Description of Work: I had them in to replace a kitchen faucet, repair a leak on a bathroom faucet and an estimate on a shower head/arm replacement. They were on time, quick, clean and gave me honest feedback on options and costs. They did a lot of work in the time they were there.

We spent about $110 on that service. The job went very good overall. We would tell others that they were very professional and the pricing was good. Every person we dealt with in the past we have had a good experience with as far as we are concerned. We would absolutely use them again in the future.
Description of Work: We use Payne Plumbing for heating, air-conditioning, and plumbing. The last time we used them was about 8 weeks ago.

Our experience with Payne Plumbing was a nightmare! Either the technician did not know what he was doing or they were out to make money on repairs & parts that were not needed. I wish someone would do an undercover expose on these thieves. It is unbelievable to me that Payne tried to get more money from us on repairs that were not needed, in addition to incorrectly rewiring the wires. Luckily I went with my instincts & had them stop the work. I can only imagine how many people they have taken advantage of & robbed. This should be illegal! DO NOT USE PAYNE PLUMBING!!! BIGGEST CROOKS IN TOWN!!
Description of Work: Our AC unit recently went out. We called Payne Plumbing & they sent out a technician who informed us the fan motor was out & he replaced it. We paid him $350.00. The next day, our AC quit again & we called them & they sent same technician. Over the course of the next 2 days, he came & went 6 different times to "get parts". At one point, he touched 2 wires, which burned out a fuse. Before he left, my husband asked him several times if the compressor was working b/c we worried that if it was this, we would be looking at a high repair bill. The technician reassured my husband that the compressor was working & did not need repair. On the last day he was at our home, I asked him what was wrong with our unit. He responded that "things wear out in time & it's an old unit" We built our house 5 years ago, so the unit is not that old. After a while he came back in & informed us that the compressor was out & it would cost an additional $2,000 to replace this. At that point, I instructed him to stop working on our unit. We called Pat Patterson with Patterson Plumbing, who was recommended by our roofer. He came out & took a look at what Payne Plumbing did & told us that, first of all, the wires were wired wrong (Payne Plumbing tech did this). Again, concerned about a high repair bill, we asked about a compressor. Pat checked out everything in the unit & told us we did NOT need a new compressor. He also informed us that even if we had needed a compressor, it would cost approx. $1,000, including labor. He then repaired the mess Payne Plumbing left & charged us $107.24 to do this.

Response from Payne Plumbing
Taking vicious public statements about this company very seriously, it was vital to investigate completely such accusations completely before responding. Payne Plumbing Comany has taken fairness in pricing and customer service as a priority for nearly four decades now. It is unfortunate that you, Member, had an unfortunate experience with this company. This is what has been discovered. · Technician was dispatched and diagnosed a bad fan motor and possibly a bad contactor. o Customer advised she was running tight on money and to only do what was required to get it running again. o Fan motor and capicator were changed. Unit was running when the technician left o Technician collected payment for $350.000 on check 8910. · Customer called next day, advised unit was not working. Techician was dispatched o Found that the contactor was burned (customer didn’t want it replaced the day before) o Installed new contactor, but unit wouldn’t run. Believing that new contactor to be defective out of the box, the technician advised the customer that a new contactor would be brought the next day. · Technician returned the next day. Understandably the customer was becoming frustrated, as was the technician. Technician commented that customer was extremely rude. o Contactor was changed, yet unit still would not work o Technician knew it was likely a small problem, but was getting extremely frustrated with the customer’s continual rudeness. o Out of frustration with the customer’s extremely rude and distracting behavior the technician offered a new unit as a solution. o Customer told technician to leave the premise o Technician intended to return with another experienced technician to help him diagnose the problem- · At some point soon after this, the customer and the company manager spoke on the phone. The results of this conversation were: o Manager advised dispatcher that due to the customer’s extreme rudeness we would NOT be returning to the job o Manager advised NOT to deposit the customer’s check. In Summary · Machines are machines. There are times when diagnosis is difficult even for experienced technicians. It can be understandably frustrating for a homeowner. · This customer’s extreme rudeness ( to more than one staff member) only complicated the repair process. · The technician is an experienced Marine, Special Forces, two tour veteran. To question his integrity is ludicrous. His self composure during this ordeal is admirable. There is no doubt that he was frustrated with attempts to deal with diagnosis while being badgered by a rude homeowner. · It was the company’s complete intent to return and diagnose the issue, so that the unit was running. Because we were not able to do that, the customer’s payment was NEVER deposited. · To call this company robbers and crooks is completely out of line. Is the customer a THIEF because she didn’t pay for the fan motor and labor to install it? Payne Plumbing Company has been around for a long time, and prides itself on a good job at a fair price, and to make it right with our customers. It is unfortunate that Payne Plumbing Company was not able to complete this repair, which was apparently related to the work the customer requested the technician NOT do on the first day. It was a management decision to not expose our technician(s) to further unnecessary verbal abuse. This whole situation would make a person wonder if this is the way this customer conducts all business dealings; if RUDE is just a way of life- the norm. Sadly, the customer paid an additional fee for a repair that we were willing to do at no cost. But on the other hand, the customer did get a bargain on the fan motor.
