CMA Flooring & Design, formerly known as (Carpet Mills of America) is a locally owned and operated flooring solutions company. Since 1989, it has become a leader in the flooring and home remodeling services offering a wide variety of cost-effective and eco-friendly flooring materials with over 10,000 SqFt of inventory space. Alongside our growth, we continually search out new products and technologies to offer to our customers. We pride ourselves in better solutions, better service, lifetime warranty and no charges for the extras!

"I do not like to leave negative reviews, but I feel a responsibility to do so for future clients. We thought this experience would be great, the sales person RJ was very responsive especially in the beginning. Things started taking a turn for the worse when the painters took 2 1/2 months to complete a job that should have taken 2 to 3 weeks at most. They did not use any protective covers and either left paint all over our new floors, new tile, and furniture or ruined things such as our new electrical wires that they coated with drywall. They also left holes and huge seams in our brand new ceiling along with gaps in the drywall, among so many other things. Our completion date was October, then November, then December, then January and we finally just had to move into the unfinished home. Some of the contractors did a great job and the others we obviously not trained to do the job they were hired for. Unfortunately, we had paid everything up front except a small amount for an add on service. They did not care that we were not happy all they wanted was the money due. They came out and did finally hire someone competent to fix our ceiling and the holes in our wall but then they sent out the same team that made the mistakes to "fix" some other items and it was just terrible work. My husband and I are not people who typically complain about things but we spent close to $100,000 and we were really disappointed that the work was done poorly and we were dealt with so poorly. Honestly there is so much more I could list but I am so exhausted by all of this and I just want to be done with it. I hope this keeps someone else from going through the same thing."

"I have used Harold/Hand Nail Roofing/Remodeling several times and each time I am amazed at the results and how much of an effort Harold puts into each job. He is going to make sure the job is done well and won't leave until it is. I had a really difficult bathroom tile job where stick on tile had been placed on top of the original floor tile, and I wanted to swap the stick on tile with new stick on tile. The process of removing the old stick on tile in itself was very tedious and time consuming, but Harold chipped away at it little by little. Next laying down the new stick on tile with bathroom dimensions that were different in each and every part of the four corners, and middle. Still Harold proceeded to measure correctly and lay the tile, and the final result was Awesome. The job ended up taking a lot longer than usual, but Harold didn't leave until I was completely satisfied. Will definitely use Harold/Hand Nail Roofing/Remodeling again!"

Ceramic tile services FAQs

The average cost of installing tile is around $2,000, ranging between $400 and $6,500, depending on the type of tile, square footage of tile, and whether or not your tiling contractor performs site preparation, like removing old tile. On average, you can expect to pay between $5 and $45 per square foot, largely depending on the type and quality of the tiles you choose. For example, ceramic and travertine tile cost about $1 per square foot, but luxury tile options like marble cost up to $350 per square foot, not including labor.

Yes, tiling a bathroom is a great way to boost the value of your home. Tile is a highly durable and attractive building material, and savvy buyers will know they’re getting a low-maintenance flooring or wall covering that can last for 75 years or more. Keep in mind that the return on investment from tiling your bathroom will likely be higher if a professional tile installer does the work. Tiling is a complicated job, and mistakes will be very evident and detract from the appearance and value of the finished work.

On average, you can expect the tiling in your bathroom to take around 12 hours, usually spread over at least two to three days. The process can take longer if your tile installer needs to remove old tile first. Tiling a floor takes around six hours, and tiling the shower area often takes six to 10 hours. Some factors that affect the length of the project include the type of tile, the layout of your bathroom, and any prep work that your installer needs to do beforehand. It’s best to have an alternate bathroom available during the process.

Tile will almost always last longer than laminate flooring, regardless of the type of tile installed. Porcelain tile can last for 75 years or more with proper care, and even less durable ceramic tile will last for 60 years or more, provided they’re installed by a tile professional. On the other hand, laminate flooring has an average lifespan of around 20 years, and you might only get 10 to 15 years out of low-cost laminate flooring. As such, tile will add far more value to your home than laminate.

To find a local tile installer, your first step is to connect with professionals in your area and interview them. Ask the following questions to get a sense of their experience and ability:

  • How many years have you been in business?

  • Do you have a list of references I can contact?

  • What materials—tile, thinset, and mortar—will you use?

  • Does your pricing include materials and labor?

  • How long will my bathroom or kitchen be out of commission while you work?

Then, compare prices to find the best value for your investment.
