Alkema Construction is honestly a rare find in the woodlands. I’ve had multiple contractors come look at things in the past and I wish I would have found Alkema years ago because I would have both saved money and time. Jameson was prompt, upfront, and honest. We recently completed a substantial, large-scale renovation of our master bathroom using Jameson Alkema from Alkema Construction. We could not be happier! Jameson was an absolute pleasure to work with, communicated clearly his ideas, timeline, costs and any issues that were encountered; we live in an older home, so we did uncover some issues which led to additional scope and cost, but we had anticipated that would be the case, and wanted to make sure it was done right. On several occasions Jameson provided excellent design ideas that ultimately led to a much more open-concept bathroom than we had originally planned. The scope of our renovation included: - Removing the entry door to the bathroom and expanding to be an extra-large walk in bathroom entry - Removing dated built-in’s - Removing a walk-in closet which now serves as a free-standing bathtub - Removing a doorway to the hall to create a truly dedicated master bathroom - Removing a vanity and wall to expand the other walk in closet - Replacing the drywall, ceiling, light fixtures, vanity, shower and all fixtures - Re-tiling the shower and floors including creating a floor to ceiling faux-marble wall Our project was extensive, but despite the issues we encountered due to the age of our home (mostly bringing things up to code from the 70s), Jameson worked to minimize the additional time and cost. He also coordinated with all other vendors who were needed and helped pick up and return materials as required. He effectively communicated when he would arrive and leave each day, as well as what was on the schedule for that day. He also accommodated our travel (we both travel a lot, he had to do about a quarter of the renovation with us not even home) and was patient to work around our dogs. Overall, I cannot recommend him highly enough and will absolutely use him again for other projects! The quality of his workmanship is impeccable. Alkema is not the cheapest nor the most expensive – we had quotes nearly double Jameson’s, and he would be the first to tell you he’s not the cheapest – BUT, I am thrilled with the VALUE we got from his work considering his workmanship, finishing and attention to detail. I will also add, and this is very important in today’s world – he does the work HIMSELF. This is not the sales guy that gets your signature on the line and never shows up again, with a group of shady half-qualified workers to do the job. He does it himself only bringing in an assistant or trades-person when needed (like we needed a plumber because we ended up re-piping the bathroom from galvanized pipes, which requires a city inspector to sign off, etc.). Our bathroom is stunning, we couldn’t be happier. Thank you, Jameson!

Jameson Alkema (JA) provided totally custom work with customer input throughout the job. Customization as the job progressed allowed us more flexibility in our design choices. It takes longer than turnkey custom jobs which require all or most choices in advance. We were able to price and pay for the work in several increments to manage our costs. The final result was our dream master bathroom done perfectly to suit our tastes. Specifically, JA was helpful and patient with our lengthy shower tile selection process and was meticulous in the final tile work layout and placement to give an artistic look. JA was good at troubleshooting surprises found in walls and very open discussions with client on options to meet our needs and budget. Great communications throughout the project. Jameson's work was structurally sound and astatically pleasing. He matched the new deck addition to the existing deck design to give the appearance that it was all original. He poured the footings, hung the joists, laid the decking installed the railing all the while having to deal with funky angles and terrain gradient issues. He politely gave design suggestions that turned very well. We have dogs and he always made sure the doors and gates were closed. If you are looking for a competent contractor that shows up on time, works clean and efficient, completes the job on schedule and on budget Jameson is your guy.

Jameson installed two new entry ways and doors in our garage giving us access to the back yard and mud room. The garage roof was sagging so he jacked up the roof, installed additional support beams and beefed up the support columns. We wanted an addition to our deck so we could have a view of the mountains and aces the back yard. He politely made design suggestions that turned out great. He had to deal with funky angles and terrain gradient issues. The addition that he installed looks all original and seamless. We have dogs and he always made sure the doors and gates were closed. If you are looking for a more than competent contractor that shows up on time everyday, works clean and efficient, completes the job on time and on budget Jameson is your guy!

We wanted repairs to a 90 feet run of our 18 year old wood cedar fence to extend its life and avoid costly fence replacement. The major fence companies mostly just wanted to tear down and replace. With Alkema Construction, Jameson listened to us and offered a cost effective solution that met and exceeded our needs. He replaced our deteriorated top rails and added an 8” high bottom rail to cover the deteriorated picket bottoms. Now the fence looks great and should last for many more years. He used top quality natural cedar rails along with weather resistant screws instead of nails so the rails are solidly attached and can be removed and reused in the future. He inspected our entire wood fence and found it in fairly good condition for its age. Jameson does really fulfill his promise as stated on his website. He does quality work at reasonable cost that best satisfies your needs or issues. We are planning to use Alkema Construction for a master bathroom remodel as our next project.

In 2013, I had my toilets replaced by a major plumbing company. After 5 years, one of the toilets developed a gasket leak. I called the same plumbing company who said the toilet design was flawed preventing a good seal. They charged me $250 to reseat the toilet as best they could. After 6 months the toilet started leaking again. I decided to try someone else and was recommended by a friend to try Alkema Construction. Jameson seem very knowledgeable and pulled the toilet and quickly determined the problem was the standard wax gasket was too thin. He knew how to build a new replacement wax gasket to the correct thickness and reseat the toilet so it won’t leak again, but not too thick or it might extrude and block the drain. I am very pleased Jameson could troubleshoot the problem and solve it quickly at about half the cost as the major plumbing company.
