On 1-27-12 (Fri), I went into Maness Furniture in Longview, Texas at 225 E. Cotton St., to shop for a mattress. The Sales lady who helped me was very sweet and kind woman, however, maybe not so qualified in the mattress area. But who am I to judge. Well until now.... The mattress I laid on in the store was soft, but the same exact mattress I purchased that day and brought home was not soft at all. I called the sales lady the next morning, (Sat) and told her the mattress was too hard, and she informed me that it would take a week or two, sometimes a little longer for the mattress to soften up. However, my sales lady never told me I could not bring it back, and while it still had factory plastic on it. I sleep on the mattress the second night with the factory plastic still left on, and it was still miserable. The 3rd night I took the stiff plastic off and put on a soft cloth water proof protector on the mattress to see if it made a difference in comfort, and it wasn't and I decided it was not worth waiting on the "so called softing period". I called my sales lady back that Monday (1/30/12) and she told me I could bring the mattress back in but the owner would take off a discount fee. When I asked what that fee would be for and why, she stated because the mattress was now considered used even tho I had covered it and it has never been slept on directly. I explained to my sales lady that understood that, but what about my purchase, my money, my satisfaction and that I bought a mattress from their company that did not honestly represent the one on the show room floor. The sales lady told me she was sorry and if it were up to her she would do it different, but she couldn't and just bring it in and her boss would let her know how much he would knock off, being anywhere from $25.00-$50.00, but no more than a $100.00. I explained I did not agree to the owners made up policy and if it were more than $25.00 I would not agree to anything because I wasn't losing money either and I felt they sold me the wrong mattress. I brought the mattress set back to Maness Furniture that same evening, completely covered and protected from the elements. When I arrive I was told the boss wasn't even there so I agreed to leave it over night and someone would call me the next day (Tues) because my sales lady would be off but she would make sure we were taken care of. After Monday night on my couch because I didn't have a mattress on my bed because it was sitting in the Maness Furniture warehouse on top of some recliners waiting on the boss. You know on his schedule, not the customers schedule, time or comfort! I called Maness Furniture at about 9 am (Tues) and asked for the owner, and I was told by the lady who answered the phone, that the owner said, my sales lady will call me back shortly because she was coming in to the store in 30 mins to talk to me. I asked the lady on the phone...why doesn't the boss just tell me what his decision is himself, and why bring in my sales lady if she's off on her day off and she is sick? And I was so kindly told, she will have to call me back. I say what a joke of an owner and someone who may refer to himself as professional and he couldn't have treated me like a worthy human and his customer, and told me for him self. What a coward!! When my sales lady called, she could hardly speak from being sick, and told me the owner said he would credit me $200.00. I paid $460.00 for the queen size plush top mattress set, and Maness Furniture wanted to only credit me back $200.00 of it. This was a difference of $260.01. Clarify....I would lose $260.01, because the mattress I bought from Maness Furniture was not soft as they said it would be. I find that to be a rip off and a scam! I spoke with other mattress companies in the area and they truly thought it was foolish of the Maness Furniture Owner to do that to anyone and lose business, worst of all, Maness Furniture did not stand behind what he sells. Other stores told me, that within in 30 days I could have returned their mattress for an exchange/upgrade and a return within 3 days should have been a breeze, with no questions ask and customer satisfaction a factor. I feel like the owner of Maness Furniture on Cotton St. in Longview Texas, is an idiot because he lost more money in the long run because I was clearly going to upgrade my mattress which cost more, plus I was going to buy a living room set there as well, but after all this, I will NEVER shop at Maness Furniture. Apparently the owner of Maness Furniture has too much money and my money and satisfaction did not matter, and losing my business and allowing me the freedom of speech was a risk worth taking, and here we are, and I want all potential and current customers to know exactly how Maness Furniture treats their customers and how he could care less about backing up what they sells or my good night's sleep. UPDATE After going thru my bank trying to get my money back because Maness furniture had my money and the mattress and I had nothing, there was a heated conversation with the Owner (Keith) of Maness Furniture on 2/6/12 about how he had done us regarding the mattress, and letting him know I would get an attorney, if needed, shortly after and upon my suggestion, he decided to give me a store credit of $420.00, which he never offered or considered before. Grant it, not the outcome I wanted but better than $200.00, and less of my life and time having to deal with court fees and court hearings. It was an easy compromise to a very bad deal, that was not my fault in anyway. During that call sitting in my bank on speaker phone, the Owner, Keith, tells the Vice President of my bank and myself, that he was going to fire the sales lady who helped me in the first place and the hear-say just goes back and forth. I find that to be very odd, my sales lady may have made a few errors, and selling me a Corsicana instead of the Simmons I thought I was getting is simply a bad deal, but over all, she was very kind to me and apologized for her boss's decision of the $200.00 in store credit and she tried to make it right but could only do what her boss asked of her. It was the owner who failed to do his part, he should have called me directly, stood behind what he sells and ordered the correct mattress, refunded me, and resolved the matter swiftly, and yet he failed to do any of that. UPDATE: When I arrived at the store location on 2/8/12 (Thur) with my teenager in tow, I was out of place and simply never wanted to be in Maness Furniture again. I had such a bad taste in my mouth, and an annoyed look on my face because there was nothing in that store that appealed to me any longer, and I couldn't figure out what to spend my $420.00 on that I would rather spend somewhere else. About 5 mins into it, a sales lady, or whoever she was, came out with an envelope, and I was told the Owner decided to give me back a 100% of my money, ($460.01). Without saying a word the sales lady just followed my daughter and I out the door. Even tho I had just been silently escorted out of Maness Furniture and it was unspoken to never come back, the feeling was so mutual and I didn't care. What a relief, it was finally over, and to this day...Owner (Keith) of Maness Furniture still has not introduced himself to me, and if it wasn't for my bank calling him, I don't think he would have spoke to me then either. But it is over and for whatever reason he decided to give all my money back, I am grateful for it, because the mattress I bought from one of his competitors cost me over a $1000.00.

I am Keith Robison owner of Maness Furniture Company. The first complaint I received from this person was that she bought a queen mattress set and does not like it but would upgrade to a king. It sounded to me like she changed her mind. Now its a used mattress, anytime anything leaves our store or truck it is used and will be sold as such (mattresses are donated to charity at half value). She also told me she had picked out a Simmons mattress and that is what she thought she was getting. I only carry top of the line Simmons at $1199.95 she bought a $400 mattress set, I do not see how we could have made the mistake of giving her the wrong mattress. (she left this out of her complaint, she also said something about not wanting a Corsicana Bedding Mattress and something about mattresses in storage boxes) She claimed that I was a coward and would not talk to her? I sure listened a lot to her. There is not a lot of mark up in a $400 set. The other stores told her she had 30 days to return their $1100.00 mattress. I offered store credit she agreed, however I decided I did not want her as a customer and she received a full refund in cash even though she paid with credit card. I was in my office when she returned the mattress, she dropped it off and told my warehouse guys she would be back. She did not return, the next I heard from her she was at my complaining. Please look at my other reviews then read other companies she has reviewed. You can not make everyone happy.

Excellent customer service! I knew exactly what I was looking for and was able to look through several manufacturer's catalogs to get a good idea of what was available to order if I could not find anything in stock that I liked. I did find a beautiful sofa and love seat in stock at a price well below several of the other furniture stores in Longview and Shreveport- not to mention that Maness threw in the matching recliner for $20 to boot! I was so happy with the friendly service and low price that I am checking back with them to see about new bedding in the very near future.

I have been shopping for weeks trying to find a certain living room suite from Ashley, I got a price from on e store and would have bought it but they do not stock anything, I work 7 day a week and have to take time off to shop so I went to another store just blocks away, they had the suite in stock but it was over 100 dollars more and they really were not interested in selling me anything. I got online and googled furniture longview texas and found Maness Furniture downtown, I called and they had the suite I wanted, when I got to the store I was greated at the door, taken to the suit I had asked about is it was cheaper than the first one I saw by 50 dollars. They said they could deliver it right now, they keep 3 trucks and 6 delivery people at the store. I have never bought anything so easy, I'm 60 years old and people always over look me. I work hard and have never asked for anything in my life. If felt good to have someone respect and understand me.
Description of Work: I bought my Sofa and Love Seat for them, its a Ashley set, they delivered and set it up all in the same afternoon. Very friendly and the price beat all the other stores for the same Ashley set. Very pleased, they financed me and do not charge interest, 10 payment and I;m done.
