sAfter three weeks of trying to get in touch with Robert Pool regarding a refrigerator I had inspected at his shop in his absence, I was able to find him at his shop. I had called and left messages three times. He never returned my calls. After finding him at his shop on Thursday, August 30th, I was able to purchase a fairly new refrigerator on which Mr Pool reported his worker had replaced the ice maker. I paid Mr Pool with a personal check and expected delivery on Monday, Sept 3rd by 9:30am. Mr. Pool called repeatedly on Saturday and Sunday leaving messages that he would not be able to deliver on Monday since it was the Labor Day holiday. Of course I had made significant notice of his willingness to deliver on the Labor Day holiday and how well that day worked from me since I would be home all day for the holiday. We negotiated that he would deliver the refrigerator on Tuesday morning at 9:30am. I took off from work to be available. He called at 10:00am on Tuesday saying he would be late. He arrived at approximately 10:45am. Without apologizing for the delay or for having to reschedule, Mr Pool promptly proceeded to inform me in an extremely blunt and disrespectful manner that the refrigerator would not fit through my back door and that he was going to have to bring it through my front door. I informed Mr Pool that the owner of the house had recently moved one refrigerator larger than the one he was delivering and one about the same size as the one being delivered through the very door that he was informing me would not accommodate the door. I had measured the refrigerator on my first trip to Mr Pool's shop. Mr Pool stated "I'm not gonna scratch up and dent my refrigerator to get it in that house". When he stated that he could take it through the front door, I asked Mr Pool if he could guarantee me that he would not scratch the hardwood floors that run throughout the house. He stated that he WOULD not promise anything other than that he would not take the refrigerator into the house. When I told Mr Pool that he was being unreasonable and that I had waited for the refrigerator -- even taken off from work to accommodate his change in delivery plans--that I had paid for, his response was "We all got problems don't we?". He told me he still had my check and would give it back to me because he was not going to take his refrigerator through my doors even if I allowed them to remove my door from its hinges. He preceded to dig his wallet from his boot, fish out my refrigerator, and leave (slower than I would have preferred). I was flabbergasted and speechless to say the least. I am not a quite person and rarely have an issue speaking my mind, quite loudly. I have never seen anyone behave so disrespectfully and unprofessionally, regardless of their line of work. I would never recommend Mr Pool or his services to anyone at all.
Description of Work: The services that were supposed to be performed were delivery and set up of a used refrigerator. The refrigerator was paid for and should have been taken into the house, plugged up, connected to water for ice maker, and set up.
