Flint Boot and Hat Shop

Early this week I brought in a pair of leather flats that needed to be reheeled. They promised the shoes to be ready on Friday. When I went in and presented my claim check, the guy looked puzzled. He asked me to describe the shoes, so I did. He came back with one shoe. When I told him I had brought in two shoes, he went looking for the other one. In the meantime I looked at the repair. The shoe had not been polished. A big dark blob was visible between the top of the heel and the shoe itself. The edges of the heel were ragged, as if they had been cut with a rather dull knife and not trimmed up. The guy at the desk wasn't able to find my other shoe. He will call me if/when he does. Which doesn't matter. The shoe I saw was so ugly, I won't be able to wear them. UPDATE: Apparently the owner was gone during that week and for whatever reason, my job was not completed properly by his employees. The missing shoe had fallen underneath the bench. The following Monday the owner called and offered to redo the job. When I received the shoes back, the heels had been replaced, trimmed, shaped and dyed black. The shoes were polished and looked good. He charged me half price because of the trouble that I experienced. I gave him another pair of leather flats that needed new heels and those were done quite satisfactorily and on time.
