I purchased some sliding doors from Pella windows to enclose my back porch. Cost of windows, 7000.00. Originally I was going to hire Pella to install the doors. Mike Cantrell, the owner of Hoopers Interiors was looking for work and was told by a friend of his that I was enclosing a back porch and referred Mike to me. I was a little hesitant to hire Mike due to the cost involved in the doors but Mike assured me he had done this sort of work all his life, knew what he was doing and really needed the work. I really wanted to help Mike out and decided to hire him for the job.I explained to Mike the the porch sat lower than the yard and water was a concern. He told me he would pour a concrete footing to address the problem. From the beginning, Mike was rarely ever on task as far the amount of time he told me it would take to install the doors. He would leave the job for days to go work other jobs. My back yard could not be watered for many weeks and tools were left on a daily basis for weeks. For approximately 9 weeks Mike was here doing 2 jobs he assured me would take 2 weeks. Porch finally got enclosed and I was ready to install the wood floors and stain the doors. Lucky for me, we received a small rain before the wood floors were installed and the footing Mike poured leaked. He came back and patched the footing and it still leaked. At this point I had 3 other contractors come and look at the work Mike did and they all agreed that the existing concrete should have been cut out and a footing should have been poured no less than 12" deep. I then hired Pella's contractor to pull the doors and pour the concrete footing and reset the doors which cost me an additional 4000.00. Mike never offered any of the money I paid him for the poor work done. He did offer to put the trim back up but told me I would have to pay for any addtional cost for the materials, so I told him not to bother. Mike also told me he put silicone under the doors between the footing. When the contractor I hired pulled the doors, there was no silicone. Mike did a great job with the wood work framing the doors but beyond wood, I would not recommend him for anything especially if you are wanting to get a job done in a timely manner. When I fired Mike and hired the new contractor, Mike went on facebook and was name calling Pella's sales person. Very unprofessional!!!
