Wilson Landscape Design

They promised to deliver a landscaping plan in a week after coming out to survey our property. A month after they came out to survey the place, they sent me a handwritten pencil sketch with plantings labeled in writing that was very hard to read. I told them I didn't want any azaleas as I couldn't keep them alive. He suggested several azalea plantings. Plus he left out three areas of planting beds in his sketch. Very poor work that I could have done myself. I guess, what was I expecting for $99? But it was a total waste of my time and money.

He did show up and talked to my wife. He said he would get back in a couple of weeks with plans. We were looking forward to seeing them, we want to completely re-work the front landscaping and around the pool. After about 3 weeks, my wife called and he said he was on jury duty and would get back to her in a few days. He never did. I called Angie's List to complain and insisted on my money back, which they did. I can not rate his work because he did nothing, I would not recommend the company and next spring will find a dependable company.

They were fantastic to work with! Very flexible in their approach and did things outside the scope of the engagement just to help out at no additional charge. Great team and I would encourage you to work with them, I know I will.

They came and did the job while I was at work and it was perfectly done!!!

builder wanted to leave swale ca. 2.5 feet from foundation. Wilson landscape "John" (not sure of correct name) looked at the situation and said that swale needed to be moved away from foundation between 5-6 feet. He gave us valuable information which we used to pressure the builder to do so. He finally complied. Thus we did not have to use Wilson landscape to do the job.

I was somewhat disappointed. He did draw me a little diagram. They could have used a little more creativity and landscaping information. He left the place tidy.

It was pointless top purchase deal package and Angie's List cannot seem to let it go. Despite all this time, the site continues to request I perform a review. I'm hoping this will make it go away and get their act together in the future since a refund was applied.

I can't say enough good things about Wilson Landscaping. I am trying to sell my home quickly and I've contacted multiple companies on Angies List and only two came out for estimates. Wilson Landscaping was over $1000 under the other bid and was able to do the work faster. I'm so happy with the landscaping and my neighbor commented how great and efficient the workers were. They were pleasant, on time and worked efficiently. The owner was prompt in responding to my emails/texts and was very friendly. If I were staying in Texas I would have hired them to do all my yard work a long time ago. I'm sorry I hadn't found them sooner.

I really liked my interaction with DJ. Even though I was getting a few competing quotes, I thought I would go with him even if he had been a little more expensive due to his ideas and flexibility with my involvement. He told me I would probably have a quote by the end of the day. I never received a quote. After checking my spam filter, I emailed him. I never received a reply. I then called his cell phone and left a message. No reply. I then called his office and a message was taken. No reply. I am now shopping for another contractor. The work likely would have been about a 2k job so it wasn't small nor was it huge. If he didn't have time in his schedule or he didn't want to take on the work for whatever reason, I could have done with some response and would have respected that. Update: I had an email in my inbox after I submitted this review. I did get an estimate and explanation that he was running behind, apologizing for the delay. I think DJ would be good to work with if he wasn't backed up. Based on other mixed reviews concerning communication I decided to go with another company.

For 99 it was ok.. The man came to my house look around, we talked, he drew a sketch. I had to call and remind them to send me the plan. I got the plan and I was a hand drawn sketch with some planting and landscaping suggestions - not really what I had talk about with the man. I had to call again to get the price list to go with the plan. I did get a few ideas out of the experience but I don't think the man really listened to what I was saying.

Had to call and call and call. Never returned calls, Never followed up. Finally received a rough, pencil sketch of garden ideas, and then never heard from them again, after repeated attempts to contact them.

It took several months to get the job done but that was no fault of Wilson Landscape. That was all Mother Nature. We purchased the deal right before the monsoon of 2015 hit and the weather just would not cooperate with us. Wilson Landscape actually left the yard looking better than when they got there. They did a great job and I have already reccomended them to two people. i will be using them again for my next project. I am so proud of the way of the job they did!!!

Awesome Job, they did everything requested and were fast and very efficient. They were impressive.

Wilson and crew did exactly what they were asked to do. I needed clean up and that's what they did. I also asked for a quote on additional work. I would use Wilson again.

Giving them pretty much all A's for their work, BUT - in the last few months I've been trying to contact them to do some more work, and they have quit responding. The rainy month of May set their schedules way off, and work that I asked to be done back in March just never could get scheduled, and they were not responsive after May or June. I gave up on being able to get any more work done. There was even one small portion of the work that was supposed to be completed back in January/February that they never finished up (they get stuck on finding the right stone to match the flower bed perimeter). However - the work I did get done from them back in the winter was GREAT. I have not had better service from any other landscape worker or any other kind of contractor. Prices were good, communication was great, and there were instances where they went above and beyond. The retaining wall repair work caused some tension with the neighbors (the wall, and therefore the work being done on it were within inches of their property line and their fence). DJ helped smooth things with the neighbors and worked out a solution. There was an issue with the city (probably because the neighbors called the city) saying that maybe our wall was illegal. DJ called the city and got it straightened out. They had some extra sod (quite a bit) and so they installed it in a few bare patchy spots in the front yard. They had some extra good flower bed soil, so they spread that in our other flower beds that needed attention. All of that was stuff that wasn't at all part of the scope of work, but they went above and beyond. They were very courteous and careful with their work, and cleaned up after themselves. The drip irrigation system had a leak, and they did come out quickly and take care of that. Yes I would recommend their work to a friend - but I would also warn that friend that their communication and timeliness was much better in the slow winter months than during the busy and rainy spring/summer months. Not sure if this is typical for them or if my experience was a fluke.

Great, even when the first cut wasn't sufficent they jumped back on it and met our needs. Again, great job!

He came out, walked around and did what he said he was going to do. I had no problem with Wilson Landscape. He did what I want him to do, that was as far as it went. If I get another place that needs landscaping design I would probably get him.

Our front yard and back yard were a MESS after the winter. This company straightened up both the front and the back so incredibly well! We felt so fortunate to have found them. They even cleaned up the leaves on the patio which I didn't realize they would do. We were not sure how long it would take to have our yard cleaned up and they were flexible and worked with us on the time. They were wonderfully responsive, communicative and did a great job.

They actually did take a very long time to set it because of me but they did a really good job. Overall, it was an A. The only issue I had is when they were doing it because I supplied all the stuff and I had bought an extra large roll of cable for the wiring. If I hadn't asked them where it was, it would have driven away on their truck, the remainder of it. They were taking all of what was left of what they used even though they haven't bought it. The pricing was good. I would give them A's across the board. I think I was way past the expiration when I used it and they didn't make any buzz about doing it as it was purchased. They didn't make any big deal of that at all.

It took about 3 weeks for them to get back in touch with me. And they are not a good reference in my opinion. I felt like I got taken advantage of.

I was happy with the work performed but could not get them to schedule a time to come back and complete my job. Communication appears to be as problem with this company which is unfortunate as their work is very good.

I am sorry that it has taken me so long to write this review because the owner of this business so impressed me that he deserves all the praise he can get. The crew had been scheduled to come out to our house on a Friday before my son's birthday party to clean up the yard. I came home that Friday from some errands and saw that the yard had been mowed but that was it. I called to speak with someone and left a message figuring that all was lost and we would not have the yard ready for the party However, the owner (I can't remember his name now) gave me call and I explained the situation. He told me that the crew had reported that no one was home to let them in the yard. However, the yard was open and I explained that to him. Instead of giving me the response that I expected (which was so sorry, you're out of luck), he told me that he wanted to talk to his crew and would call me back. A little while later he called me back and admitted that the crew didn't do what they were supposed to do and that he had told them that they were going to need to do the job the following day (Saturday), even though they didn't typically work on Saturdays. i was more than impressed! The fact that he admitted wrong and made it right is so seemingly rare in this world. And even though the crew didn't do the job right the first time, they came on Saturday and did a fantastic job in time for the party. And I will give nothing less than an enthusiastic "A" because of the overall experience. Thank you to Wilson's!

In a nutshell great promises, poor delivery, somewhat argumentative management (as I now note in other poor Angie's reviews). The company has apparently gotten so big that they simply don't know where their people are and what they are doing. Workmen spoke little English which is pretty common in Dallas, but came without equipment and supplies to fertilize, knew nothing about lowering mower height, ignored back yard bush trimming and came on the wrong day (Thursday) last week while the owner insisted it wasn't his people who cut my lawn that they were coming the next day and would fertilize (never happened). I understand that it has rained here in Dallas almost every Friday this spring and Friday was my day. So what happens if they can't come out on another day? What happens is they simply insist that they did the work even though there was no evidence; no pellets, no sign and we pretty much watched them every week. I tried to keep them for mowing but when I asked what was the deduction for fertilizer applications the answer ($3.20 per application) was an insult to my intelligence and the final straw. Maybe this is just part of getting used to the differences between the Chicago Suburbs and Dallas. I've owned houses for 40 years and the last 20 had lawn services. I'm just not having any luck here getting a full service company that has real expertise to improve a lawn. So as my neighbors suggest I guess I'll get the cheapest mow and blow service and do my own treatments

We bought an Angie's Deal to have Wilson Landscaping give us a landscape redesign, since we are unhappy with the current layout. We were promised a plan in two weeks. After more than two weeks lapsed, we contacted them. They apologized & told us they would have something for us the next week. This was 4/3. On 4/7 we were told we would have something by 4/10. On 4/9 plans were dropped off in our mailbox with an email saying they would follow up the next day. We wanted to have them do the work they designed & discuss changes & price. On 4/13, still no followup came. We sent another email asking for discussion of work & price. On 4/14 they acknowledged the changes we wanted & said they could be incorporated. On 4/16 I sent another e-mail stating that I didn't know whose turn it was to do what next. They responded that day that they would make changes & price it out if we were ready. I thought we were already at that point. It's now been over a month & we still had no work done to our property. We had hoped to be done by now. We heard nothing for several days. We called the office & left a message for DJ. no response. We called again a day or two later his personal cell phone. Voice mail & no response. On 4/22, we called the company to talk to the owner. He wasn't there. He called us later, just after I sent an email that said I would notify him within a week of our decision. We discovered they hadn't given us Angie's discounts or other discounts. He said he would call us back in 45 minutes. Never heard from him again. On 4/29, I sent an email stating we would not be using their company & that we felt disrespected. He apologized & said they are not pushy or bothersome. Here is my main complaint. It is not pushy or bothersome to do something you promised by a certain date. I would rather you tell me a later date & be early than you promising an early date & being late. As a result of the time it took to do all of this, we have now cancelled our landscaping plans for this year & will try again next year. I also cannot abide someone who is attempting to gain your business not to return a call. This is the ultimate disrespect & something we will no longer stand for.
