Excellent! We used Clayton at MRZ Contracting to completely redo our front and back yard. I had been wanting to do something for 10 years and finally made it happen! He got his cool 3D design to me and worked with me on final design. His staff was great, kept the area clean each night and created the yard I now love. Included taking down a large tree, installing new front walkway, new stone edging and adding to the backyard patio. We wanted an easy to maintain yard so we have rocks versus grass to cut. Love the recommendations in plants. Realize that due to covid and the Feb 2021 freeze, things happened slower than expected but wow! Love the results! I highly recommend Clayton and MRZ to all of you who need a beautiful redesign of your landscaping.

Like many of you who may be reading and researching for a future project, I went in search of those helpful reviews to find a quality contractor. MRZ Constructions consistent 5-star ratings are what really caught my eye. Having completed many building projects over the years and in multiple locations, it has become important to me to not just grab the cheapest price but to find the contractor who will do what he says in the time frame he promises. Clayton is the man when it comes to design help, details, providing an accurate quote and those all-important updates all along the way. Our covered patio project had to be re-designed a couple of times to deal with a pesky build line restriction but none of that phased Clayton and his team. With each change we were provided with updated renderings and a 3-D video of our project. We used those renderings, pictures, and the video in our submission to our HOA which made the approval process a breeze. We built a rather tall cedar beamed structure with a hip roof and a closed rafter, pitched cedar ceiling. Claytons’ attention to the details like roof lines and soffit materials, made the completed patio appear as if it was built at the same time our home was built. We are more than pleased with the final product. Based on my experience, I am adding my 5-star review to all the others. If you want a great contractor who will communicate and not leave you high and dry, believe the reviews, Clayton and MRZ Contracting have earned them.

Called several contractors and Clayton was by far the most honest, optimistic and committed to the scope of work required. Because there was an obvious "unknown" as to the scope of work the quote was provided in tiers that identified clear thresholds that "if" we have to do this "then" we're into this tier of expense. To my absolute amazement, he did NOT make it to the top tier. That's honesty right there! The quote itself was extremely detailed and allowed us to clearly understand the work, the expense and provided the opportunity to adjust as necessary. Clayton shared he was in the United State Marine Corps which explains the detail provided, honesty and absolutely NO nonsense approach with his crew and/or contractors. Thank you for your service Clayton! During the work Clayton stayed in constant contact keep me informed as what the plans were for the following days, who should be accessing the back yard to work on the project and when the rains came (and the rains did come) he identified in advance when the crew would not be present. Bottom line, 100% satisfaction with MRZ Contracting.

Highly recommend! From first contact to handwritten thank-you note after project completion, Clayton, Deborah and their team were unfailingly professional, punctual, responsive, and did great work. They are experts at coordinating all aspects of a project: In our case, that included patio demo and turf removal, tilling and grading, irrigation system modification, new concrete patio install (with turndown beam and t-post piers), and metal fencing. When a few aspects of the project exceeded scope, Clayton immediately informed us of the situation, discussed options on how to proceed, and documented decisions to prevent confusion later. Our backyard is now a showpiece instead of an embarrassment.

I’m excited for this review. Our project started as a thought; unsure of what we could accomplish with a yard that slopped downwards. Clayton did a great job telling us all about his experience and the qualified contractors who would complete each part of the job. Clayton even provided pictures of what the project would like when completed. We needed many changes which is what we wanted from Irrigation, moving the gas line for our BBQ, concrete being stamped, stone and brick pilers built, a roof with electric for a fan, lights and outdoor speakers and a stone wall to hold many beautiful plants and flowers. Pictures are from February 2019 when the project was completed. In the spring the plants will start to flower, fresh flowers will be planted and the grass will be green again. This project has added so much value to our home and I m glad we are not moving any time soon. I now absolutely love spending time outside! Any questions we ever had or changes we wanted to make Clayton always made time to revisit us so we could make proper adjustments. It was a team well worked together. I absolutely love the final results.

I’ve used MRZ Contracting for multiple exterior projects over the last (4) years. Whether is it landscaping, hardscape, driveways, stone work or tree trimming, they continually deliver a beautiful product on schedule.

When we decided to extend the patio on our new home, we first had to address a major drainage problem. Because we also wanted our backyard to be great for relaxing and entertaining, we knew landscaping had to be added to accent the patio and create our oasis whenever we went outside. We were fortunate to have been referred to MrZ Contracting by someone who is as detailed and analytical in their approach as I am. Though we didn't know it at the time, Clayton is even more detailed when it comes to understanding what his customers want and overdelivering what they expect by providing ideas we had not considered along with extraordinary customer service. It seems that this company has not forgotten what it really means to serve your customers. It seems they really believe their customers are the reason for their success. What a concept. Clayton has always been very responsive whenever we have called or sent a text message before, during and after the completion of our project. Most other companies, large and small, often stop being responsive after they have won your business. Not this one. He saved us money by asking questions that clarified some things we didn't really need; unless we needlessly wanted to spend more money. His background and experience kept me from having to hire three different specialists and try to manage and coordinate their efforts. We were pleasantly surprised at the depth of his knowledge in drainage and irrigation, landscaping and horticulture as well as construction design and build. We were first super impressed when, after our first meeting his team created a compelling video design at no cost to us to make sure he had captured our dream. If you want a high quality job that is first class from inception, you should hire MrZ. We met with and interviewed several other companies before making our decision, which became crystal clear after a couple of meetings with Clayton. The best part is that his prices are very competitive but you get so much more. We are thankful to have worked with them. Our new patio and backyard are truly amazing. The drainage system he designed has really been put to the test with the recent heavy rainfalls in our area. The peace of mind from that part of the project alone is not only stress relieving but also worthy of this recommendation had we done nothing else.

They did an excellent job on the arbor, removing the fiberglass and replacing with wooden slats. They installed a ceiling fan in a different part of the patio. The stone work on the front bed is very nicely done. They removed all the existing plants and prepped the bed for planting. Three trees were installed with a one-year guarantee. The "professional" compost used for preparing the soil was half sand (which wasn't particularly evenly distributed in the bed) which is not my preference, but I'll see how it works with the planting. I would've preferred a lot more organic material.

I would never hesitate to use MRZ in the future! They were prompt, organized and their communication was second to none. The quality of their work was great. They're also very good at developing solutions for complex problems that benefit both parties. Great work!

First, let me just say, Mr. CLayton and his team are wonderful. We had minimal landscaping on our new home lot and it was subpar at best. Mr. Clayton came out and walked through our property and listened to our wants and needs. He sent us a 3D rendering of what our property would look like with his help and suggestions. We were blown away by his level of professionalism and thoroughness of his work. They completely overhauled our yard and now over a year later, it’s an absolute paradise. We are so incredibly happy we went with MRZ Contracting. His crews are some of the hardest working people I’ve ever seen. Mr. Clayton was so quick to answer any questions we had even after they completed their work. If you’re looking for someone who is knowledgeable and honest, go with MRZ. You truly won’t be disappointed. The quality of plants, trees and shrubs were phenomenal.

It went very well. I would definitely hire again. Clayton is very easy to work with and is very responsive. He is hands-on and easy to communicate with - phone, email, text - at any time. If you have any questions or are not clear on anything, he is there to help. I gave a B rating on Price because he is a bit more than your average contractor, although not outrageous, but you get what you pay for and he is worth every penny. I have some work in my backyard I am thinking about having professionally done and I will be calling mrZ if we go that direction. At first contact, he gives you an honest assessment of the work that needs to be done. And, once you decide you want an estimate, he goes over the details as much as you need. He also gives you options to choose from and is cost-conscious on what he provides. Once you agree on the estimate, the contract is very straight-forward and easy to understand. He goes by it and expects you to do so, as well. I think I appreciated the payment schedule the most since other contractors will drain all their draws then lag on completing the work. Clayton spaces out the payments at very specific points in the work, and the balance is not due until AFTER the work is done, not before. Once the work starts, his crews will work until the job is done. The driveway pour was fairly quick and easy, and the weather wasn't too awful yet. I only had to ask them to shut off the faucet that they left running into the street since they weren't using it and didn't plan to use it any time soon. But, once the landscape part started, the two men on the crew worked very hard and did it during some terrible cold weather. But, they were there every day as long as it wasn't raining. They were also very professional and friendly. They put in a stone edging that is very beautiful and has drawn quite a few neighbors to come by and take a look. On the plants, I asked for low maintenance plants and that is what I got. It has been only a few weeks but so far, even with freezing weather, my plants are still holding up. I can't wait for them to grow in so we can see the yard in full maturity. Clayton also gives a warranty on the plants in case they die on us, but so far, no problems. He asks that you take pictures of any plants that start to look ill so you have a record to fit into the warranty time period, which is good advice. On the drainage, Clayton came up with a plan that was modified as the work went on to provide better drainage. We are very happy with it now and our yard looks amazing. I will provide photos when I am able to.

From design to finish they were timely & efficient. Kept me informed every step of the project. Listened to my ideas, made them happen. HOA approved design immediately. Kept work area clean at end of each day, even helped my neighbor with sprinkler heads. Neighbors stop me to ask who did the work! Thank you MRZ!

MRZ did an outstanding job from start to finish. We were extremely pleased with the results and plan to use this company again when we are ready to do more work in our backyard.

Highly recommend! Clayton is a true expert at his job. He knew exactly what would work best athestically and practically. We really appreciated his knowledge which helped us to know our money was well spent. He also took time to explain the process. He is reliable and trustworthy. We felt he was also priced fairly. One thing that is important and really stood out was everyone that he had come to work at our house was great and you could tell they'd been working together for a long time. They each knew their craft and all worked very hard. We are so happy with then end result and feel it has added value to our home.

Excellent material, great work ethics/efficiency by all in the crew, the professionalism and overall experience was great! Would do it all over again, but no need....the first time was all it took! No re-dos or complaints on our end. Our driveway was poured in January of this year, and it still looks great and with no cracks! They kept their word during various stages of the project with great communication throughout. Highly recommended folks!

I had the pleasure of discovering MRZ Contracting through reviews I saw on Yelp. I had a fire pit installed in my backyard next to my gazebo and pool area by another company referred to me by my neighbor (big mistake). I should have paid more attention to the design, but it is hard to do that off a drawing. The finished product was an eye sore due to the poor design and poor workmanship. The finished product was so bad, I did not allow the company to step foot back on my property to even try to dress up the pig. I started searching on Yelp and I liked what I read about MRZ. I called them and set up an appointment to see if the mess I had gotten myself into could be corrected. On the day of the appointment Clayton Zachary arrived and I showed him the backyard. Clayton spent an hour with me looking at the new fire pit, it's flaws, and discussing replacing existing landscaping around the gazebo and pool area since it was very "outdated". Clayton spent the next couple of weeks designing a solution that would create a "seamless" area to tie everything together. The pool, gazebo and fire pit had different patterns, colors, and they looked "choppy" together. Clayton sent me viewpoints and videos of what his solution would look like, including the landscaping. It is amazing, almost a year later, the video is a mirror image of what my backyard looks like today! I was so pleased with Clayton and MRZ that I had my entire front yard redesigned and updated. This was a huge undertaking, as I live on two acres. The result was stunning. I cannot tell you how nice it is to pull up to your home and see landscaping that looks like something out of Better Home and Gardens. My wife and I hang out in the backyard as much as possible, enjoying the views and relaxing. I also need to mention that MRZ worked on a leak issue with my pool and got a water fountain working that had never been operational. They also redesigned and repaired several areas in my front and backyard where I had a drainage problem. These guys get it- superior design and creativity, superb customer service, and excellent supervision of their subs. There was never any pressure and Clayton communicated with me throughout the process. I highly recommend you interview this company if you want to customize your outdoor living areas or change your landscape architecture.

It all went very well. We are more contemporary in our design, but Clayton worked with us to understand our goals and help us come up with a unique finished product we love. Not only is he very professional, but his crews are top notch! Work is done first rate, they are respectful of your home and clean as they go. We were so thrilled with the patio that we had them finish out the front and do our final landscaping also. We can't recommend them highly enough!

First and foremost, I chose MRZ because of their initial responsiveness and professionalism. I have worked with a variety of landscape contractors in my professional life, and have found that while the labor force is generally the same, the communication, attention to detail, knowledge and responsiveness of the project manager has the biggest impact on overall quality. After a frustrating experience with a company my neighbor referred, I was pleasantly surprised when my first inquiry was met with an almost immediate response; Clayton was at our home within a matter of days to discuss what we were looking for. He understood my vision and offered plant and tree suggestions that met both my personal aesthetic and my desire for heartiness and low maintenance. Not only did he provide a very professional presentation of his design concepts, his bid was competitive and he was able to complete the project within a tight window as we requested. Although our project was completed in October, Clayton has stayed in contact with us and came by this week to take a look at a few plants that did not take root. I am confident that although our warranty period is officially over, they are committed to taking care of any replacements needed per the contract. Clayton has also been generous with his time in the sense that he answers my questions on irrigation, lawn care, weed control and pruning, showing a genuine interest in ensuring that we are able to enjoy our beautiful new landscaping to the fullest. Very happy and looking forward to using MRZ again for future projects.

See above. We were so happy with the backyard, we asked MRZ if they could landscape our front yard as it was very overgrown. Sure enough, Clayton came in and landscaped the front, tearing all the old stuff out and he planted plants that I liked and again, that fit with the work I was willing to put into the front yard to keep it looking good. As a bonus, he put in "lightscaping," which is also beautiful and really makes the house look great. I would recommend this company times 1000!

The project went very well, however weather effected our end date which was out of MRZ's control. Clayton was professional throughout the entire process and his crew was punctual and mindful of my working from home with their noise and interruptions with questions. I would without a doubt recommend Clayton and his crew for this type of work in the future.

Our old deck was falling down and becoming unsafe to use. When MRZ first came out to look over the old deck, he listened to what I wanted to have done, asked questions and spent time examining the area. He explained what could be done and what could not be done. He was very detailed, but very patient and thorough with his explanations. Once the project started, he explained every step taken, day by day what I could expect to happen. He had different groups coming out to do work, but he also would stop in, make sure the work was being completed on time and done well. He stayed on top of the project, which I really appreciated. Communication with me was not an issue. Response to e-mails and phone messages was minimal, within 24 hours. Very professional. We are extremely pleased with our new deck and patio cover!

They're all right. They were okay with the installation they provided but I didn't go to them because the quote was very high.
