The rental manager told me that during the winter, the machines never had an issue with overheating. During the summer, he said that keeping the air intake clean was critical because they could overheat. On the first day I used the machine, in the afternoon, it began overheating on me. I had to continually stop and get the debris off the air intake. This continued to happen on day 2 and 3 also. On day 4, the machine was almost completely unusable. It would work for about 5 minutes and overheat, even with the intake clear. They sent a mechanic out late in the day, around 4:30pm which basically meant an entire wasted day since the machine could not be used without heating up. The mechanic showed me the area between two of the radiators and it was completely covered in dirt. He blew it out with compressed air. After that, I used the machine for 4 days straight, never cleaned the air intake at all, and it ran like a top, never getting above 25% on the temp gauge. The fact that the cleaning resulted in completely different behavior convinced me that the machine was not serviced before it was rented to us. That dirt was there when we rented it. I lost an entire days usage because of it. We were supposed to get 40 hours of usage and only got 32 hours. Bobcat refused to reduce the rental fee. They gave some c*** and bull garbage about it costing $1000 per day if rented by the day. I don't care what it cost per day. The reason you get a better rate for a week is because you rent it for a longer period. It's like buying in bulk. I paid for 40 hours and only got 32 hours out of it. It would be like buying toilet paper in bulk from Sams, half of it being unusable, to then be told you still got a better deal than buying it buy the package. That's absurd! I strongly recommend against using them. I will never use them again!
