Wilson Landscape Design

I bought a coupon for 3 men for an hour of landscaping work. The team did a wonderful job cutting down 3 diseases blue spruces and taking away all the debris. They had extra time and removed dead leaves under some Red Tip Photinas. Good job!!

I had deferred contact with the provider initially, but once I contacted them it took weeks to get them to come out, and a few weeks after that to get the drawings and quotes. They were supposed to send some samples beforehand, but did not. The final quote was incomplete and was also not broken down as we had discussed. I now have the quote which was fairly reasonable, although at this point I am unsure whether I will use them to complete the proposed work.

Excellent Provider not taking new customers until February but spent substantial amount of time on the phone reviewing my problems and instructing me how to solve them/ as well as how to find and vet a company qualified to do so.

They did a great job weeding and cleaning up, however, they were very late. They did work non-stop for 4 hrs.

Company told me they would arrive on 9/26 at 10 am. w/2 mean for 8 hours. After several phone calls they were at the site at noon. Instead of contacting me, I had to schedule a 2nd appointment to finish the job. Not customer friendly.

They were very good. Very professional and cleaned up their mess. I am using them again for future projects.

Not well. We had a scheduled date but then canceled because they could not come at the agreed time. We were going to reschedule at a later date. However, they came without telling us. We were not home, nor prepared with a list of all we wanted done. As a result, they did one of the things we discussed but did not put all the debris, weeds, in approved bags for trash pick up. The only reason we knew they were there was because the trash was piled next to our fence in bagging that was not allowed by our trash pickup.. We don't have any accounting of how long they were there or what exactly they did- deal was based on a set time period to do work. We left a few messages before getting a call back. There was only phone tag & the issue was never addressed/resolved by them.

All went fine, just took a couple of days to hear from them about scheduling appointment to preview work and the it took until after thanksgiving to complete work.

This was an Angies List Deal. The workers were professional and worked very hard to get the items I wanted done finished in the allowed time. Wilson's mulch price was a little high ($6 per 3 cu. ft.).

We had purchased a big deal for the service, and it turned out fine. I got what the big deal was for, and then I got a price quote which was very high. He came over, and I told him what I wanted to have done, and then he sent me a plan and quote for what we wanted to have done.

Expensive. Not as prompt as expected.

I am very dissatisfied with the process and final product. I had to push to get a response and follow-up every step of the way. The plan Wilson Landscape delivered is very low in quality and did not incorporate my input – essentially unusable. They never called to discuss the plan as promised. The nursery that I took the landscape plan to for cost estimates, etc. felt that it was substandard in every way; filled with inconsistencies and inaccuracies – couldn’t believe it was developed ‘professionally'. Despite how tempting ‘Big Deals’ may seem, my advice is resist the temptation and stay away from them – I know I will in the future.

They made a landscape plan for me with an estimate of how much it will cost to put it in place.

The company was to deliver an analysis of the existing landscape and a plan to be used for a new landscape at the front of my home. The new landscape would include new walkways and plantings only. There were no arbors, decks or water features to be included in the plan proposed. During my initial contact with Wilson and subsequently the representative who visited my home, they were informed that I would be listing the home for sale and that the completion of the work in a timely manner was of paramount importance. At no time did anyone at Wilson Landscape indicate that this couldn't be accomplished. Numerous phone calls over the past 4 months has resulted in plan that did not address the critical element (walkways). It did include recommendations to plant a live oak trees where there is an existing 5" diameter Burr oak; and, a Vitex where a 2" diameter Cedar Elm was planted in the early spring. Wilson has not provided a plan that fully addresses all the critical elements of the project. I have been unable to speak to them about why they chose plants that reach 20' that are to be planted within 3 feet of the home or why they are recommending the replacement of existing healthy trees. The plan as submitted for review did not include an estimate of probable construction cost. I placed a call to the contact listed on the certificate August 24th at 2:30 pm to discuss the problems that I have been experiencing. As of August 26th at 5:08 pm, the call still has not been returned. I had planned to use Wilson Landscape to build-out the landscape plan. Unfortunately, based on my experience with the site analysis and plan delivery I no longer have the confidence that the landscape project would be started or completed in a timely manner.

Service performed on schedule with minimum disruption.

It was nice. I thought that they were a little high priced but otherwise it was fine. They did a lot of weeding and bush trimming and that kind of stuff.

Once I set up an appointment, the person came out and said he would have a plan within a week. 3 weeks later I had to call back to check on it. A few days later I got the plan and a quote for the service. The quote was outrageous but I am satisfied with the overall quality of the deliverable.

After initial miscommunication and a write-up that was much more than we asked for, John Wilson put it right and scheduled the services we were wanting in a prompt manner. At the end of the day, we had quite a bit of work done, it was the work we wanted, and we paid more than a fair price with our Big Deal.

It took a few e-mails and calls but we did finally connect. Very pleasant. Did provide the landscape drawings that we paid $99.00 for but to do our front and backyard which is not very large, it would have been around $8,000.00. The bid included removing some established bushes, adding new plants, reconfiguring existing flower beds, adding new ones bordering the beds. Just not wanting to invest that kind of money into our landscaping at this time. We have not had any other quotes at this time so I have nothing to compare it to pricewise. I feel he would do a good job.

The process went reasonably well, but I wouldn't repeat it. I communicated with the company via email to schedule the site visit. They responded quickly and DJ came out to my house within 48 hours for the site visit. He was prompt and friendly. We discussed the primary things I needed to accomplish with a new plan, which would include only my small front yard and part of one side yard - a total of about 1155 square feet. I told DJ that the first and most important thing was to have a plan that was really minimal (not elaborate or fancy) and that would be very low maintenance (i.e., no grass to mow, etc.). I explained that I needed to reduce maintenance to the lowest possible level and limit my exposure to plants due to my allergies and that I was not interested in creating a neighborhood showplace. I also asked that the plan not include any plantings in the parkway area, but utilize mulch, dg, etc. in that area. The second important thing was to utilize a xeriscaping design to reduce water usage and include conversion of my existing spray irrigation system to drip. The third thing I stressed was that I needed a modest (in scope and cost) plan that would include affordable materials and that I could phase in as I could afford it. I explained that I might even have to do some of the simpler work myself. DJ said I'd have my plan in about two weeks. At the end of the two weeks I called to check the status of the plan. DJ called me back very promptly that day and said I'd have it later that day (a Friday) or the next business day (Monday) at the latest. I did receive the new plan and an estimate first thing on Monday. Initially, I was very surprised (and disappointed) at the elaborateness of the plan and the estimated cost. The plan included several large decorative boulders, plantings in the parkway (contrary to my request), etc.. And, the estimate was for $8500. But, importantly, the cost estimate did not include the cost of the large boulders or the irrigation system conversion (both of which seemed like potentially expensive items). I contacted the company immediately and talked with the preparer (John, I think). He explained that they usually prepare plans that are more elaborate and then line-item the estimate so that the client can cut out items as desired. I explained to him what DJ and I had discussed and that I had specifically requested a much less elaborate and expensive plan. He immediately offered to revise the plan to delete some of the plants, boulders, etc. from the original plan and thus lower the costs. He made the changes immediately and I had the revised plan the same day. Unfortunately, the cost is still considerably more than I consider "doable" and, since it still doesn't include the cost of the irrigation system conversion (an essential part of the plan), I still really have no idea what the actual total costs might be. I can't say and would not suggest that the costs shown for the specific items listed with a price are unreasonable for the work proposed. I really don't know what it should cost. The company rep's were pleasant and friendly to deal with and they responded to my email and call promptly and courteously. I think they should have had better internal communication about what I wanted, especially since I was so specific about it with DJ. (Had I known how they approach it, I would not have purchased the coupon at all.) But, they did respond promptly when I called them and deleted some items from the plan. So, overall, they did what the coupon said they would do (with the exception of some gaps in the estimate). I gave them a C on price because of the incompleteness of the estimate the fact that the plan was not really based on my important requirements/limitations.) In the end, I won't be implementing the plan, and I still don't really know what it would cost to do so. So, I don't think I accomplished anything by getting it done in the first place. In retrospect, I think I should have done more research on-line, through friends, etc., rather than hiring someone to prepare a plan. I have since discovered that the City offers free classes that can help residents accomplish what I'd like to do and which might help me get a better idea of the costs of the changes I want to make in my yard.

I have deal for 3 men for 1 hour but only 2 showed up and worked for 1.5 hours. They did a good job and cleaned up the area.

Came on scheduled date, provided the plan and cost estimates, mailed information to me when my computer died.

Haven't heard back since. Makes me want to ask for my "Great Deal" payment back! No Service No payment! Nothing has been provided for my $99.00 payment. How do I get the cash back???

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It went well. I had a really hard time scheduling it. The original appointment got lost or something and then I had a hard time getting in touch with them after that. I thought it was a pretty good deal. I wasn't expecting too much for the price. I'm not sure if I would use them again but I might possibly.
