That is not accurate. We confirmed on a service date of 10/20. On 10/13 we had a shortened work day due to weather. The entire week we were running behind. On 10/17 I sent you a message thru the Angie's List message center stating that we would need to reschedule the appointment for the 20th. We never heard from you since.

Went great. Wilson came to my house and within a very few minutes was working on planting the monkey grass around the side and back of our fence. They did a great job, cleaned up the mess and even watered the new plantings. I am very happy with Wilson landscaping and will use them in the future. Sharon Cole

The provider has been unresponsive to all of my phone calls and emails. In July, they took photos and listened to what I wanted to have done. The service is scheduled to be completed tomorrow, and I just received the plans yesterday. The provider then quoted an additional cost, in addition to the price of the deal, at this time which was $1600.

We originally met in July to discuss the work that you wanted to have done. Then we met again on Sept 23rd to finalize plans. We sent over the plan with multiple plant choices to pick from on Sept 29th. We never heard back from you about your choices. I contacted you on Oct 1st to see the status and you seemed confused about what was going on. I broke everything down on 10/2 to show you what was included in the deal and what would be additional. We have been very responsive to your phone calls and emails. Seeing that we sent you multiple designs (front & back yard), Had 2 on site meetings, Sent crew to do 2 hours of prep work, etc etc. I am not sure how you see that we didn't do everything we could to get this job done for you. You asked for a lot more work to be done than was to be included in the deal (labor hours & plant material). We were prepared to do this for you but you chose to cancel the project. Sorry you didn't understand the detail of the deal that you purchased.
This was a very boring, tedious job. First I wanted them to pull the weeds from some flowerbeds. It was mostly grass that had pushed it's way under the weedblock fabric and through a thin layer of mulch. The main task, though, was removing Bermuda grass from a somewhat new Zoysia lawn. A little over a year ago I had the entire yard ripped-out and replaced with fresh Zeon Zoysia sod. At the same time, I had them install subsurface drip irrigation under the entire lawn. For some reason, I expected them to remove the old lawn using a sod cutter. Instead, they used a tiller, rakes and hoes. This mostly worked fine, but in one large section of the yard, there must have been lots of bermuda left under the new sod. It wasn't until earlier this summer that I saw some of the old grass trying to regain some of it's turf, so to speak... I removed some by hand, but didn't have the time to keep up with it. I'm pretty certain that as the zoysia gets more established that it'll choke out the bermuda. Anyway, Wilson sent over 3 guys who spent a few hours pulling out the bermuda by hand and it looks great. The "deal" was for 6 man-hours of work, but I'm pretty sure they put in a bit more than that.

They were fantastic and we are seriously planning to hire then on an annual contract. I would trust them with any job -large - small or for annual maintenance.
Description of Work: Total clean up almost 1/3 acre of manicured property. I was very impressed with the experience and the expertise of the head person who supervised his partner. Their work was meticulous and I tend to be a little (picky) about the details. They pulled (I mean really pulled them - instead of cutting or breaking them. They trimmed some shrubs and spread a late summer weed & feed (Or what is recommended for this time of year). They installed soaker hoses around the perimeter of the back yard.

We discussed what I had in mind and what type of trees and bushes could be used. We also discussed some minor changes to the landscaping itself. He said he would provide me with a couple of design choices and if anything was beyond the Big Deal (cost wise) he would detail that out for me. He called me about 2 weeks ago to ask me to re-send the lot dimensions because he had misplaced them. He said he would email the design options to me within 2 days. It has exceeded that expectation so I plan to call him by the end of this week if I don't hear from him. We haven't picked a design or started labor yet.

The guys arrived on time and mowed the lawn and trimmed the yard. I had discussed my big problem with weeds in the flower beds and the lawn and was assured that they would do all of that. The crew that came in said no one had informed them of the weeds they didn't bring their chemicals. The price was definitely more expensive than the basic mow and trim I got. I think they would have done the job if they were actually told.
Description of Work: They mowed the lawn and trimmed some plants.
They were absolutely wonderful. They got so much work done and it looked so great I asked them to stay another hour and they were able to. We had this bush that grew out and in to the driveway cutting our yard down by half and scraping the car as we pulled out. It seemed as though we'd never be able to get rid of it and they did. I had also absolutely mutilated our hedges this past winter and they trimmed them down and made them look better than I thought possible. They cleaned out the bed around the bushes and added the border and after I saw what an amazing job they did I asked if they could stay another hour and plant all the many flowers we had purchased at Lowes the day before. We weren't sure what was going to give us the best color and last through the heat, so we bought many different varieties and the guys planted them where we wanted them, but also according to where they would grow best and gave us some great tips on caring for them. As expected the hydrangeas didn't make it where we planted them, but several are thriving and I wouldn't hesitate to buy this deal again next Spring and really landscape it out. The other item they repaired for us was a broken sprinkler pipe buried under the ground. We don't use our sprinkler system, but noticed a rise in our water bill. After the landscape work was done I noticed a wet patch in the front yard and it never dried up. I called mistakenly thinking maybe the workers had punctured something. The owner was absolutely beyond nice and even though I'm sure he knew that was not the case apologized if that's what happened and sent people right over to repair it. After digging down a couple of feet in to the yard and seeing the damage it was obvious it was the result of the cold winter or something and had been leaking for a while. They did the digging and repair in about 30 minutes. Our water bill is back to normal and even though that could have been one of those situations (which I've experienced with other companies) where the owner could have charged some "emergency, I'm going to get you for initially falsely blaming my guys" trip and repair charge it was way less than I expected and again, the owner and the repair guys were SO nice about everything!
Description of Work: They completely removed the "demon bush" from our side yard next to the driveway, trimmed down our completely out of control hedges, planted flowers, added the border we purchased and spread all of the mulch. The difference in our yard from their work was night and day.

This is a synopsis of a business relationship that I should have ended the 2nd time that a time or schedule commitment was missed. However, good business relationships are hard to come by and I probably tolerated too much. The truth of the matter is that NOT ONCE in our almost two-year stint of doing business did "Wilson Landscaping" ever meet a scheduled commitment. The company states in one of the final emails to me that I was NEVER satisfied with the work they did. This is not accurate, and I can supply emails where I complimented the work done several times. The room here that Angie's supplies will not let me include the email-chain and timeline. Know that up until this time, the average time passage from request to completion was over 33.6 DAYS. That is NOT an exaggeration. Just ask for the email chain if you need it. I'm including the last request for work and the dialog which followed. ======================= From: Steve Mitchell [mailto:stevemit@charter.net] Sent: Monday, June 30, 2014 7:10 AM Good Morning John – Well it’s that time again. I just got chewed out (by a family member whom I greatly respect) because I’m too nice. I requested this work on June 30th, and was given an appointment date of July 15th. That appointment was missed, and I called last week, and was told that I’d be called back in a couple of hours. Again, this didn’t happen. Now I’m being told that I have to wait another 11 days before the yard is done. Folks, this is getting mighty old. I have got to tell you that after going back through emails dating back to August 15th, 2012, I don’t show Wilson Landscaping ever hitting an appointment at the originally scheduled time. Guys, you’re making me look like a “fool”. The LAST thing I want is to FEEL like one. Let’s get this done this week. Things should not be this difficult. We wish you the best of luck Have a good day =========================================================================== That was the last email I received. I attempted to contact John twice by phone and this last email: =========================================================================== From: Steve Mitchell [mailto:stevemit@charter.net] Sent: Friday, July 25, 2014 7:59 AM To: 'Wilson Landscape Design' Subject: RE: Landscape list New 06/30/14 Importance: High Hi John. I tried to call you twice. This is a prime example of the fact that email is never the best way to communicate when you’re attempting to be emphatic. I probably came off as a raving lunatic, and for that you have my sincerest apologies. It is what it is. I went back through email for over 2 years and reviewed our business relationship. (I’ve attached it to this email as a small text file). After a quick read, you gotta admit that even though you and your guys do good work, there ARE some issues with scheduling and effective communication with me. There are many out there who would have blown you off the first couple times things weren’t on time, yet time after time, I still stuck with you and your company. I can tend to be an a** and very demanding, but that’s why I keep my business relationships, through good and bad. I always want the best price but I WILL pay for high-quality work (though b******* all the way). [And finally,] I don’t want to ruin a business relationship because of p***-poor communication. Let’s talk about this. You have probably reluctantly remembered my phone number, but if you still don’t have it, it’s 817-xxx-xxxx If on the other hand, you don’t want to talk, there is one other issue: In September of 2013, I purchased: Quantity Item Price Total 1 16 Man-Hours Landscaping Services $559 $559.00 Coupon Code: Landscape-xxxxxx-1 Coupon Expires: March 23, 2014 Order Total: $559.00 With this work not being done, there should be about 9 hours left. Am I to receive a refund for the remainder? Sincerely, Steve Mitchell ======================== I have not received a response ======================== John Wilson and his "Wilson Landscape" is a business that is sorely in need of an organizational and time management overhaul. I've never seen a company's labor assets and available time managed so poorly. For that reason, regardless of the quality of the work performed, I would have to strongly urge Angie List members NOT to use this company for any of your landscaping needs. I'm not bitter, well maybe a little bit, since he left me and my lawn high and dry, looking like the devil. The proof is in the near-2 year dialog that I have compiled. If you would like to see the email chain in its entirety, please let me know. Also, by my calculations, I had about 9 hours left on my last purchase of 16 man-hours @ $559.00, but I've not yet heard whether I will be getting my money back. In the meantime, I've hired another Landscape Company to get the jobs done. Thanks, Steve Mitchell

did not respond after initial consultation - did not return calls or respond to texts. Salesman never returned calls or texts - after more than a dozen calls were made to the office and cell phone, I only spoke with the answering service, The provider's response was "I said it would be two weeks for the design." The point is irrelevant when there was "0" communication following the consultation. Only when I demanded a refund through the answering service and wrote a negative review, did the owner make contact. He personally saw the project through and the job was done satisfactorily. He has followed up several times to be certain I was satisfied with the work and asked that I revise my review.
