would not commit to anything other than looking at the tree. We requested that he give us an estimate for removing the two dead branches and give us a diagnosis on what may be the cause of the two branches dying. And on treating the tree for pine beetle infestation. He would not even look at the tree unless we paid him $100.00 consultation fee. Normally service contractors make the initial call to a customer as a free estimating service. So when he wanted money to "look" at the tree we were suspicious of his ability and his company honesty. He started talking about the "pine beetles" and saying the tree was probably not salvageable anyway. His response to giving us an estimate to remove the two dead limbs and treating the tree for this beetle, he told us he did not remove branches. What! Has he read his own web page? We are not going to hire a person to just come "look" at a tree. He was obviously not the specialist he advertises he is. He was more interested in explaining how he was a "real tree doctor" and everyone else in this area were imposters, than he was in helping us save our tree. I would be very careful hiring someone with this kind of attitude. So we decided to go with another Arborist with a good reputation on Angie's List.
Description of Work: He was only interested in getting $100.00 to come out and "look" at a tree we contacted him about. Not in actually helping to save the tree.

Again, I am allowed to charge for my time. Mrs . [member name removed] can call someone else. I do not give my knowledge away for free. I have the best service record in Houston. This is nothing but a blatant attempt to slander my company. Mrs. [member name removed] know absolutely nothing about my business. She does not hold any license and I hold four. Other companies also charge for their time as will. Those that are free generally don't know much. Philip Hughes The Real Tree Doctor Please remove her review . She did not even hire me. If she has a legitimate complaint tell her to call the Texas Department of Agriculture
