Superior Finish

The process involved removing a glass enclosure, thoroughly cleaning/preparing the tub surface, taping off all surrounding tile and metal, applying acrylic and setting up an exhaust fan in the window to help with the fumes. He returned the second day to remove the tape, polish the surfaces and reinstall the glass enclosure. He thoroughly explained the process, the chemicals that are used (and the ones that are no longer used) and how to care for the new surface to keep it gleaming. He offers a 5 year warranty and says it should last for 10 to 15 years.

Although there some confusion on the first appointment, he was very prompt on the reschedule. He cleaned both areas, fixed a chip in the tub and explained that we really didn't need to refinish the tub. It looks like new. He said if you are selling the house you might want to, but if you are going to live her form more years it looks fine. Compared to the way it looked when he arrived, It looks like new. He is returning to complete the shower pan as there was a problem with the last caulking job and wanted to let it dry before refinishing the shower pan. He cleaned the shower pan and it looks so much better already. Great job! Bob is efficient and honest. His ethics are hard to find any business. I would definitely recommend him to anyone.

My master bathtub has been ugly and blistered since I bought my house nine years ago. I am getting ready to sell and my realtor said I was going to have replace the tub. I found Superior Finish on Angie's List and thought I would give it a shot before sinking any more money into my house. Bob came out, looked at the tub, said he could do it. He told me the price and it was reasonable, so I said let's do it. We took everything out of the bathroom so that it would not get dusty and he went to work. The smell is horendous, I am not going to lie to you and I got a little high. He finished spraying the tub and told me that it needed to dry and that he would come back tomorrow to finish up. I have a brand new tub and I wish I would have done this nine years ago.

I initially emailed Superior Finish for more information and received an email almost immediately back from Bob asking that I give him a call to discuss the job. My daughter has recently purchased a condo which had a whirlpool tub with dark markings/discoloration and surface cracking on the bottom. We tried everything we could think of to clean the surface, Barkeepers Friend, water and bleach, Scrubbing Bubbles along with some elbow grease and nothing worked. After talking on the phone to Bob, he suggested that we could either resurface the tub or just the bottom at a significant saving. We met him the next day and he first tried acetone to clean the stains but upon seeing the cracking, he felt that it would be better to resurface just the bottom of the tub. He was able to do the job immediately and it took approximately 1/2 hour. The solvents and chemicals used are quite strong, to say the least! Good ventilation is a must, so have some fans ready, but whatever it took, we wanted the tub to look nice, so this was a small price to pay. Although dry to the touch, the tub needs 2 days to cure and then it will be ready for use. Bob was extremely personable, friendly and informative; we can see why so many of Angie's list members recommend him. The cost was $75 before the Angie's List coupon discount of another $25 - a great price! The bottom of the tub is now clean looking and hopefully it will prevent the necessity of replacing the tub in the near future.

My wife spoke to Bob and described the problem. Bob was very helpful, and actually referred us to another company, Superior Surface Restoration, as he said they would be a better fit for our repair.

Bob did a great job. Showed up right on time. The tub looks great and we would recommend Superior!

I went to Angie's List to find some one to refinish my bathtub. I found Bob .He arrived at the exact time he said he would and finished the job in a timely manner. He was friendly and very professional . I would use him again and will recommend him to my friends. The bath tub looks awesome !

It is always a little stressful to give a stranger a key to your house. No need to worry with Bob! He?s a professional and puts people at ease. My husband had more face to face interaction with him and had nothing but good things to say about him. The weather didn?t cooperate with our original appointment but Bob called and came out as soon as the humidity allowed. He did a no slip inlay and applied bondo to our overflow. I know that blocking the overflow is not up to code but we are not selling our house anytime soon so I don?t care ;-) The tub looks like new, all bright and shiny! You cannot even see where the overflow used to be. Fabulous job! I will absolutely use Bob again for any future refinishing needs. Bob provides excellent service and a 5 year warranty on work done. What more can a customer ask for?

We'd used Superior Finish previously to clean up the tub during our guest bath remodel in 2011 and knew we'd need to have our tub done as well when we remodeled our master bathroom, which we're in the process of doing. While Bob does do good work (I guess, I don't have anything to compare it to, but our tub looks the way I wanted and expected!) and is responsive and shows up on time (all good traits), his work did result in a ton of dust all over our house. Never having had a tub refinished before I wasn't aware this would happen otherwise I would've covered up the new granite countertops, cabinets, glass shower enclosure, mirrors, etc. before he started work. After I mentioned the mess, he said he'd covered everything with plastic but that fine dust would still be lingering in the air. Yeah, I was in and out and never saw anything covered up with plastic, and that "fine dust" even managed to make it inside the bathroom drawers. When he finished the job he didn't provide any information on how to care for the refinished surface or how long I needed to wait to use the tub. He also didn't sweep up the mess he'd made on the floor in the bathroom. I would advise anyone using this company (or any company for this service) to learn from my mistake and understand that this acrylic dust will get EVERYWHERE. Cover everything up. I've had to spend most of the weekend getting thick layers of acrylic dust out of places I didn't think dust could get to. And this is just a personal preference and other people may feel differently, but while I appreciate contractors who are friendly, there's a fine line between friendliness and unprofessionalism. After his first day of work (it's a 2-day process), as Bob was leaving he stood in my foyer for half an hour telling me stories about his kids, his ex-wife, his ex-in laws. Frankly, it was too personal and I felt very uncomfortable. Not notifying me of the mess upfront (he knows what the process does, I do not) and sharing way too many personal anecdotes really put a damper on an otherwise positive service experience. Again, the actual work he did was fine - but it's all of those other components of service that make or break the customer experience.

Mr. Tumlinson arrived on time, completed the work in a timely fashion, and we are pleased with the result.

Bob resurfaced my tub and countertops in 2 bathrooms to look like granite. He did a fabulous job. I had this done in preparation for selling my house. The only I can say is that I should have had this done years ago. The difference in the look of my bathrooms is almost indescribable. He was on time and very responsive. He was respectful of my home and cleaned up after himself. I would recommend him to anyone if they want an economical way to change/update the look of their bathrooms!

It was a great experience! Our bathtub was in very bad shape and now it looks like new. Everything was done as promised and even at a lesser cost than originally quoted. Bob was very punctual and professional.

Went well except that the crack re-appeared and had to be re-done one more time.

Excellent! Bobby came out to do a full tub resurface/refinish... but after looking, he told me that wasnt necessary and he could easily just repair the two chips and replace the drain which had discolored over time... and do some badly needed recaulking. Saved him time, and me money! And i SO appreciated his honesty in not doing a larger job when i didnt need it!! Quality of his work is excellent.. tub looks like new. :)

Bob did a beautiful job on the tub, it still looks brand new. He was professional and punctual. Also very descriptive on the process and proper care for the tub going forward. I would recommend to anyone!

Once I called and talked to Bob for an initial visit, I knew he was a professional. He came as scheduled and once he started cleaning the tub, which he does prior to the refinish, he said I did not need the resurfacing unless I really wanted it done! He was very careful on not getting anything in the bathroom messed up, as well. My only complaint and it is not of his doings, is to let you know that the chemicals used to do the cleaning are VERY STRONG and will make you HAVE to open the house up! Keep animals outside while this is going on! He was great and prompt. I will use him again in the future. The money saved on not having the resurfacing done was spent on new hardware for the tub - a nice exchange, if you ask me, and a new looking tub, to boot!

My bath tub looks brand new and Bob was a delight to work with during the refinish of my guest bath. I'm telling all my friends about this guy trying to get him referrals but I'm sure based on his professionalism and quality of work he really doesn't need more work. I'm very satisfied with the cost, quality and the fact he gives a 5 year warranty on his work. Nobody gives a warranty like this anymore and seeing how he does this means his quality of work is true.

The overall experience was very good from start to finish. The time from first call for estimate and the date of the work was good. There were no surprises and the estimated price was the price I was charged. I wanted my tub which was pink to match my new commode which is Biscuit. The color match is perfect and the finish looks great. Bob came when he said he would, made as little mess as possible, made suggestions to halp control the unavoidable order and came to follow up with the drain replacement exactly when he said he would. This is a great company to work with.

Bob T. arrived on time as agreed upon. He finished in no time, and although there was a chemical odor during the process, the smell was virtually gone a couple of hours after Bob left. The refinished tub looks great -- the rust around the drain was refinished nicely, the caulking job around the tub is flawless! (Bob also gave me a couple of pointers on insulation for the original windows of my 1930s house which was much appreciated!).

I highly recommend Superior Finish. They show up on time and are very easy to work with. It was such a pleasure working with Bobby so if you need to have your tub or tile refinished I highly recommend Superior Finish! I will be hiring them again to refinish my stall shower and the counter/sinks in all of our bathrooms. In society today people do not know how to give good customer service so to find Bob and Bobby (Father and son) is wonderful. They know good customer service.

They were very prompt and polite the whole process took maybe an hour. They cleaned everything up and said if we had any problems at all to call them. We were very pleased with their service.

Very pleased with the overall work performed by Bob. We had bathroom work down in the last year or so, but wanted to complete the project by having the guest bathroom tub refinished. After several years of constant use & manual cleanings on our own, the finish of the bathtub had deteriorated to the point that we could no longer return the shine it once had. The surface had become very coarse & harder to maintain. So after signing up for Angie's List we wanted to find someone local & while also getting a fair deal. Based on previous reviews for Superior Finish, we decided to give Bob a call. Walked him through our setup & the things we had tried to upkeep the tub. He explained our options & how he would approach the project. Once a price & date were set in stone, Bob came out to our house & explained the two step process. The timeframe he had given was right on target too as I was working from home that day and truthfully thought it would be an all day project. Bob exceeded that with no compromise to the quality of work. With a few hours the tub was already in better shape than we remember when we moved into the home years before. It looked brand new. He then explained the process of how the surface would have to dry & we scheduled a return trip for the next day. He accommodated to my work schedule for the follow up trip which I greatly appreciated as I could not afford to take off another work day. The next day Bob came out, finished off the final touches, cleaned up all the trash and extra material & installed our new tub drains we had purchased previously. He was even nice enough to install an additional drain for our master bath. Much appreciated. The only side note I would like to point out, which is not a negative at all against Bob & Superior Finish, is the smell of the agent used to strip & resurface the tub. Bob was prepared with his mask & external fan, but the smell in our smaller home was a bit overwhelming. We started to get headaches soon after he left on the first day. And with smaller, older dogs as well, we made a decision to stay in a local hotel that night and just allow the house to air out as best it could. And for me a person with a history of bad allergies, the smell became too much too handle & sleep comfortably in. Just a heads up for anyone with sensitive sinuses, allergies, subject to migraines or troubles with chemical smells. Once we returned home the next morning the smell had pretty much dissipated. We just left the windows open upon our return & it was fine by the afternoon. Other than that side note, the workmanship was great. Very friendly guy & very punctual. Would highly recommend Bob. The first day Bob got there on time, the second day he got stuck in traffic so he was running behind. This was a two day process for each bathroom, so we did one bathroom one week and the other the next week. The second day of the job he comes back to put fixtures in place, chalk and clean up. The smell is very strong and seemed to last a good week after job. it rained off and on that week so couldn't open windows as much as I would have liked to air the house out after job. Bob was very professional, explained the aftercare, and answered any questions we had. We were very pleased and are having him back to do both cultured marble bathroom vanity sinks/tops.

If I were to have to have any more tubs refinished I would wait until the house could be left open the day he does the work. Good to get it done in morning so you can sleep in the house that night.
